I've never shopped here, but they do make donating very easy. You drive around to the alley on the side of the building, hand the friendy people your stuff, and they let you look through a notebook listing hundreds of worthy charities. When you choose one, the proceeds from your things will go to that charity. If you've estimated the value of your stuff, they'll give you a receipt that you can use at tax time. I love that they work with so many groups, unlike the Salvation Army, whose Christian agenda often puts me off.

Try to get some assistance in that store without attitude. This is a charity shop...isn't it? I was surprised by the surlyness of the help. Acted like they were doing me a favor. These days there's nothing they have that you can't get for less on eBay or Ross Department stores. I almost bought an old toy there for $26. It was Mr Potato Head's friend Oscar The Orange. I searched eBay and got one for $5. Just because it's old doesn't mean it has to be expensive. I never ran into that attitude in Seattle and found lots of bargains there. Also, a friend of mine bought a pair of boots there for $30. An employee was on line in front of her with almost the same exact boots and was charged 50 cents. Donate your stuff to Goodwill and shop elsewhere.

Pros: None

Cons: Surly service, overpriced used goods.

Tried on a blouse in the store and purchased it. I became infested with some obstinate lice that was traced to the garment. Caution! They need to fumigate. I've thrown out my bedding and have had a hellatious battle getting rid of them.

You can furnish an entire home with the great things you find here...and many times you'll end up taking home all sorts of things you never bargained on - for a bargain! You name it, they have it - clothes, furniture, housewares, knick knacks, books, music, etc.

PROS:
CONS: Valencia Street parking is a bugger!

This store gets a lot of traffic and often times you have to wait in line a while when there is only one chashier. But you can score some good finds. Clothes? forget about it, it's really picked over. Furniture and electronics are good though. I've found stuff that would sell for 3 times as much at a retro antique place here.

Unlike most thrift stores, Community Thrift does not offer a large selection of clothing. They do however, have an aisle packed with wicker baskets and pots, for some unknown reason. They also have a large selection of very cheap, very kitschy knick-knacks. But the main reason I go to Community Thrift is there huge selection of trade paperbacks. I often get books here that are barely in stores, and they are generally under $1. The store is dingy, but it is well worth it if you love books.

PROS: great book section
CONS: dirty
