This wasnt as good as I some people recommended to me. I thought that the food wasnt very fresh or tasty. The service was horrible. Not one friendly staff member.

This is a great restaurant to go to for a fun time! It is usually busy, but the wait is well worth it. Their buckets of shrimp are awesome and their mixed drinks are so good. Highly recommend!

Rockin Baja Lobster provides the perfect atmosphere for you and your friends to sit back, relax, and have a good time. Sometimes you can find great coupon deals in the newspaper. If you do, this is quite the deal. Buckets of shrimp, lobster, and others along with a side salad. The drinks are good too. I recommend a strawberry margarita.

The food and drinks were amazing! I ordered the grilled Mahi fish tacos and couldn't get enough. The pomegranate martinis are also wonderful; although expensive, I ordered a 2nd because it was so tasty. My boyfriend ordered the Baja bucket which contained lobster tail, shrimp, carne asada, and chicken and every bite was delicious!! I HIGHLY recommend this place!!

My wife and I decided to check this place out about a week ago after seeing an ad in the local paper (they have a $10 off coupon every Thursday). Situated about a block from the heart of old town, we checked the place out. It being January, we weren't that surprised to see the place was not that crowded on a Friday night, especially since their main dining area isn't that well insulated (they had heating lamps which were nice). If it were the summer time, I imagine this place would be much busier. The aesthetics of this place were bright and it looked like there was a party just about to start. Definitely a warm and inviting atmosphere. As for the food, my wife and I ordered the original baja bucket which came with Carne Asada, Chicken, Lobster and Shrimp. Prior to our meal being served, we made our way to the Caesar Salad/Salsa bar. The salad bar was nothing special, but had the makings for a decent caesar salad. Our server also brought out some warm tortillas along with a sweet "chilli" butter- definitely interesting. The food came out, and in great quantity. They didn't skimp on the lobster or the shrimp, and I swear the carne asada seemed endless (though it was a bit chewy). Overall, I would say it was about average. The buckets were pretty pricey, though we did walk out with a meal for the next day, so it was a pretty decent value. If you have visitors that aren't quite up to the challenge of going to Mexico, this wouldn't be a bad alternative.

Pros: Parking close to the restaurant, quantity of food

Cons: just average- nothing mind blowing

This place...Rocks..Good food and a really unique dinning area makes this one of Old Towns great dining areas. Often crowded during the summer tourist months but the wait is worth it.

We accidentally stumbled upon Rockin' Lobster whilst walking around Old Town SD and decided to give it a try. Very fun atmosphere (already busy by 6 on a Sat night, 30-minute wait) and the food was great. I had the bucket with the lobster tail, shrimp, chicken, and carne asada as well as one of the best lobster bisques I've had anywhere, at any price range. The chorizo fondido was awesome too, if not a tad salty, but its hard to be salty with all that chorizo. The waitress forgot to put in my gf's order, but was very apologetic and got it out to us extremely quickly once she realized it. Definitely going back. Maybe even this weekend ;)

What kind of crazy name is Rockin Baja Lobster? Don't let the name fool you. Many Mexican-style restaurants in California give you chips and salsa at your table, but who needs the same old thing? The Rockin Baja Lobster gives you hot tortillas as a free starter with a tortilla bar of fixin's to make you double happy you stopped in to eat. Oh yeah, the food is also great with ?signature buckets? such as their Sombrero Bucket filled with lobster, crab, shrimp, steak, chicken and calamari steaks all cooked Baja style. This place is a stop I'll make every time I'm in San Diego. Rockin Baja Lobster, YOU ROCK!!!

Pros: A change of pace from all the same, old boring restaurants that are in every town.

Cons: Go early. This place rocks!
