The old club is gone. New decor, dressing rooms, showers, etc. have moved it into the realm of almost fancy. Many of the clubs I've visited in Oregon and Washington are equally nice. I so glad to be a member and the dues are very inexpensive. They have a great yoga program, and I especially like Rhaghavan's classes. I can get a wonderful body workout with little risk of injury. The progression of poses flow one into the other. I also like to use the Sauna and swim. A great place to get the workout I need and to relax in comfort. I so happy to have a totally remodeled, spacious and esthetically pleasing locker room and private showers. Its beautifully done and they work very hard to keep it in tip top shape. I'm happy I rejoined.

This is an incredibly busy gym and it looks like it. Filthy and smelly with broken down machines. The locker rooms are even worse!\r\n\r\nIt is dirt cheap to be a member here and you get what you pay for. I joined because my office is in the same complex and it would be really convenient - BIG MISTAKE.\r\n\r\nFree would be overpriced for this mess.

This would be a good gym but it's too small - as soon as there are just a few people working out beside you it seems busy... too bad because everything else about the gym was fine for me.

Pros: Clean, good location - at least for me

Cons: Way too small

I've been a member of 24 for nearly a decade. They are by far the best value for the national chain gyms. I've seen some really nice ones and some bad ones. I'm sad to say that while I work out their all the time, the SaMo location is one of the worst of I've been to. I hope that the management makes some serious upgrades in the near future,

Lets start at the counter (check-in) shall we? Most of the staff here is cool except for the witch!!!!! She is about 5'4, 130 Ibs, straight and shoulder length brown hair, brown eyes, light brown complexion .....BE WARE! I know she is only doing her ""job"" but damn this chick loves to give headaches. I mean she swears that ID's are required and makes this big deal about how she cant admit you in if you don't have ID so she calls over the manager. (so we forgot our ID, its not the end of the world!) And we tell her we will bring it next time and are willing to assure her that we are members by giving her personal info. But no she still insists that we talk to the manager. Manager comes over and tells us to make sure we bring ID next time-nawwwwwww really????? Thanks for wasting 20 mins of our workout folks! Then after we are allowed in the weight room, I notice that she doesnt even check the IDs of other members that are coming in!!!!!!!!!!! Oh what? Its not that big of a concern when you have phones ringing and 5 or more people waiting to be checked in??? UGH!\n\nAlso, make sure you don't leave your membership card behind or lose it at this facility because you would think that they would give you a courtesy call to tell you they have it, but do they???? NOOOOOOOOO. I had left my card in the locker room or may have dropped it in the gym some time ago and after looking for it all over my house and car I had a curiosity that maybe I left it at the gym (but why then have they not called me?). So missing a weeks work of workout (looking for my card) I go to the gym and ask them if my card had been turned in. Low and behold TARA! There it was. I was like ""thanks, guys"". So when I found someones card the other day, I kept it for a day or two trying to get this persons phone number or email to notify them I had found it. But with no luck I had no choice but to turn it in. When I turned it in I told the guy at the counter to ""Please make sure you call them because when I lost my card no one called me."" He of course said ""sure no problem"". While I was in the weight room he did not pick up any phone and he was not busy with any members coming in. \n\nMachines are always breaking down, bars are missing, weights are not where they are suppose to be, and the ventilation does suck! What takes a maximum of a week to replace a bar at GOLDS takes 24hrs a minimum of 2 months just to get a solid answer of when the bar has been ordered! They want more members, but how could they get them if current members are not happy? If this will be your primary club, go somewhere else! But if you are visiting then its alright for the price I suppose.

This place would never be called fancy, but they have all the equipment and a knowledgeable staff. My personal trainer experience was very solid. Parking is cheap and easy, plus the people working out seem to be more interested in working out then being seen. I like that.

This club has very ignorant managment. I am not kidding. They don't have any paper towels or tissues in the bathrooms. They accept to wipe our eye glasses with toilet paper.\r\n\r\nWhat is worse is they keep the air-conditioning low. the gym becomes very hot and uncomfortable.\r\n\r\nAnd their equipment is old.\r\n\r\nNo wonder why they are losing customers to LA fitness.

if you are looking for a gym that's horrfyingly filthy, has only about 40% of it's equipment working and offers a totol disregard for the maximum capacity of their facility to render waiting times up to the hour, than this gym is your place. \r\n\r\nnot only is it poorly managed and overstuffed with new, duped members, many of the gym items one would find reasonable to expect at a paid facility are hoarded behind the front desk for fear that it will be ""stolen by the members."" the foam rollers, the light weights, the weighted rounds, etc. in order to use them, youhave to walk all the way to the front desk, hand in your card and then schlep all the stuff you checked out to a place where you can use it. not close.\r\n\r\nwell, i do not knwo what kind of person would think to steal a foam roller, but i would hope that the gym staff would not allwo them to join as a member. \r\n\r\nbottom line, it's cheap--but you get what you pay for--plus athlete's foot.

I've been going to this branch for three years ? because it's very conveniently located, is moderately priced and has the equipment I need.\r\n\r\nHowever, this branch is really dirty. It always smells awful, of body odor, in the locker rooms, in the stairwells and the exercise rooms. The women's bathroom is always dirty; I complained about this once, but never heard anything back and nothing changed. Also, they don't even provide paper towels... an awful contrast to some better gyms that provide not only paper towels but real towels, mouthwash, Q-tips, etc. Would it be so hard to give people something to dry their hands on? The drying machines are not to everyone's taste.\r\n\r\nThere can be lines for the elliptical machines and treadmills at peak times, and this is made worse by the fact that there are always one or two machines broken at any given time.\r\n\r\nAlso, any time I've needed something from the staff, I've found them to be uninformed, incompetent and sometimes downright unhelpful and obstructive. This is for things as simple as asking if something of mine is in the lost and found, or them checking IDs. Their only interest seems to be trying to hard-sell people multi-year memberships.\r\n\r\nI joined for the pool, but I never use it, because it's kept too cold.\r\n\r\nSo, overall, this place is serviceable. But there's no evidence of quality control or customer service. Other branches of 24 Hour Fitness I've visited are kept cleaner and have warmer pools.

The biggest problem I have with this place is that they DO NOT HAVE A TOWEL POLICY, so it's common to walk up to a machine and find it covered with SWEAT. When I suggested to a manager that they implement one, she balked like it was a terrible infringement on the rights of members. They don't even have signs up or pre-taped reminders, like at other gyms. \r\n\r\nShe showed me a cleaning station - not very practical, especially when the gym is crowded and you need to jump on a machine as soon as it's free - not run over to a cleaning station, spray a paper towel and rush back to wipe down the last user's snail trails. \r\n\r\nSomeone at work had a similar experience and has since found a new gym for this reason alone.\r\n\r\nIt also seems like there's no one regularly maintaining the equipment. I've not been able to work out on certain machines because of tears in the padding that scratched up my elbows. It took them several weeks to replace the padding AFTER I finally remembered to tell the front desk .\r\n\r\nAs of this writing, the sound system has not worked in half the rooms for almost a month.\r\n\r\nOn the plus side, the staff at the front desk is pleasant, if ineffectual, the trainers seem nice, and parking is easy and cheap. And I guess a lot of people must be ok with snail trails, etc. (or desperate for a local gym) because this place is usually quite crowded.

I have been a member of 24 hr fitness for less than 2 months. I can't wait to change gyms. When I signed up I had to call my salesperson 3x as she ""lost"" my telephone number repeatedly. I purchased training sessions, I requested in writing a female trainer, they promised me a call within 48 hours- a week later I called them and they tried to give me a male trainer. 2 more weeks go by and I finally get assigned a female trainer, they forget to give me the paperwork to fill out and another week is lost. On the day of my alleged 1st training session my trainer called and cancelled me as she claims to be souble booked, we reschedule for the next day only for me to arrive and find that she has had another ""emergency"" and this time did not even call to cancel. \r\n\r\nA week goes by, she never calls to apologize or reschedule. I speak with a manager who assurures me that this is not the norm and that they want to make it right. Another week has gone by and my trainer has informed me that she cannot accomodate my need for appointments in the evening during the week! She is also now saying that they don't have a single female trainer in their entire establishment that could accomodate weekday evening appointments. \r\n\r\nI hardly think that M-Th appointments between 6-8pm are a special accomodation. I would reccomend any other gym but this one.

This gym is really well-equipped. I like to do about 30 minutes there. You can go from one machine to the next without too much of a wait if you can go mid-day. Sometimes it gets really crowded during peak hours, but if you go at off times, it's a great workout!

I've been a member of numerous gyms over the years and my least favorite part of joining was the high pressure sales pitches when signing up. 24 Hour Fitness is the first club that didn't do this; they just let me have my two week free trial without constantly getting in my face. A pleasant surprise.

As for the gym itself, it's got the standard equipment -- treadmills, ellipticals, bikes etc -- though i wouldn't call the facility state of the art. The equipment is generally well maintained, but the pool seems to be closed a lot for repairs. There generally are lines to use the cardio machines during peak hours (Sat/Sun mornings, weekdays after 5) so it's better if you can avoid those times.

Clientele are "regular" everyday people. All ages, all sizes. Definitely not populated with beautiful people like, for example, the Equinox in W. Hollywood, which looks like a nightclub.

Monthly membership fee isn't that bad (it can be a bit cheaper if you sign up online) but like everyone else, they charge the one-time processing fee.

You get a lot of natural light in the facility. Has a pool. Locker rooms could use more frequent cleanings. Cardio equipment can get pretty crowded -- you can find yourself waiting a few minutes to jump on a machine. You can use any of the clubs around the country -- great if you travel a lot. Extended hours are great.

I have trained, worked out, and found comrarderie at many gyms across Southern California. You name it, and I have a membership there: Gold's Gym Venice, World's Gym, LA Fitness, a few private owned gyms, and yes - 24 HOUR FITNESS. I myself am in the supplement and nutrition industry, and really have become accustomed to dealing with a variety of situations and people. However, if I was new to fitness and health, and were to base my expectations on the representation of their clubs, I would end up atKrispy Kreme and/or Taco Bell very quickly.

Despite having large clubs and offering amenities, 24 hour fitness seems to enjoy employing impersonal, rude, and inappropriate staff members to man their clubs. I have trained at at least 6-8 of their clubs all across my region, and have either observed others situations or been involved in issues with the staff at EVERY single one of them.

The proportion of employees who actually look like they do practice a health and fitness lifestyle is probably

I was a member of this gym for a few years, until I got so tired of it being packed every time I wanted to go work out after work. I became resentful that if I came in the evening on a worknight, I would have to wait in line for several minutes in order to use any cardio machine. Most weight machines were in use, and I would usually have to wait for those too. The pool has only a few lanes for swimming, and does not seem to be clean, has a salty, chemical smell and taste. I stopped using it because it was disgusting. Most of the people who go there are young and attractive, so the eye candy almost makes up for it being so crowded and unpleasant. Almost, but not for me.

PROS: Affordable, decent gym, eye candy
CONS: Very crowded, not so clean
