I was looking for some accessories for my Canon Rebel camera -- wasn't finding the lens cover and camera bags -- I had to go hunt for someone. Most of the employees were talking with other employees about personal stuff ... I patiently waited for them to finish their conversation, but rather than ask if I needed anything, they both took off.

So I continued to search, found someone else who just said "not my department" and that was it, didn't offer to help find someone or page someone or anything.

Got a hold of another employee who was playing one of the console games, this time I interupted, he glanced at me and said "just a second!?" So I wait, and 5 minutes later he's still playing his game?? Huh!?

I don't know if it was a racial issue or not, but after waiting and observing other customers, it certainly appeared as if one specific ethnic background seemed to get better service while another ethnic background was ignored.

I'm rating the Emeryville location specifically, as I have gone to other Best Buy locations and I've had pretty good service. I recommend folks avoid the Emeryville location.

They get one star for having air conditioning and lots of TVs on display. This store has nothing more to offer. My wife and I went through the process of ordering a TV and setting up a home delivery, only to have them somehow lose our order. Of course, it showed up on my charge card on the day of purchase! The store was supposed to call us the day before the agreed delivery date to tell us what time to expect delivery. When they didn't call, I called them to see what was going on. The store said I needed to call the warehouse, then the warehouse said I needed to call the store. I called the store at 10:15am (they open at 10) and the "associate" said I needed to speak to the "manager" but he was out to lunch--lunch, 15 minutes after opening? He called me back an hour later and said they would not be able to deliver on the agreed date, but two days later. That was not an acceptable date so I asked him to cancel my order. He said I would need to come to the store to do that. I figured they needed to run my charge card again so I went to the store. It took them half an hour just to cancel my order and they didn't even look at my card. Why couldn't they have handled this on the phone? I figure it must be store policy to annoy customers to the greatest extent possible. Best Buy's slogan is "We are about people." Really?

I left Best Buy, got on line, and ordered the same TV from Sears--a very efficient process. Less frustration and it cost less money because they don't charge $25 for "recycling" and they have cheaper delivery rates. I won't be shopping at Best Buy again.

2 stars, ONLY because of the delivery people who were absolutely excellent! the store employees, complete dolts! lazy, didn't want or had any desire to provide customer service. it was as if i was disturning their chatting parties only because i needed help with a special order item.

honestly, if it wasn't for their SPECTACULAR delivery people (who delivered a washer/dryer up 3 flights of stairs at my Edwardian, plus one more flight from the street level), then i would have given these people a 1 star, hopefully less if i could.

I have bought many items at this Best Buy including a sterio system, IPAQ and flat HD TV. I have always been treated like a customer until Tuesday of this week. I went to buy some batteries for my phone and IPAQ. Not one person working there was helpful out of the 5 I talked to. First person was visiting with an employee who was off the clock behind the camera area and he said he thought the battery I was asking about was over there and pointed and started talking to his friend again. I went over to the cell phone area, in the direction he pointed and a woman was sitting at a computer in the center of the cell phone area and barely looked up and told me they did not carry IPAQ batteries, then I had to ask well, I bought it here do you have any recommendations and she said go on line. That was it. I then asked her where I could find handfree phone batteries, she said not sure we carry but go to the other side of the store and ask. I went over to the phone area and showed the guy the battery and he said it is over with cameras, I said it is a phone battery and he said go to the other side of the wall. Not one person was willing to take my request as a potential buyer or made me feel like they were interested in taking one step to help me. At check out, I did buy a phone battery I found myself, there was one employee waiting on 10 customers, he was extremely slow looking around and not focused on what he was doing, he never considered to call for additional check out staff and truly acted like this is the last place he wanted to be. Very Very poor attitudes and hands off approach. I wondered were they being paid to help the customers? So I will NEVER go back to best buy and buy another product. It would have been so easy to keep my business but it is apparent Best Buy does not care. In this economy I think it is short sited and I have other options to get quality merchandise, this was a convenient store but I will go farther to find the electronics I need.

When I walk into the Emeryville BestBuy I am in heaven- and not just because of the incredible DVD utopia, but because of the sweet, young, hot employees. Very few ugly girls working there. And they are so nice and attentive. Yum!!!

Interesting fact: Many girls conduct escort services out of the Hotel next to the store. It is filled with prostittutes and overseen by their pimps. Most of these girls can be found in the back of a Gardian or Eastbay Express paper.

PROS: Hella DVDs to choose from with great prices.
CONS: If you don't get the DVD on release the price goes up. =(

I recently had Best Buy in Emeryville, install my new deck and car stereo that I purchase from there store. They did a EXCELLENT job in installing it and fitting the new deck. I was kind of surprise that it took only an hour to do. There fast service is very amazing, I am planning to upgrade my subs in my new H3 Hummer too within the next month or so.

They have a lot of electronic gizmos and offer competative prices. The people on the floor are helpful and knowledgeable, but sometimes it's hard to get their attention. If you know exactly what you're looking for, zip in and out, if not, be prepared to wait - for help, any questions you have, in line to pay...

This store is pretty large with alot of space between the aisles. It often has companies doing sales demo's on their products. It is considered a Best Buy Business Store i guess the sales staff are better trained to know and understand the requirements of the small - medium sized business owner. Which means that the prices are actually slightly more expensive than the neighboring Best Buys in the Bay Area.

Its located in a large shopping area with alot of other large warehouse stores close by. Of course it has plenty of parking to.
