We have used another mobile service for some years, but when they were unavailable, we chose Monica??s Mobile Grooming, as a substitute--and kept her for good! Monica is skilled and gentle with the animals, professional, punctual, and well worth the price. Keep up the great work.

I will keep writing about this place to warn others. You should think carefully before coming here. The vet who caused us much grief is now working at an emergency clinic up north in San Rafael. Dr. Aarti Sabhlok was the most horrible and uncaring person I have ever met who has worked as a veterinarian. When we brought our dog in with cancer. She never even looked at him or touched him. She prescribed pain meds and stated we would have to come in monthly for refills (I guess so they could charge for the office visit). She had no accountability for the way she treated us and she never ever returned phone calls. Finally after numerous calls and letters, the owner, Dr. Wendelburg finally called us after our dog had passed away. Never apologized or indicated he would look into the matter either. Fortunately, our regular vet gave us all the medications we needed, but ASG made a very sad situation much harder and sadder to deal with by their lack of compassion. The office manager would never return calls either. If it wasn't for one nice lady in the office, I would have never even gotten our pets medical records. All I can say is shame on ASG and pet owners take your pet there at your own risk. It wasn't about the money, my pets have medical insurance. Their lack of compassion was tragic and such a disappointment. Maybe it is better now than it was 5 years ago by looking at your reviews, but I will never take that risk again. Dr. Wendelburg does need to be more proactive with customer service issues. Again, all I can say is "shame on Animal Specialty Group."

By the way, this place had 3 stars before...some of the current reviews look like they were placed there and are not genuine. All the prior negative ones have been removed and there were plenty of those!

All-around great experiences. I adopted my dog, and given that I had little money at the time, they were very helpful. The doctor I dealt with was very kind. Lab tests came back, and I was immediately notified. Thanks.

I brought my beagle over to Animal Specialty Group last week, because he was acting a little funny. The doctors were able to take him in right away! I was very happy about that. They said it was probably something he ate, and he would be fine! He's doing much better since then. Thanks for all of your help! I highly recommend anyone to come here. They're great!

I was referred by my typical vet to ASG because my 11 y/o cat had early signs of hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) and since he wasn't eating or drinking, he needed to be on fluids ASAP. When I first arrived, I was immediately helped by the nice receptionist and then an ambivalent vet tech.
The tech listened to my story, but hardly made eye contact - which made me even more stressed than I already was. She then took my baby back, came back a few minutes later and handed me an empty carrier, said they would come and get me in a few and walked away. At this point, I wasn't that impressed with the bedside manner - but it was imperative my baby get treatment immediately and since it was after hours, I had little choice.
When the ER doc saw me, she was much nicer than the tech, listened attentively and took notes on all the info I told her. She explained things nicely without condescending and we decided to proceed with an ultrasound to see what was going on. About 30 minutes and $600 later - I got the results and the same doc explained to me that he had hepatic lipidosis, signs of pancreatitis and possible ulcers.
Kay - I'm officially freaked out now. My baby is my life, my heart and I will do ANYTHING for him. This is when things started to turn bad.
They capitalized on this - without shame, without prudence and seemingly without any compassion for my little man's whole well-being.
I was brought an estimate for $3500 for 2 days - including multiple re-checks on vitals, medications, inserting a feeding tube, etc. By now I was balling, worried sick and knowing that for the first time in the 11 1/2 yrs we've been together, he would not be home for a couple days. Or so I thought...
He ended up staying for 5 days at this stressful, cold, sick-care place. They gave him med after med, without even explaining to me first what he was being put on. On day 3 when I visited, he was drooling, lethargic, wobbly and visibly depressed. I was called each morning by the doctor with an update on him, which only seemed to decline since admittance. Finally, on Christmas day I had had it.
Not only was my bill at $4400 now, but the holiday doc was very short, curt and just plain rude to me on the phone when I explained I couldn't afford this financially and couldn't bare to put my baby through this much more. Against the doc's recommendations, I took my baby home that day. I was given discharge instructions on the meds and tube feedings, and followed them precisely only to see my poor little guy vomit continuously and wobble around the house.
After continuing this torturous medication/ tube feeding regime for 24 hrs, I stopped. This was absolutely no quality of life for my baby bear, and if it was his time to do - then I was going to let him do it with dignity - not drooling, not vomiting, not drugged up.
As a hail mary, I turned to a holistic vet book by Martin Zucker and started him on homeopathic remedy nux vomica (anti-nausea) and milk thistle (liver detoxifier & healer). Within hours, he hadn't vomited and even used the litter box and noshed a tiny bit on some kitty tuna.
I ended up finding a holistic vet who makes house calls (Dr. Liz Friedman) and scheduled a check-up for him. I took my baby home on a Sunday, and she came on Monday. He was visibly exhausted and traumatized from the ASG stay, but when Dr Friedman and her great vet tech came over, they were gentle and kind to my guy. Dr. Friedman agreed with taking him off the meds for now - as most of them had vomiting as a side effect, and said to just focus on getting calories into him.
It has since been a week since ASG and despite them, my baby is recovering fabulously. He is gobbling up everything I'm giving him (got a wide variety of food to mix up the flavors) and nearly has his full strength back.
What is TRULY DISAPPOINTING about ASG is the bedside manner. I never met the main doc on the case, just interns, and as soon as my boy came home, not one follow up call or anything. Nothing. Even when I cancelled his future check-ups they didn't even both to ask why. Is it too much to ask for a place that you entrust your beloved's health to, to call you to check on things? especially after 5 days and over $4000?? seriously? My regular, inexpensive vet, ALWAYS follows up a couple days after even a routine check-up.
Also, when I asked to return the medications that he will not be using - they said no refunds, but if I want to donate them they will accept them. Wow, just wow, ASG - you got some nerve. Why the hell would I donate anything to you after you nearly killed my baby and took all my savings? These meds will be donated to the animal shelter - not you.
Bottom line, ASG - get your act together. I will never ever take my fuzzy children there ever again, foregoing some catastrophic physical trauma. Even then, I'd rather go to Eagle Rock ER - they've always been extremely nice and affordable or my usual place, VCA Arden. NEVER AGAIN ASG

I brought my dog Zoot for surgery and ultimately cancer treatment. I knew exactly what to expect so that is why I wanted greater expertise than the good folks at Brentwood were able to give me. It's a long trip over from Westside. My only complaint was very limited parking. It is reassuring to know that you are there for me because I am not your average pet owner. There is a huge VCA near me, with images of its vets flashing on and off. That is enough to make me drive 2 hours.

I came here a month ago after Dr Tang from Best Care recommended to ASG as my dog needed to get an emergency specialize surgery. All I can say that the recommendation was the best call. After my dog came home I was getting phone calls every other day for check ups and after one week I came back, the whole staff came out and greeted me and my dog, it was a great feeling to know that they took cared of my pup. We are so lucky to have a 24-hour emergency hospital in this area.

We took our 10 week old English Pointer puppy to ASG after he broke his femur. The surgery included suture removal, brace adjustments, etc. The doctors are very knowledgeable (ours was Dr. Michael Huber) and answered all our questions and would call back if we had concerns between visits. I can not recommend them enough. It has been 9 weeks since the break and our puppy is on his way to a complete recovery!

I liked the way the doctor took the time to answer the questions in terms that I understood. Not all people want to know more of the ins and outs, the names of things, but I did and I appreciated not being shooed away. I appreciated the efforts to teach me and to learn new things at this office.

The tech's were really great about giving personalized updates to me on how my baby was doing in the hospital. They were all very personable as well as informative. I felt as if the cost was reasonable especially considering that my baby was in the hospital for three whole days. The vets and techs were all so great! They all came in while I was visiting to share all their stories about my baby wile they were with him. I thought that was really nice and I knew he was in good hands. Seriously, you all are truly the best!

Dr. Jackson spent a long time talking about options with me and answering all my questions about my pets surgery. They explained everything very complete and thoroughly. Dr. Carbon called daily to my multiple numbers to reach me as well as leaving voice mails to make sure everything was okay after. She called until she talked to a "live" person. They also told me that I could come in after hours whenever I had a problem and I wouldn't make visitor hours. Everyone I talked to was very compassionate. I liked the way they had the discharge instructions in front of me as they went over them line for line. They made sure I understood so that I was comfortable. The demonstrated the shot as well and let me try it with no stress added. I also liked the way they did the timing of payment so that I wasn't holding my dog and trying to pay at the same time. They had a great set routine. The vet told me they my pet extra hugs when I couldn't visit and told me how much they loved her. The one thing that stood out to me was how they treated the WHOLE family and not just our pet. They were careful to follow well set protocols to deal with our concerns. Making us feel as if we were at a people hospital. The love and caring stand out a lot. I recommend them to everyone I know. Everyone here is just awesome!

Animal Specialty Group is the only place I bring my pets! These are the same vets that did the original surgery for my one of my dogs in 2008 and I was very confident and comfortable on the day of surgery. They explained everything thoroughly about the lack of blood flow and the best long term treatment being removal of the infected plate. My dog had an infection from prior surgery due to her opening the stitches and exposing the plate. The staff was great. Frita, who taught me how to give my dog the IV of antibiotics, let me use my own dog as a guinea pig. They walked me through it step by step and letting me do the work knowing my dog has absolute trust in me. I was given line by line discharge instructions and felt confident in taking her home. She was able to come home with me the same day and that made me feel great because this came a few weeks after the death of my father. The staff was very compassionate at this difficult time for me and I can't thank them enough for helping me get through things. This is the best vet staff by far! Keep up the good work!

These vets are great! The staff was so comforting and really helped me understand what needs to be done. When I need to take my dog in again I will be taking him back here. I completely trust the staff with my little doggie!

If you need emergency services, this place will do. Be prepared to pay top dollar. If you're seeking the advice of an oncologist, well, let's just say that (I felt) we were given a hard-sell. The doc we saw had poor bedside manners with a smattering of condescension thrown in for good measure. The treatment route suggested by the oncologist was (pardon the pun), overkill. The fact that it would have put a heavy burden on our finances AND maim our dog seemed of little consequence to her. (Yes, sometimes desperate measures are called but certainly not in every case.) We sought the opinion of a second oncologist -- who suggested a less aggressive approach -- we went with his advice and all came out well! Don't let fear tactics scare you into something you may not need do. Take a deep breath and, if needed, get a second opinion.

We took our dog Boss to this vet when he was having trouble walking. They said he had to have surgery and the bill was pretty high. The DR let us work out a payment plan we could all live with. Thank you for letting us keep our dog!

My dachshund received the best care at Animal Specialty group this last week. He was attacked by an unknown animal in our backyard that caused severe puncture wounds and internal damage. Dr. Bilbrey did exploratory surgery and removed a bit of liver that was damaged as well as repaired all lacerations. Riley (my dog) spent almost a week at ASG following surgery. I received daily calls from the attending vets on his status. They were all very kind when I visited Riley daily. Yes, it was expensive but I would pay it again to get the exceptional service that ASG provided. The vets and attendees care about animals and it shows. Riley is now home healing with over 45 staples. He has bounced back beautifully and I believe that the care ASG had a lot to do with it.

My cat, unfortunately for me, seems to get deathly ill only after hours, leaving me no choice but emergency care. This is incredibly expensive. That said, he has received excellent care at ASG. I've had to take him in 4 times and they've been wonderful every time. I haven't experienced any of the rudeness I've read about in other posts. I'm sure experiences vary, especially when one is under the stress of a pet's illness, but for emergency situations, I'm grateful to ASG. They've saved my cat's life more than once. However, the price tag precludes my using them for non-emergency services.

As a vet tech myself, i learned to appreciate good service when i get it.. the vet techs that helped me when my dog was attacked by a dog were very knowledgeable, they helped me quickly and efficiently. The doctors are wonderful!! Dr. Andreas Andreaou was great as was Dr. Brian Young and Dr. Emily Coddon!! great doctors... great staff :D Yea it was expensive, but when you get to an emergency hospital i know the doctors want to have a buffer for "just in case" and for those people who dont get this or understand they really shouldnt have an animal... for humans the costs of diagnostics alone is astronomical and to think that just because its veterinary medicine the prices should be drastically different, and yet still get the latest diagnostics and treatment... just seems to be asking for too much... you pay what you get for and i got a lot :D

I have had four cats treated at ASG, two for emergency care and two for specialty care. I have never had a bad experience there, either with the doctors or the front office staff, so I'm surprised to read of some others' experiences. I think I've seen six different vets in my many visits to ASG and found each one to be competent, caring and thorough.

We took our 10week old English Pointer puppy to ASG after he broke his femur. Yes the initial surgery was expensive but nearly all subsequent visits were free including suture removal, brace adjustments, etc. The doctors are very knowledgeable (ours was Dr. Hubert) and answered all our questions and would call back if we had concerns between visits. I can not recommend them enough. It has been 9 weeks since the break and our puppy is on his way to a complete recovery!
