I've got 4 words for you: pork cutlet curry ramen. This is THE dish to order here, and it is savory magic.

Thumbs way down for this spot. I've been a Kyushu patron since I was in high school (under the original owner). I'm now grown up and travel extensively, but every time I come home, I try to get to Kyushu. Unfortunately, the place is in decline. The food is mediocre at best and the ownership is problematic.

As a Japanese American who grew up in the Valley, it's great to have a few cozy spots that serve up foods that I grew up with--chicken katsu and ramen included. But I see Kyushu cutting corners in a way that is damaging. The ramen especially lacks the fabulousness that it could potentially be.

Most recently, I had a horrible experience taking my dad (a Native of Japan) there where he ordered the miso saba (mackarel in miso sauce). It was dry and full of bones. I know fish can be bony, but miso saba lovers also know that that dish in particular can be prepared really meticulously, something Japanese people do pride themselves on doing. But after a few bites, we sent it back--we NEVER send food back, mainly because of my dad's pride. The owner was livid and insulted me when I went up to pay and continued to insult me all the way out the door.

It's an uncomfortable experience for Japanese people who have lived in the Valley for over 40 years, like my parents. My advice: For excellent food and authentic Japanese hospitality and service, make the trip to Gardena and check out the Japanese noodle houses there. Or stay home and crack open a pack of instant noodles.

One word...Delicious! I really enjoy ramen and especially did the other night after swim practice. I go to swim practice in Van Nuys, and we usually go eat afterwards at a local restaurant. I got the ramen with some veggies and beef in a miso type broth. Evidentally the other side of the restaurant serves other food, but I was sold on the ramen. I would definately return there again!

I've been coming to this place for years. Tasty broth and super succulent ramen. The ownership has changed but its still my go-to place when I'm craving ramen. :)

Pros: One of the only tasty ramen places in the valley

Cons: small restaurant

I've been going to this ramen place for a few years now, and I'll say what I've been saying for years: its a good place to go if you're in the Valley and you need a ramen fix. By no means is the food terrible; its actually very good. However, I've been to the ramen houses in Santa Monica and Little Tokyo, and the ramen at Kyushu, while competitive, doesn't match up in the end. However, the pros for this eatery are the late hours and the fact that it's connected to a sushi place, which allows you to get some good salmon rolls to go with your ramen. Also, the deep fried marinated chicken here is some of the best I've ever had. Apparently the owners have noticed too, since they've recently added the option of getting a side of it with your meal. Overall, if you don't feel like driving all the way downtown and you've got a late-night ramen craving in the valley, Kyushu's got you covered.

Pros: Good ramen, awesome fried chicken, open late

Cons: small space

Kyushu Ramen is divided into 2 parts: One side serves ramen and the other side serves Japanese Izakaya type food. They are known for Kyushu style ramen, but both ramen and izakaya dishes are wonderful.

I loved eating at Kyushu Ramen. I had lunch with family and the food was quite delicious. I tried Yakisoba, a fried noodle, vegetable and chicken dish that was very tasty. The Roasted Pork soup noodle is excellent too. The prices are reasonable, about $6 to $8. They do have a sushi bar available.

Ramen which is Japanese hot soup noodles is good here. I usually get the plain shoyu or shio ramen. This restaurant is very small and a casual place but if you feel like Ramen and your in this area this a good place to visit.

I've had better...my last review was deleted because I mentioned another location. But I am a die-hard foodie and personally I'd like to see recommendations, so again I will try to leave one: Ramen Nippon in Reseda. The service was good and quick, the prices are higher than I've paid for some places but overall, the ramen was average.

I have been going to this restaurant for a long time now and the food , service , pricing, and atmosphere have always been wonderful. This place is a real gem! The only thing that makes it tricky sometimes is that on the weekends it get's pretty busy so it's best to make reservations. I always go friday's and a couple of times my friends and I had to wait outside just to get a table. In the past few months I have seen a substantial increase in people who show up there friday nights. I give it a 11 out of 10.

This place is FANTASTIC. I have never had a bad dish at this awesome neighboorhood noodle house. The food is deliciously prepared and the prices are unbelievably low. It gets pretty packed on the weekend nights, so I would recommend making this your spot before it gets too popular.
