I tried this salon after reading several good reviews on yelp. Christina Trejo cut my hair and I love it. During the consultation she listened to what I was looking for, looked at the picture I brought and then talked about how she could make it work with my current length. During the shampoo I got a great scalp massage. As she cut she told me what she was doing so I knew how my cut was coming along.
The salon is really warm and inviting. Everyone has their own style so its not one of those places where everyone has to come in black or anything. When I saw a worker wearing one of those cheesy Christmas sweaters, I knew it was not going to be one of those trendy, too cool for you salons.
First time customers get 20% and they offer free bang trims in between cuts. I loved Christina and will be back but yelp had good reviews for several other stylists there too so I'm sure whoever you get will do a good job.

KATIE SECONDO IS THE BEST!!!!
Love this salon, the people are so friendly and welcoming. You must try this salon and see Katie. She does such a great job with color she is absolutely AMAZING. I travel over 60 miles to get to this salon but she makes it all worth it. She is a hair GENIUS. From beautiful hair extensions to cut to color she is fabulous at them all. I am so happy with my hair and experience with Empire Salon.
Pros: Friendly, Professional, talented hair stylist.
You are in good hands here. This salon is always busy, which is a good sign. The location is a bit tricky the first time you show up because it is upstairs in the plaza. Do a Google search and you can find a coupon on their website for first-time clients. I originally came here a couple of years ago because I wanted to go blonde, but not the OC bleach-blonde like you see all over Newport. They assigned me to to Jamie, and she did an excellent job. She listened to my concerns, made some suggestions, and talked me through what she was doing. It was somewhat expensive, in my opinion, but I was 150% satisfied. I absolutely loved my hair and I wouldn't have done any differently. The color and cut were wonderful and I received numerous compliments on the new 'do. It was a drastic change for me and the new look was well worth the price. When I went back to brown hair, it was mainly due to financial reasons. It is a LOT cheaper for me to dye my own hair at home than it is to get my roots touched up professionally every 2-3 months. I was also in search of a cheaper cut, but something always seemed to be wrong no matter where I went. This even happened when I went to the esteemed Toni & Guy in Newport, which was a surprise to me! I always found myself coming back to Jamie, so she could fix what someone else screwed up. I have seen her for blonde hair, brown hair, short hair and long hair. Once, and only once, the cut didn't turn out to my liking, but she fixed it right away when I told her what I didn't like about it and it came out great. I finally decided to stop trying to find a cheaper place because the quality of the cut diminishes significantly, which is only to be expected after receiving such superior service at Empire Salon. I highly recommend visiting this salon if you are looking for professional, personalized service and a great haircut and/or color, because that is what you will get.
Pros: Great stylists, a comfortable setting, good music playing
Cons: A bit pricey, and they are closed on Sunday
I've always had a hard time finding a happy medim between a salon that is professional but does not initmidate me and finding a salon that is upscale enough to make me feel confident in their services. Since I have been going to Empire I feel like I have made it home at last! I have been going to see Jamie for my cut and highlights for the past three years and she does a great job and an amazing blowdry. Their prices are worth every penny for how amazing you look and feel when you leave. I totally recommend the entire salon.
