This is a great brunch spot and definitely pretty 'Berkeley'. As other reviewers noted, it can be tough to get into. It's a small restaurant and I put very little faith in the host staff to respect the first come, first served rule. So many times, some older lady has come in a half hour after her name was called and was immediately jumped to the front of the line. That's just not cool.
The food is excellent though. They have a fresh baked selection of a scone and muffin du jour. I really, really love the Challah French Toast. Their omelettes are tasty too. The coffee is a little burnt, but this is again a pretty Berkeley thing.
People really like to take their kids here. There are also a lot of people who come down from the Claremont Resort.
My adivice: come on a weekday. Even then, many people are not working/on vacation.
