Recently went here for lunch. It's pretty basic mexican food. I got a grilled chicken taco, it was pretty good. I would order it again if i was in the neighborhood.

One of our favorites! We eat here several times a month. The service is always friendly and fast. Over the past 8 years I would estimate that we have eaten here over 100 times and have always left happy. The food is good, standard Mexican food that doesn't try to be upscale...just good Mexican food that doesn't try to hard to be upscale. If you like spicy salsa, ask for the salsa Perez, it is unbelievable...but you have to ask.

This is great place for awesome margaritas for the grown ups and an accepting atmosphere for children. The food is superb especially the carnitas and the shrimp soup. Very friendly service, treated like well loved family members. Best family Mexican restaurant in Pasadena.

Pros: Margaritas, ambience

Cons: Busy on the weekends

No, this is not gourmet Mexican food. You won't find 40-chile mole with imported Mexican chocolate and gold leaf. What you will find is reliably consistent, good quality Mexican fare -- burritos, enchiladas, a pretty hot salsa, and tacos. A friend of mine introduced me to the taco bar...If you're hungry give it a try with some friends. They bring you all the fixings for tacos and you make them yourself. If you run out of ingredients, they bring you more. The staff is extremely friendly and I've never had a problem with service here. The only drawback is the parking situation. There isn't any.

I've been a regular customer. However, the last time I went I found a roach in my food and I saw it crawl onto the table. The waitress was apologetic and offered to bring me a new plate. However, after the incident I was no longer in the mode to eat. I will never go to this place.

PROS: none
CONS: high prices and roach in food

We were directed to this "hole in the wall" three years ago when we first moved to Pasadena and loved it. We have tried every mexican restaurant in town since then but have not been able to beat La Fiesta. The food is always delicious and the service is friendly and attentive. The fare is traditional tex-mex but without the blandness that plagues the other mexican restaurants in the area. Also, nothing is too creative or artsy - no blue corn tamales or spinach enchiladas here - just dependable mexican staples and tasty margaritas. After one visit you'll feel like a regular.

we thought we'd try it since we were in the mood for mexican... la fiesta's food wasn't that great, but we tipped normally (i.e. approx. 17+%) since it wasn't terrible. unfortunately, when i received my credit card bill, la fiesta had decided to tip themselves significantly more (percentage-wise) than my credit card receipt from that evening clearly shows. unfortunately, the amount is not worth the effort of actually getting refunded for, so i decided a bad review on one of these sites that might stop someone else from going there and getting ripped off would be appropriate. there are a lot of other much better restaurants in the area for the same price. skip this one that's obviously run unprofessionally and dishonestly.

CONS: tipped themselves more than i did on my credit card receipt

This is a good sit-down mexican restaurant. I had the the all you can eat tacos/burrito platter. It was really good and worth every penny. Just make sure you have a good appetite.

While the service was quite good and friendly, the food was nothing special. For the prices, you'd expect something with slightly interesting presentation or a more complex combination of flavors. Unfortunately, that's not what you get. The food actually is somewhat bland with the major seasoning here being salt. We had a fish dish and a burrito, and the fish was not cooked through. We sent it back and the kitchen claimed it was just the color of the fish. Cooked fish is NOT translucent and gelatinous. They recooked the fish, but none of the food was very good. It would be ok if you were paying 5-8 dollars for it, but for 13 dollars for fish and 10 dollars for enchiladas, it is NOT worth it. Oh, and they don't put the margarita prices on the menu. The price? $8.50! And it wasn't even very good! Won't be returning.

You have to try the all you can eat taco (or burrito) platter. All the steak and or checken you can eat with flour or corn tortillas. They just keep refilling your bowls of meat so the meat stays warm. Friendly customer service and usually not very crowded. Parking is another story

Never dine here, but had the take out. It was okay, not bad. The quantity could be a little bit more for the money spent. They do have a distinct sweet flavor to their spices like the "Vera Cruz". The people are nice though.

We frequently go to La Fiesta Grande for Happy Hour. Charlie's margaritas will definitely make you come back for more. Their food is also great. Their taco bar is unparalleled as far as value goes and thir fish dishes (Snapper Veracruz) are amazing. The waitstaff is always pleasant and fun. Run, don't walk to La Fiesta Grande!!

An unpretentious mexican restaurant that doesn't have to WOW you with a cheese stuffed double crusted bean layered grilled 5 pound burrito to get you to come back. The menu is unnassuming and the prices are equally as modest. I usually receive a greeting upon walking in and the service never fails to be friendly. It's a small place that doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. A simple mexican restaurant with good quality food. I usually get a bean and cheese burrito smothered with their red sauce and then add some salsa on the top. I can taste it now....hmmm....

I love this place. It's not OUTSTANDING Mexican food, but it is yummy. And the prices can't be beat. I love their bean and cheese burrito. It's a big bean burrito with cheese and drizzled with their red chilie sause with rice on the side. Also, their crispy taquitos are very good as well. You could get a really good lunch there for about $9, which includes drink, meal, tax and tip. Everything comes with their chips and salsa. The one thing I'd have to complain about is the parking

A neighborhood gem that rarely fails. Comfortable setting, consistent service, food that's quite decent if not above average, frequent live south-of-the border music and...THE MARGARITAS...TAXI!

I use to go to El Portal until I discoverd La Fiesta. I only usually eat the old stand bys, like burrito, chicken soft tacos, and enchiladas. What really got me was the tacos al carbon and I liked thier chips and salsa(hotter) more.

This is a great place to go with a group. Everything is really good and the portions are huge. The bean and beef tostada is my favorite.

I always go here when I want a good taco. They have this item on the menu called the taco bar. It's about 10 bucks per person, but well worth it. It is all you can eat tacos. You make them yourself. They bring you a tray with beans, rice, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, carne asada, and chicken that is all refillable. The bowl never seems to go empty for long before they bring you more. And the service does not stop until you tell them to. This place defiantly gets crowded on the weekends for dinner so come early and bring your appetite.

If El Portal is too busy for an after-movie dinner, Fiesta Grande will suffice. The food isn't nearly as good, the ambience isn't much to speak of, but the staff are friendly and helpful. Helpful note: Free botanas at happy hour.
