We took our 11-1/2 year old dog in to be euthanized. She was in pain. They didn't give her enough sedative so she was awake and very frightened. Then they injected the lethal medicine in three different places before it finally worked. Very unprofessional. At one point the girl said, "she's pretty much gone", but she was still wide awake. She was growling and in pain. There was no doctor present, just two young girls. It was the farthest thing from being peaceful and humane. The whole process lasted over 20 minutes!!

If your pet is relatively healthy, Dana Park is a great facility. Clean, pretty, high priced... HOWEVER, if your pet is seriously ill, this is not the place. One of our dogs passed away due to their inability to diagnose him correctly. Other pets of ours have since gotten sick and they had to be pushed into keeping them there, even though we were willing to pay the money. Nice place, nice people - but medical skill appears lacking. Personally, I don't care if my vet speaks Swahili and swears at me. A nice bedside manner doesn't make up for poor quality of care.

Lovely building, modern decor, current computer outreach.....15,000 patients.....HIGH prices.....focus toward selling....won't help your pet in an emergency if not already an existing patient......Wow.....NOT at all what I expected after leaving the big city for a more "personalized" approach to life.

Nonetheless, everyone seemed competent, mostly interested, albeit very "busy" maintaining the "assembly line" business. If the phones are ringing, you'll be left standing there waiting...then rushed so more calls (potential sales) can be answered.

If you have the money, and don't care too much about the personal approach, it won't disappoint. If you're looking to establish a relationship with a care provider who'll remember you and your pet, this is not the place.

Dana Park is great! I drive from Anderson to take my cats and dog here. I really like how they take care of the animals. The new building is even better than the last one!

We have gone to Dana Park vet twice and both times we were very disappointed with the care and prices.
I took a cat in and he was very old (12yrs.) and not very active, there was a great possibly that he was dieing. We took him in on normal hours and they said they wanted to keep him, within the 2 hours he had past, this little trip cost us $398.00 dollars. When they called to tell us about his passing they where more interested in being paid. They also told us our cat would be return to us wrapped up and place him in a brown paper box. When I got home and open the box (with my child next to my side) he was was just place in the box left uncovered. My son became upset.
The second visit was with a dog (again normal working hours), we came home with no more information than when we came in. Cost $295.00, (no x-rays just looked her over) we took her to our vet the next day and found that she had a slip disk. I could not believe that we had to pay twice to find the answer.
The one thing I always hear when Vet Clinics are brought up, is don't take your pets to any of the VCA clinics or Dana Dr. Vet in Redding that they care more about the money and have the highest prices.
They are the only clinics that are open on holidays, evening and Sundays so we are stuck using them and we have found that they seem to take advantage of the need. Very very costly.

I recommend this veterinary to everyone I know who has a pet. They are the greatest in my book. When my dog was traumatically injured they saved her life at a very minimal fee and they worked with me. My dog is a very aggressive little mutt but the staff here made friends with her very easily. They even provide back door escort service so she does not freak out around the other animals waiting to be seen. That should speak for itself! I also know that my dog will be safe when she stays there for boarding or other reasons.

The office is always clean and organized. It 's never hard to make an appointment with them and they are open on Saturdays for special needs!

After an entire year they still remembered me when I called them back. My dog made as great of impression on them as they did me. I extend my thanks and gratitude to the entire staff at Dana Park Vet!

Dana Park Veterinary Hospital is by the far the best vet in Shasta County. Their entire facility is so clean and well taken care of. The staff are friendly and caring. The boarding facilities are the best to be had. I never worry when we leave our pet there for boarding. The prices are better than most I would say. I would highly recommend using Dana Park Veterinary Hospital for vet care and boarding for any pet.
