Sorry for the long review, but maybe it will safe an abusive experience to other customers. We ordered cake for my son's birthday on Nov. 11, 2010. My husband specified many times: no frosting, no nuts. When my husband came to pick it up on Nov. 14, he was surprised to find a huge amount of scary colors frosting on a cake. My husband complained and has been offered 15% discount. Having no choice, since party was going to start, my husband agreed and took the cake.
This cake caused our son allergic reaction. Our son is allergic to nuts; the moment he tried the cream filling, he started having shortness of breathing, coughing, swollen lips and vomiting. The cake my son waited for so hardly was supposed to be a culmination of a party. Instead of that my son was throwing up on his white shirt in front of all the guests. The rest of his party he spent in a bed, sick and embarrassed. The party was ruined! My son's allergic reactions could be different degrees. One time we had to take him to ER because he wouldn't stop vomiting.
I went to Schwartz bakery on Nov.15th. The person working there did not care at all. All she said was: "Now what do you expect me to do?". Then she called her boss Elizabeth and giggled with her over the phone. They probably found our story entertaining. When I mentioned that definitely nor we neither our friends will use this bakery in a future, all she said was: "Sure, don't worry".
My son is allergic to nuts only, that's why I am positive there were nuts in this cake. Of course bakery says there wasn't nuts. However, same way they forgot about not to put frosting, they forgot about not to use nuts.
We were offered neither credit, nor understanding by Schwartz Bakery. I filed complaint with BBB. Following up this complaint Elizabeth from Schwartz Bakery called me on Nov. 29, 2010. This woman was extremely rude and offensive, she yelled at me over the phone, called me a ??liar? several times, a bad customer and I don??t know what else. She said that my husband never mentioned ??no frosting? and never mentioned that our son is allergic to nuts. This is obviously not true as my husband mentioned it several times. She also mentioned that I can go and get my money back because she doesn??t need customers like me. Of course she was not interested in my reaction and hang up on me. I was truly shocked. Their cake made my son sick, so all I was expecting was credit and apology. Instead I was abused and humiliated. We feel a huge dissatisfaction from the Schwartz Bakery product quality and poor customer service. Their way of resolving problem is to offend the customer, is that what make Elizabeth feel good about her business? I am going hopefully to receive my money back, however; who should protect customer from this kind of ??customer service?? Now you decide if you want to be thier customer!

Not worth the effort putting up with bad staff attitude when Canter's bakery is just a few doors down.

Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Bad attitude kills it
I purchased a loaf of Sheepherder's Bread from the local Ralph's Grocery Store in Long Beach, Ca. This bread was so good that I wanted to know the bakery the bread came from. It was from Schwartz Bakery. Thanks Schwartz, this is the best Sheepherder's Bread I have ever tasted!!!

We have not purchased or ordered anything from Schwartz Bakery in almost 4 years for our small synagogue in Lakewood California. For the second time in the past 4 years we today received a bill for $3,416.36 for baked goods purchased between the dates 6/2008 and 6/2009. This bill comes from 12430 Montague St., Pacoima, Ca 91331 with no phone number on it and this is getting really annoying. How do we stop this? One might think they have changed their information since the last time and what kind of business would continue supplying baked goods for a whole year without payment. Seems like something is awfully strange with their accounting system.

Awful restaurant. Awful owners. Awful customer service, Dry and Disgusting Cakes and Cup Cakes, do not fulfill the order as they promise and charged more then twice the amount I was quoted. I am still in dispute with them trying to explain my bank what kind of a scam is going on in that place.
Stay away if you want a nice party.

Good restaurant.
3This deluxe bakery has recently drastically improved. It is a clean nice place to sit down for a simple meal. They also have a big variety of delicious cakes and cookies and it's kosher!
4This store knows how to do chocolate desserts! The chocolate challah bread and croissants I?ve had from there are just so light while filled with rich, chocolate flavor. Their cookies and rugelach are fantastic, too. However, I?ve had to

In my opinion, this is the best overall kosher bakery in LA. They have great bread/cake/challah/pastry/brownies, you name it. I come from The Valley to shop here. Their dedicated Passover Bakery has incredilbe stuff-try their cheesecake and brownies. They are closed Fri Night, Sat and all Jewish Holidays
