I really feel Sunnyvale Toyota doesn't provide customer service that is acceptable by any means. I first bought my first Toyota, a 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, in November of the same year. The sales person wanted me to come in the next day to complete remaining paperwork. I had told him that I had a family event in the afternoon, but he assured me that he would have everything ready so I wouldn't stay there for over an hour & would make my event on time. This was not the case, & after arriving around 9:00 in the morning, it took another 4 hours before I was able to leave. The entire time I waited, he kept stalling me that it would only take another 15-30 min (repeatedly). Needless to say, this started a bad relationship with Toyota Sunnyvale.

After a year, the radio started to have problems. It would eject CDs on it's own & turn off. It got progressively worse. I reported this every time I brought the car in for maintenance, but they repeatedly said that they couldn't reproduce the problem. On the first maintenance after the warranty expired, they concluded that I was right & it did have a problem, but that I would have to pay for the replacement since the warranty had expired (in 2013). Only after complaining a very long time did they acknowledge that they should have replaced it earlier & didn't charge me for the replacement (but I did still pay for the labor). I shouldn't have had to spend the additional time to complain to have them fix something that should have been fixed during the warranty & I shouldn't have had to pay for the labor.

About the same time, the key-fobs started to not work. Both had started to fail at the same time. I reported this as a concern since it appeared very unusual (the service representatives told my wife that when a key fob goes out, it goes bad gradually, giving the driver/owner ample notice to replace the battery). We replaced the batteries every 3 months for a 9-month period. Toyota Sunnyvale wouldn't troubleshoot the issue, but made me spend over $600 & labor on new key fobs. Again, like before, this problem started before the warranty period expired, but they wouldn't acknowledge a problem until after the warranty had ended.

Soon after this, the stock tires had worn down at about 50K miles (I thought that was a rather short tread-life, but just accepted it). They were stock Toyo Open Country tires. My gas mileage on my hybrid had started to decline (from 26-27 mpg to about 25 mpg) so my initial thought was that it was the low tread on the tires. The service department read: "keep moving forward on tires MATCHED EXACTLY to your Toyota." I bought new tires that the service technician recommended (Yokohama Geolander). My gas mileage went down to 23-24 mpg. This just didn't make any sense. The service department said they would over-inflate the tires & that I should come back after 2-weeks of use. After 2-weeks, no change in gas mileage. They recommended changing the tires back to the stock model. In the meantime, I did some Internet research & learned that the Yokohama tires were discontinued (the previous year) & were not low-rolling resistance tires, which apparently are preferred tires for hybrid cars for improved mileage (according to my internet research). So much for the tires MATCHED EXACTLY to my Toyota. In order to facilitate moving back to the old model tires, I had to pay for labor & $100 for the difference between the two tires. My gas mileage is now 24-25 mpg.

Recently, there was a recall for an IPM module, which apparently is part of the hybrid drive system. The service to address this was expected to take 1-3 days. In each of the previous visits (which were multiple for each), I was given a loaner car. One of the times, I had returned a loaner car with baby food stains in the back seat, which I wont deny because I remember when it happened. When I returned it (which wasnt the last time), they accepted the return of the car & said it was okay. Now, they are saying that they will no longer give me loaners because they expect not to have to pay additional costs for detailing a car. Thats fine. I expect not to have to need a loaner every time I bring in my car and that they fix my car when I report an issue (Ive started taking pictures when something goes wrong to give them proof) Also, this is was an issue, whey didnt they tell me when I returned the car at that time and I talked to the service representative about it (I didnt try to hide it, I pointed it out when I returned the car. Like I said, I remember when it happened). At this point, I feel the decision not to give me a loaner & not to tell me about this is simply vindictive since this was something that could have been communicated over 6-months ago.

At any rate, at this point, its clear Toyota Sunnyvale conducts stall tactics to create a situation to maximize service bills to create a greater financial burden on their customers than expected.

Very displeased and MAD! My boyfriend negotiated an agreement for the purchase of a used Camry which included price, a trade-in and the repair of a strange sensation or "glitch" in the steering of the vehicle. 3 days later the dealership refused to honor the contract regarding the repair. In fact, they refused to even have a mechanic look at the problem and expected acceptance of the vehicle without the agreed upon repairs. A representative stated that this is just the way the steering is in this particular vehicle. Having test driven other like models, this is decidedly not so. This was a blatant disregard for the contract which was signed and agreed to by both parties! The ability to have the steering "glitch" repaired was the primary consideration when purchasing this car. Sales representatives tried to sell my boyfriend a lesser vehicle at the same price. I don't think so! I'm needing a car in a few years. Guess where I won't go?

I don;t understand the negative reviews. I shopped around and Sunnyvale Toyota had the very best prices. Their salesman Tom was great, no back and forth BS. He just gave me the their best deal and it was substancially lower than another local Toyota dealer. Buying a new car should always be this easy.

Do not buy car from this dealership.
The saleman is dishonest about the car price.
Once they sold the car. They never response customer e-mail or
phone call.

They have the higest car price in SF bay area.

Even the word "worst" may not match the kind of disservice I received. In simple words I will never go there again, NEVER. My first purchase has been a bitter experience. I needed to buy the car very urgently and they were quoting one of the least prices. That is the only reason I bought from them that day. Otherwise I would have walked out any day for the kind of treatment I have received. They made my first car purchase experience in this country a very bitter one.

So beware never ever go there, unless, as somebody already said, you have very very very low expectations.

They seem to think it's an acceptable business practice to robotically sales call their own customers. Incredibly obnoxious.

Boycott this dealership until they change their business practices to have a sensible privacy policy and respect their own customers time.

Dont even bother coming into here unless you set your expectations VERY low (like lower than Jiffy Lube).
They take short cuts (which means they charge you for work they dont perform). If they damage your car, they will NOT take responsibility, even if their own employees say the damage wasnt there when you brought it in, I have firsthand knowledge of this.
They absolutely will not refund your money, they will just ask you to bring your car back in so their hack-mechanics can screw it up or just not work on it.

Had a very bad experience. Was sold a car with 4 new tires (supposedly) on the paper. When I got a flat tire, the tire experts told me the tire has now expired and I'd have to change the flat tire. They wouldn't plug it for safety and legal reasons. I walked into Toyota to understand why they would give me 2003 manufactured tires when I bought the car in 2006 and claimed in my receipt they would put in "new" tires. After 2 hours of waiting and scrutiny, they said they are not responsible for the tires. And now they don't have a record of ever installing the tires nor would they take responsibility of installing a 2003 year tires on a car bought in 2006. Very insensitive to Customer safety and trust. You would think an organization would care atleast for its reputation. Well, no! They are NOT RESPONSIBLE!

I bought a used 93 Toyota for my daughter last week from Sunnyvale Toyota. I thought it was worthwhile paying a premium compared to a private party purchase since a dealer would be more likely to stand behind their product. I was sadly mistaken. Although they advertise "Every Vehicle comes with a 7-day/700-mile Exchange Policy", when the engine overheated and was declared "ruined" after 744 miles, Sunnyvale Toyota said there was nothing they could do. So, a $4200 purchase was a *total loss* in less than a week.

So much for their 119-point inspection.

We purchased our Corolla here a couple of years ago and got a good deal from a salesman who was easy and honest to work with, not pushy. We've taken the car back for normal regular service and have been happy with the professionalism, efficiency and friendliness of the service department. We would recommend this dealership to anyone.

I took my Toyota Prius there for scheduled maintenance and when I got it back the windshield had been cracked! Of course, I pointed it out to them right away, and even when looking at the vehicle inspection sheet they filled out it's clear the windshield was marked as being fine at first, but then that is crossed out and the windshield is marked as being cracked. Well, obviously that was because they were the ones who cracked it. However, they refused to fix my windshield because they claim the break started from a ding that was already in the windshield. I was unaware of there being any ding, but I know they don't cost that much to repair. Once it cracks and spreads though, you have to replace the whole windshield. But the Sunnyvale Toyota Service Center refuses to take resposibility for cracking my windshield. I am very disappointed. I expected better from a place associated with Toyota.

Dishonest about the estimate . Didn't offer free car rental even though I qualified. ( I found out later from their website about the offer). I would not recommend anyone to go there. (or be careful if you have to).

I have mixed feeling about Toyota Sunnyvale's service department.

For the good part, they are quick in greeting you. As soon as you drive in, somebody will come by and greet you. The actual paperwork to get things started won't take long either. This is better than many other dealers, where I have waited half hour or more on both check in and check out.

People are friendly as well. They smile to you, make jokes, make you feel that they are your friends.

Now the not that good part. I had trouble to start my 99 Camry. I went there 3 times!

First time, they said it might be the battery. So they installed a new battery for me. I went home OK. In just couple of days though, I had trouble start the car again. So I went back to the dealer again. This time they said starter was bad. So they changed the starter (by now I've spent $600+). I came home, and it failed to start again. I had to come to the dealer a third time. This time they said the battery they installed the first time was a "defective product". They changed the battery again, and promised this time it will work (I yet need to get the car back).

I really don't like the fact that they let the car out 2 times without noticing that the battery they gave me was bad. I ended up making 6 trips to the dealer - that's a big time sucker. The gave me the explanation that sometimes when you test it at the dealer, the battery may just work, but later it may fail. It is not impossible. But hey, for two times, it went bad very quickly after the car left the dealer. I had thought that a professional service center should have caught such obvious problems... or maybe I'm wrong?

Good selection of Toyota vehicles, however we didn't like the customer service. The salesperson and manager mocked us after we tried to get a bigger discount and the salesperson seemed really cocky. They do have good policies - we actually returned the car after having it for a day (they give you a three day refund policy) but only because we found the exact same car for 1000 less at another dealership.

This dealership really cares about the customer, and has done a great job servicing our vehicles. They only replace something when necessary, and charge less than other dealerships in the area for service. They find problems quickly, and communicate well with their customers.

Their sales people are professional, polite, and competent. I wish I had bought my vehicles here!!!!

PROS: Professional, communicates well
