Since 1994, Gaetano Foiani and Elio De Santo, the owners and operators of Il Moro, have taken great pride in offering a fine dining experience. Il Moro has an extensive wine list featuring more than 100 bottles of wine, ranging from $35 bottles to a $700 bottle of Petrus Merlot. Regular happy hours and wine tastings keep the mood light and social. Wine tastings are held on Tuesdays fron 6pm-8pm. A $30 entry fee gets you wine and Italian finger foods, plus the chance to buy any wine listed at less than $100 for 50 percent off.

The Scene
A bright, spacious oasis tucked into the first floor of a high-rise, the restaurant's patio area, with lush greenery and a waterfall, attracts a black-clad younger crowd, while the airy, high-ceilinged dining room brings in a steady stream of laid-back locals.

The Food
Il Moro features Northern Italian cuisine in all its herb- and garlic-infused glory. Chefs cook in an open-air kitchen, conjuring up routinely spectacular food delivered by a uniformly friendly waitstaff. The grilled portobello mushroom appetizer (a puff pastry packed with Brie, garlic and ham) is a powerhouse for the palate, while the grilled lamb chops (sprinkled with Provencal herbs and swimming in oyster-mushroom sauce) is so juicy and flavor-packed that you'll refuse to share it. Top off your meal with a sinfully sweet caramel-doused pear tart or an ultra-creamy crème brulee, then spend the next six days on the Stairmaster.

I love dining at this restaurant although it has been quite a while since I have made my way over there.

I usually would order their fresh sandwiches at lunchtime, which are reasonably priced considering it is a restaurant.

Usually quite busy at lunch time but always worth the wait.

Ratings_icons Reasonable Price, Great Food and Wine

This is a well known lunch spot for the business people in the area, but unknown to the residents in the area. It is tucked away on the bottom floor of a office building. Once discovered you will continue eating here. It has reasonable prices, but more importantly the food is excellent. There pastas are served al dente and perfect with the various sauces they have. Their servers have full knowledge of the menu and especially the wine. They have a wonderful outside/patio dining table with lights and heat lamps. There is also a perfect family style dining area for private parties. They also serve a vast array of desserts and cakes. This is one of my favorire places to eat italian food.

I attended a birthday celebration for a friend here. Easy parking, greeted by both owners and staff, excellent bar and wonderful wines. The food was beyond compare, from appetozers and antipasti to the entrees and the fabulous desserts (we shared and tried several: all well portioned and sinfully delicious. Every course was hot, fresh, and delicious. The friends I ate with were very impressed, too.The satff treated us like family and the restaurant was beautiful. Thank you for such a memorable evening, Il Moro.I soundly recommend thsi establishment for anything from a romantic dinner to a large group function (the patio was wonderful.)I am looking forward to attending one of the Jazz events. Bravo!

Pros: Great staff, excellent food, beautiful establishment.

Cons: Need more restaurants of this caliber.

I HAVE HAD MANY EVENTS AT IL MORO AND MUST SAY THAT THE FRIENDLY STAFF, GREAT FOOD AND SPECIAL EVENTS DEPARTMENT HAVE ME HOOKED. IF YOU ARE HAVING A SIT DOWN FORMAL EVENT OR A COCKTAIL SOIREE ON THE PATIO YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. THEY ARE ACCOMODATING, AND EVEN CREATE PRIVATE WINETASTING PARTIES FOR THE CONSUMER.

Ratings_icons Never organize a group event here. NEVER. Managed by FEMA?

I had such high hopes -- a pleasant garden area, authentic Italian owner ... but it was far too good to be true.

We had planned a wedding rehearsal dinner here for 60 people, and having never eaten there before, decided to try the place first.

I've been to Italy several times; this was far from authentic, but of a fair enough quality that we chose to proceed with our groups dinner plans.

Well, they kept messing us around on the plans, and offered us several fantastic-sounding deals for the group, only to withdraw them when it came time to finalize the plans. The details are boring and acid burns in my stomach just thinking about it. The co-owner then said "well if you don't like it you can go somewhere else."

Fortunately we did ... and won't be going back.

This place would be great also in Italy (where I'm from). The food is excellent, good service and beautiful ambiance. I would recommend to start with gnocco fritto and salumi, risotto with lamb and caramelized onions as entree and espresso to finish with (one of the best i've tried in LA). The chef is genuinely from Emilia Romagna and he brings here the best of his region.

Pros: food, lambrusco otello, ambience

Cons: mmmm
