One of the best Itallian restaurants in town. Try the cheese and meat ravioli and the shrimp scampi. Everything is homemade so you need to wait a little bit after you order.

High quality food with a great ambiance. I came in for lunch two weeks ago and had the seabass with sauteed spinach. The food was amazing, the service was great and the atmosphere of the restaurant was casual yet upscale.

I attended a birthday celebration for a friend here. Easy parking, greeted by both owners and staff, excellent bar and wonderful wines. The food was beyond compare, from appetozers and antipasti to the entrees and the fabulous desserts (we shared and tried several: all well portioned and sinfully delicious. Every course was hot, fresh, and delicious. The friends I ate with were very impressed, too.The satff treated us like family and the restaurant was beautiful. Thank you for such a memorable evening, Il Moro.I soundly recommend thsi establishment for anything from a romantic dinner to a large group function (the patio was wonderful.)I am looking forward to attending one of the Jazz events. Bravo!

I HAVE HAD MANY EVENTS AT IL MORO AND MUST SAY THAT THE FRIENDLY STAFF, GREAT FOOD AND SPECIAL EVENTS DEPARTMENT HAVE ME HOOKED. IF YOU ARE HAVING A SIT DOWN FORMAL EVENT OR A COCKTAIL SOIREE ON THE PATIO YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. THEY ARE ACCOMODATING, AND EVEN CREATE PRIVATE WINETASTING PARTIES FOR THE CONSUMER.

I had such high hopes -- a pleasant garden area, authentic Italian owner ... but it was far too good to be true.\r
\r
We had planned a wedding rehearsal dinner here for 60 people, and having never eaten there before, decided to try the place first. \r
\r
I've been to Italy several times; this was far from authentic, but of a fair enough quality that we chose to proceed with our groups dinner plans.\r
\r
Well, they kept messing us around on the plans, and offered us several fantastic-sounding deals for the group, only to withdraw them when it came time to finalize the plans. The details are boring and acid burns in my stomach just thinking about it. The co-owner then said ""well if you don't like it you can go somewhere else."" \r
\r
Fortunately we did ... and won't be going back.\r

I love dining at this restaurant although it has been quite a while since I have made my way over there.

I usually would order their fresh sandwiches at lunchtime, which are reasonably priced considering it is a restaurant.

Usually quite busy at lunch time but always worth the wait.

This place would be great also in Italy (where I'm from). The food is excellent, good service and beautiful ambiance. I would recommend to start with gnocco fritto and salumi, risotto with lamb and caramelized onions as entree and espresso to finish with (one of the best i've tried in LA). The chef is genuinely from Emilia Romagna and he brings here the best of his region.

Tuesday night wine tasting is my new favorite thing thanks to IL MORO! Complimentary appettizersa paired with the wine of the night, fun friendly people who love wine, chic atmosphere and GREAT eye candy, economical $25.00 per person and you get to try 5 wines. The staff is full of life and zest. I felt at home. Also when I have stayed for dinner my satisfaction moved to the next level. The patio is extremely serene and beautiful with an amazing waterfall. Great date place.

I went there as they were one of the participants of the dineaboutLA. I was rather disappointed as I felt that they should be showcasing their best in the dineabout menu, I hope they weren't as I felt their italian food was just mediocre. I had their eggplant wrapped mozzarella cheese as a starter which was good but not great, their lobster and shrimp tortellini which the tortellini was a tad too thick and salty. Desserts were just alright. \r
\r
They were really busy I did feel as though that the kitchen was very efficient however, their front of house was not trained to handle the restaurant at full capacity. I saw tonnes of dishes waiting to be served but wait staff could not get to them in time. Service was alright but not great. \r
\r
Maybe I should not have ordered from their dineaboutLA menu but I felt dinner rather disappointing and felt I could have been better satisfied easily at another restaurant.

We've now eaten here three times and every time has been incredible. We're always seated promptly. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and the tables are so comfortable! The service here is top-notch. The menu is fairly large and very well-priced. We've tried a variety of dishes and they've all been wonderful. We will continue to frequent Il Moro and highly recommend checking it out!

Pros: Delicious food, large menu, incredible service, romantic, beautiful decor

Had a business lunch here and ordered the halibut special which was prepared simply in a wine/lemon sauce. I have eaten a LOT of halibut, coast to coast, and without question, this fish was the absolute most delicious I have ever tasted. If it is available, don't hestitate to order it!

Wow, I can't believe that I've lived in LA almost 10 years and have never heard of this place. Had an amazing salad and cured meats for an appetizer. The wine was amazing. Pizza was ok. Service was impeccable. The happy hour is insane, there must have been 10 plates full of food and no one eating it!

Was introduced to Il Moro by a friend who works in the area. It's his regular lunch spot, because it's nearby, and it's very good.\r
\r
The happy hour is fantastic. A wide selection of interesting wines and beers (they also offer a tasting selection of various wines) at very reasonable prices.\r
\r
The main attraction is the fantastic and free happy hour buffet. Lots of goodies like tomatoes 'n' basil 'n' mozarella, bruschetta, crusty bread broiled with parmigiano reggiano atop, miniature shrimp cocktails, roasted chicken breast hunks on kabobs, endives with goat cheese and more.\r
\r
You can have a great early dinner with drinks for less than the price of lunch at places of comparable quality.\r
\r
Clean, good looking restaurant. Only downside is service was just okay; a very attractive but very ditzy and inattentive hostess was the primary service during the time we were there.\r
\r
I'm looking forward to going back for dinner sometime. Supposedly it's quiet during dinner, because it's mainly a lunch place. Happy hour wasn't very busy in the middle of the week.

'Il Moro' was truly a great find. Tucked away in an unassuming office tower courtyard in a quiet part of town, 'Il Moro' is LA's undiscovered Italian gem. The prices are very reasonable (the wine especially is a bargain) and the food is impeccable and authentic. The main dining room is minimalist is shades of white, beige and black, and the courtyard is very charming with loads of greenery, a babbling brook (which completely covers any traffic noise), and shimmering candlelight. Great food, cheap wine, knowledgeable service -- I am *definitely* coming back here!

I usually read reviews with a little bit of suspicion, but the LA Weekly roundup of the best Italian restaurants in LA was intriguing...we can't get enough good Italian in LA! This place was extraordinary - the food was as good as anywhere we have tried recently, but it was much more affordable than comparable places! My waiter was from Italy and could not have made us feel more welcome.

Usually the service is great here, but lately I have noticed that the food taste different. The KM is a bit heavy handed on the salt. The last two times I went. But over all it's a nice place and wine selections is tremendous! Oh, skip the dessert, the dessert is very average, have it some where else. I've tried almost all of them and it's okay.

The title of my tave says it all. I had pasta with meat sauce, and one with spicy sauce, toamtoes stuffed with tuna, these chicken taquito things, crab salad, mushrooms stuffed with herbed goat cheese, all kind of italian meats and cheeses, calamari, and so much more. how much did all this cost you may ask? NOTHING, it was all free. the food spread varies from day to day, but its all free. the drinks i think are regular price, not sure though, all i had where 2 cokes, my friend had 2 glasses of wine. the service was god, but i still cant get over the free food, it was yummy too! Go there, well, maybe dont, i dont want them to stop giving the food away!

You can't really see this place from Olympic Blvd (the entrance is on Purdue) so obviously these guys are relying on word of mouth to get their customers - which might be why everything was so wonderful! It's a beautiful restaurants with a sleek bar area, lovely spacious dining room with a glassed-in private room, and a garden with lots of heat lamps where all the young people eat (inside, where I was, was a slightly older crowd. Outside was young hipsters). First we sat at the bar and flipped through their excellent beer menu, which had thorough descriptions, and had one of the best beers I've ever had in my life (oerbier). When our entire party was there the hostess (very sweet and friendly) seated us promptly. While we looked over the menu they brought us bread and an excellent fresh tapenade. All of our food, from our appetizers (please try the tuna tar tar) to the entrees (the lamb chops and pasta with pork cheek were the stand out hits) to the dessert were all amazing. Zero complaints. Prices were actually low considering how great everything was: pastas were all under $20 and meat entrees were all under $30.\r

I'd recently had some not-so-good experiences with Italian and was hoping to have a good meal for a change. Il Moro delivered the goods! We were slightly put off by the $4.50 valet so we parked two blocks down the street for free and walked up. The bar area up front was elegant but empty. We were wondering where everyone was when a hostess greeted us and led us to our friends who were already seated. We started off with some sourdough and olive spread which was simple but tasty. My girlfriend and I split the spinach salad with goat cheese and a vinagrette dressing which was very good. For my main course, I had the Linguini Mare Monti with shrimp and the tomato-based cream sauce was excellent! My girlfriend had the Lasagna Bolognese which was amazing. We each ended up trying the other's dishes and my friend's Costiccine (lamb chops) were smoky and flavorful. They have an excellent assortment of Belgian beer as well. It was a bit chilly Saturday night but we'd love to come back and eat out on their patio, which was sprinkled with heat lamps everywhere. The best part is, it's only like $18-20 for entrees! Absolutely fantastic experience and I would absolutely go back again!

My family dines out often, but rarely do we enjoy the professionalism of this place! Close your eyes and you are in Italy - open them and you are in Milan! We love this place, and it can stand up to ANYONE on the west side, even Valentino, for half the price. (hint: ask the owner for wine advice - he prides himself on finds that noone else will have and that you will have never heard of in your life!! This is wine lovers dream!!

Hope you don't get the waiter we got (on the patio) because he's lucky he still has a job.\r
(but unlucky for customers)\r
\r
Worst service & attitude from a waiter we've ever experienced.\r
(and the Italian gentleman who answers the phone is very unfriendly)\r
\r

I have been a guest at Il Moro for years and it has always been a treat. The people are wonderful and go out of their way to make us feel like family. The dining is exceptional - the closest thing I have experienced to being in Italy - and for very reasonable prices. Now that it has been rediscovered by the LAT, who praised it (10/5/06) it is likely to be packed - be sure and make a reservation in advance - or just do what we usually do: stop into the wine bar, where for the price of a glass or two, they fill the bar with antipasti and treats. Marvellous!

We just returned from dinner to celebrate a birthday. A very special occasion that was spoiled by the waiter. It is true that the service you receive can make or brake a dining experience. Our waiter was unfriendly, impatient, uninformed & rude from the moment we ordered drinks. Also, he ignored us all night. We had to ask for everything. We complained to the hostess who had to come to his rescue. She was wonderful. We got nothing for our birthday, not even a candle on a strawberry, which they gave to the people at the next table because they were related to the owner. I guess if you want to feel special at this place you have to be a relative of the owner. What's so interesting is that this month we went to the Ivy & Spago ( we have 4 birthdays this month) and they both gave us a candle on a small desert & wished us a Happy Birthday. This place should take a lesson from the better places in L.A. As far as the food, it was just so so. The prices thay are charging now, you can get a better meal elsewhere. The only thing good about this place is they have a beautiful patio just perfect for a hot summer night.

I love this restaurant. They just completed a nice remodel, and the place looks great. The food is awesome and fairly-priced, especially for this caliber of Italian food. The patio is great on a warm night. I have been eating here for years and the only drawback is it seems the clientele is a little on the older side.

I decided to go to West Side Pavilion for some shopping with my son. We were getting hungry and I remember that there was a great Italian restaurant a few blocks away. We arrived with no reservations and even though the patio was closed today due to the rain and the main dining room was completely full, we were accommodated by the manager right away. The food was exceptionally delicious as I remember and the service was superb. What impressed me the most about this place is that it's child friendly. Il Moro will be seeing more of us here whether for lunch or dinner.

Pros: Price is right, Child Friendly, Quality Food

.

I have been a regular to a lot of Italian Restaurants, but Il Moro surprised me with Rustic and innovating dishes. The ambiance is romantic and inviting. It is evident that a lot of thought and care has been taken into expecting 100% customer satisfaction to their guests. The menu will not disappoint you. Il Moro's chef will keep you coming back for more. I can't wait for the new and improved renovations to be completed. It will include a full service bar. I look forward to my next visit.

My family and I dined at Il Moro last week and we were extremely pleased with the service and attention given to our family. The waiters are friendly and responsive with your order. The Banquet Manager, Lucy Foiani, made certain that we experienced an enjoyable and satifying evening. Let me tell you; the food is great! Our party was presented with patio seating which only positive comments were whispered by my family members as we were being seated. If you love Italian food, give Il Moro a try. You won't be disappointed.

I had friends in from out of town who requested to dine al fresco, and not knowing too many places in the LA area (that weren't along the pier/beach and I found this through LA Weekly in Jonathan Gold's column. The food was a bit on the pricey side for the quantity, and everyone's dishes seemed a bit on the salty side. The soups and appetizer salads were very good (the spinach and goat cheese was tasty). I'd go back to sit on the patio for drinks and dessert.

This is a well known lunch spot for the business people in the area, but unknown to the residents in the area. It is tucked away on the bottom floor of a office building. Once discovered you will continue eating here. It has reasonable prices, but more importantly the food is excellent. There pastas are served al dente and perfect with the various sauces they have. Their servers have full knowledge of the menu and especially the wine. They have a wonderful outside/patio dining table with lights and heat lamps. There is also a perfect family style dining area for private parties. They also serve a vast array of desserts and cakes. This is one of my favorire places to eat italian food.

Dining at Il Moro since the day the restaurant opened has been nothing but a pleasant experience.
My wife and I, and on occassion with friends, have always had an enjoyable dinner. The service has been exceptional. With respect to the food, every single plate on the menu seems to be made with only satisfying our personal satisfaction.
I would recommend Il Moro for both the ambience
and, especially, the cuisine.

It's a gorgeous Italian restaurant and I recommend it highly for dates--make sure you nab a patio seat. I went with some friends and the waiter we had basically got annoyed with us taking pictures. He was very rude and basically threw the food at us, and never helped us after that. We gave him a $20 tip for 3 people. My food was okay, but not for $40. My two other friends took one bite and politely stopped eating. When we left, we tried to say good bye to the waiter, but he TURNED HIS BACK TO US (he's like 40...immature?). Perhaps they should hire waiters who enjoy working in the business. I don't think all the waiters are like that, but if you get our waiter, you might as well end your evening right there. If you don't order wine, the waiter will get mad.

Like another reviewer I was also taken here by my girlfriend for our monthly anniversary. The patio is beautifully decorated w/a small waterfall, pond and garden. The food is great and tastes like what I imagine authentic italian cuisine would taste like. It was certainly better than many pricier italian restaurants I've eaten at in LA that claim authentic cuisine (ie. Il Cielo, Celestino). Both my girlfriend and I had pasta which included their handmade pasta. It was some of the best I've ever had. Generally the clientele seems older, with people in their 40's+ as the norm. As a side note, If you want to avoid the $3.50 valet fee then self-parking can be found along the residential streets on Purdue, north of Olympic blvd. Overall this is a great restaurant with superb authentic cuisine, a great atmosphere and very reasonable prices.

My girlfriend picked this restaurant for our monthly anniversary dinner. Easy parking... plenty of parking space on the street. Great atmosphere... the decor and soft lighting add a sense of romance. Fantasic service... waitress who served us was very attentive to our every needs. Great food... my girlfriend had a pasta dish, and I had a lamb dish, both were delicious. We'll definitely go back again.

My girlfriend and I go here every few months or so. We always sit outside in their little ""garden"". Ask for the artichoke salad (it's not on the menu), it's awesome. Another great starter is the asparagus with cheese and mushroom sauce. It's not on the menu either anymore, but they are usually happy to make it.

The seafood is in my experience only so so, at least compared to the excellent pasta (so go for that).

They have good vegetarian dishes, so this is a great Italian place to go if you are not big on meat.

Il Moro has terrific Italian food served by authentic Italian waiters and waitresses. This made for a very unique and authentic ""Italian"" experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a taste of Italy.

The entrees are well-portioned for the price. The Ceasar Salad dressing is out of this world. It's a place for romance, signing a deal or just being there for a GOOD MEAL!
