Previous guy had it right. It's a Shack, but a fun one! Fun night out with out-of-towners --- heck even in-of-towners. Right across the street from the Red Lion Tavern. Get your grub on, then your drink on.

Have gone to the Tiki Ti numerous of times, each time better than the last. Drinks may be a bit pricey for the norm, but this place and these drinks are nothing near the norm. After a few drinks, you are guaranteed to be shouting "OOGA BOOGA" by the end of the night. You will know exactly what i mean after you go. Tiki Ti, best place to have a few drinks and hang with some friends before going to a game, club, party or other large hangout.

Tiki Ti has been the right choice for the huamn beings like us.

Pros: What is it?

Cons: The right choice

If I could run a bar out of my garage, it would be Tiki Ti. I love this place, it has real, dead blowfish hanging from the ceilings, out-of-state license plates and a grotto in the corner! What else does a bar need?
Oh yeah, they have some of the strongest cocktails I've ever had.

It is fun when the entire bar starts screaming when certain drinks are ordered. The drinks can be a little pricey, but it is worth going there for 1 drink before going out elsewhere. Would reccomend to anyone to go for a drink and bring a date there between dinner and maybe the 4100.

This place is just a fun experience that everyone needs to try once. It can sometimes get overhyped, but it's fun nevertheless. Drinks are expensive, but they have a lot of alcohol and it's fun to have a big group there together. Also the place is SMALL, so get there early to get a spot.

Went to this place for the first time over the weekend and it was awesome. I've always liked good drinks that are STRONG and this place delivers. The place is small and has regulars galore, so get there early if you plan on getting a seat. It's standing room only as it gets later, and there's a line outside Fridays and Saturdays. (Not sure about other nights). The drinks are not cheap, but they are worth the price! For once. There is not any food, except a tub of bar 'snax', and they only accept cash. The crowd inside is socialable and fun. The decor is great and theres a lot of things to look at. The bartenders are friendly and have tons of stories to share. Oh yeah, and also the bar is owner-operated so smoking here is allowed. That will probably turn off a lot of non-smokers, but as an ex-smoker I wasn't bothered in the least. I miss this place already and am looking forward to going again.

Want something different, try try Tiki Ti. It's a very, very small Tiki bar near the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset Blvd. They havea wild assortment of drinks (no food) and some drinks require the audio participation of he crowd. It's a little strange at first but once you get into it it's fun chanting "torro torro" as the bartender pours rum.

People are allowed to smoke there which wasn't appealing to me but the atmosphere and the regular polite customers made up for it.

Give it a shot.

It's not very big and it doesn't look like much from the outside but once you step inside, you are transported to a world of tiki. Be warned that since it is an owner operated business, they do allow people to smoke inside the bar but it's a small inconvenience to enjoy a strong mixed drink. The founder of this bar, Ray Buhen, was a "mixologist" from Hawaii that started this bar in the 60s. The area around it has changed and Ray is no longer with us but his son Mike and grandson Mike Jr. are the guys working the bar and they are doing Ray proud. The drinks to get are the Ray's Mistake and the Bayanihan. If you are up for a challenge, order the Blood-and-Sand and enjoy the Toro!

This little tiki shack is the cutest bar I've been to. Though it's small space can't really allow you to move around too much (they only let in a strict capacity of 50 people at a time). This father-son duo can really crank up the drinks, and they're all given funky names too~ They really go all out with decorating the place... they have hawaiian/beach paraphenelia covering every inch of the place! And the friendly, family-like vibe you get in this place is truly unique!

This bar is really fun. That's what it's all about - the bartenders are fun, the crowd is fun and the drinks are fun. Is a down and dirty fun time. I wouldn't come here if I were looking to feel "cool" or pick up, but if I'm trying to go out with the girls, get some strong drinks and laugh the night away - here's where I'll be.

I have been going to the Tiki Ti since 1971. Would have gone sooner but it was illegal! Three generations of bartenders and unlimited good times. This family owned business is held sacred in the hearts of many, many patrons. Mike and Mike Jr. are the best tropical drink Dr.s anywhere. The regulars are like extended family. Everyone is made to feel welcome. Wish I still lived just down the street. If you don't have a good time here, you need professional help! The space is small and gets packed on most nights. Go early, go late and wait, but just go!

There's a drink for everyone here. It's small, the music varies (not the same predictable stuff), and yes the drinks are pricey. But totally worth every penny. Each drink is a work of art. If you haven't been, what the hell are you waiting for?

Ok, do NOT drive from Redondo beach for this place, it's essentially a fun neighborhood place about the size of two cars. Beware of the schedule, the place used to open when the owner felt like it. This is a perfect addition to a hollywood pub crawl; the 4100 room and Red star around the corner (walking distance if needed). Drinks are cash only, strong, and taste great so beware. Beware, the place is tiny - but a great kickoff or ending place for one drink.

Pros: strong drinks that taste great; cheaper/faster than trip to hawaii

Cons: tiny, and you're unlikely to pick anyone up there. Import your own.

To the people who didnt like the place, I have a few words don't go back you take up space needed by the true patrons. Father and son team that mix the best drinks in LA. Dont be afraid to try different drinks, especially Blood N Sand(yes it's pricey but worth it), two of these will have you crawling if you can't handle your alcohol very well. Always an eclectic crowd(young and old alike), no attitudes like other bars in LA. Get there early, the line gets long and be ready to wait a while(not much space inside). If you can leave your LA attitude outside the door and know the true meaning of Aloha, you'll enjoy this place that much more. Never seen any fights break out, the bouncer/door checker is usually Mike's mom and wife, they get a lot of respect from the regulars. Enjoy.

although the size and some of the cheesy decorations may throw you off at first, you'll come to love it in the course of one night. Maybe it's the strong drinks, that are so tantalizing, but every 15 minutes you'll find yourself looking around and saying, "I like this place". And by the end of the night, you'll wish you didn't give up your seat and you'll want to plan to go back.

brought out-of-town friends here and ended up feeling embarrassed. drinks are ridiculously expensive and made with liquor you can get at 7-11. i might be wrong, but i get the sense that positive reviews for this place are being written by insiders. what's the deal here?

as an l.a. native, this place was a great disappointment. my drink was made with second-rate liquor and was weak. the price for three mediocre drinks? $35.00. one should expect top shelf liquor for that, but you get mediocrity. we ended up feeling ripped off and left after one drink. be careful.

I don't understand why this place has so many great reviews. This place is way too small. We had to stand the whole time and it was a Wednesday! There are plenty of bars better than this one!! The atmosphere was nice but nothing extraordinary. I will agree that their exotic drinks are great. We had the Ray's Mistake and it was very good. But overall, I was a bit disappointed. This place is worth a visit but don't expect too much.

If you've never been to Tiki Ti, you haven't experienced LA like you should. A small, family-owned bar the size of someone's living room, this bar makes the most potent yet delectable drinks that will guarantee to have you drunk before you know it. The drinks are pricey - on average it's about $14 - but make no mistake, one bloody mary is equivalent to having at least 4 vodka tonics at a regular bar. One of the last bars that allows smoking inside, they also offer free snacks and an island decor. Plus it's a lot of fun when you yell "Tora!" as they pour tequila every time. You might not get in if you go any time after 9pm, but it's well worth the wait. Just make sure you eat and someone is monitoring your drinking so you don't get too crazy.

You'll kick yourself if you miss out on this special place! It couldn't be more tiki or more fun. Go as early as you can to get a good seat and be ready to meet great people and soak up great atmosphere. We met a couple of authors, an artist and a Rasta-grandpa. The conversation flowed as easily as the drinks. Don't have more than one Jim's special unless you want to crawl home. Note: even though they allow smoking, the ventilation system is very good. We hardly noticed it.

This bar is small but jam-packed with fun. I have been there a couple of times and had a blast - both the people who work there and those who frequent the bar are nice and in search of a good time.

As I favor drinks with fruit and umbrellas, this place tops my list of places to come for yummy drinks. The only drawbacks are that it is small and parking can be a pain.

Note: Do not park in the lot across the street, as they tow.

One magazine called the Tiki Ti "the last great neighborhood bar" -- that was more than two decades ago. I think the founder was the original bar boy at Hollywood's old Don the Beachcomber; then his son took over, and now the grandson is on. The specialities are POWERFUL high-alcohol rum drinks, but their titles don't tell you much -- you have to ask what's in them. Uniformly smooth, delectable, and deceiving in that two drinks will put you well into DUI land (for small gals, just one). Crowd varies from film directors to local toughs. Decor is straight out of a Jon Hall jungle movie. Fills up early and standing room only crowd can make it tough to order and enjoy the joint, so get there early and make sure and bring your I.D.; whether you're 21 or 81, you'll be 86'd without it.

This tiny shack of a bar has been an LA institution for almost four decades. I've always had a good time there, even though I'm not a smoker and this is a smoker's bar because it's owner operated. The owners are incredibly friendly, and their warmth is definitely contagious. Don't let the divey, laid-back atmosphere fool you, though. Drink prices here are strictly top-shelp.

Be careful, 'cause these drinks are lethal. Don't miss the legendary rum-based Ray's Mistake. I suggest walking home afterward. Tiki Ti is also a nice escape from the uber-hipster bars of Los Feliz and Silver Lake. Love that classic rock soundtrack. Last time I was there, I rocked out to the Best of Hall & Oates.

It seemed like every time I wanted to go to Tiki Ti, they were closed while the owners went fishing (this happens several times per year). So, imagine my surprise when I walked past it one night to find the doors open.

Just my luck, it was a Wednesday, the one a week you can get a drink there for less than $9 (provided it's a Ray's Mistake -- half off).

The mix was great -- equal parts 20-something hipsters and older patrons as well.

Had a great time.
