I searched around for a 2009 civic hybrid and was able to find a decent priced one here. Had a quote over the phone. Got to the dealership and due to the fact that I was paying cash, I was there for over 3 hours! Then when all the paperwork was being signed, I noticed a $371 charge for wheel locks, splash guard and a rubber cover for the inside of the trunk - all of which we did not ask for. I told them to take it off (wheel locks run all of $30 at any auto parts store). I specifically didn't want the rubber mat in the back as it is just a pain to deal with when getting to the spare tire. So he took the wheel locks off and the rubber mat but he "couldn't" take off the splash guards because it is now part of the car. Then he told me later on that the reason all of that stuff was on a base model car is that a few months ago the service folks didn't have much to do and were just slapping options on cars. What a load! The sales guy - last name Gooch - was very unfriendly, unattentive and every little thing was a hassel. Then on our way out he pulled the "oh you will get a call from customer service asking to rate me, can you give me a good rating...". Yeah right man, I gave you an easy sale and you tried to push more, bet you didn't expect me to read every document you pushed my way.
I am not surprised to see such a low rating of this dealership [Dublin Honda, CA] on many web sites.
I will NOT recommend any one to go to this dealership, unless they drastically change their attitude and practices of doing business. My experience with them was horrible. I was quoted a Price for 2009 Honda Pilot, and in a day told via email and phone that the particular vehicle is no longer available. The same day I walked in the Dublin dealership, and was offered same vehicle @ ridiculous price [actually they had two of the same model/color/trim]. They just backed off from their internet quote.
They were non-courteous and rude to the extent that when my wife asked for water, while I was out with the sales person for test drive, she was pointed to the vending machine by the receptionist.
I am going to report this to Consumer Relations and to Honda USA.
I bought my very first "new" car from Dublin Honda 5 years ago. The service was excellent. I did not feel pressured into my purchase and will go back in the future. The maintenance/repair service is pricey, like all dealerships, but it is also convenient as they have a shuttle to take you to work and pick you up at the end of the day.
