Udupi Palace

We went to Udupi Palace, Sunnyvale to have onion masala dosa and cheese- uttapam. The uttapam was not tasty at all and we could not eat it much.

The place lacks ambiance, moreover the food was unhygienic.

After staying in US for some time, we tried Udupi Palace in Sunnyvale. The food looked and tasted great. Huge paper DOSA rolled in Cone fashion and Uddina Vade were great.

Our first impression was that of visiting one of local hotels in Bangalore! It has that kind of environment. We were surprised by the way things were organized, poorly lit interiors, dusty glass windows. Compared to other Indian Restaurants in the Bay Area, there was no Karnataka Flavor. Forget any Music - Kannada anyone !!! If Udupi management is reading this review, please for God sake WAKE UP.

Udupi palace is very well known for its vegetarian south Indian dishes.Their delicacies like onion rava , uttapam are very tasty.We had a great experience enjoying the food there.

I love the way Udupi management has pulled up their socks and is providing better quality food to its customers. A few years ago, Udupi was famous for its large portions but slowly their quality of food was deteriorating. Now, they have come up to par. Their portions are smaller but I am not complaining. Their quality is definitely getting better everyday.

Sunnyvale is full of great Southern Indian restaurants, and this is one of the best of them. The interior is not much to look at but the food is amazing.

I enjoyed the Special Thali which is a sampler of all kinds of sauces. The Special Rava Masala Dosa was also amazing, with a great filling. We also had an appetizer sampler which had all kinds of idlys and lentil donuts and such.

The food is spicy but not too hot so you won't be dying at the end of your meal.

PROS: Great food, great prices
CONS: Interior not much to look at

Eversince my parents came to United States of America/Sunnyvale in the month of November, we have visited Udupi Palace restaurant more than three times. Food prepared is tasty and delicious Particularly my father is very much after Udupi palace for its spacious seats, Table arrangements, less waiting time. This Desi Restaurant is known for both NorthIndian and South Indian delicacies. Chat items are also part of their menu. tHEY ARE cLEAN, tIDY AND PREPARE THE ITEMS IN A HEALTHY ATMOSPHERE. One thing we have noticed is that the prices are a little more expensive when compared to the other Indian Restaurants in the area. Better if they expand their business by opening more restaurants in silicon valley and other Indian dominated areas in silicon valley.

When this place first opened many years ago, I remember people telling me that this is the most amazing place for south Indian food. I went and it was quite good. But I went again and it wasn't as good as before anymore.

If you like south indian food, then udupi is the right place.The vadas are very tasty.Prices are not that bad. Lunch buffet is very good.Parking is a problem. Weekends are not the good time to go to udupi as it will be crowded.

When this started, the food was very tasty and this was first south indian restuarant then. Now i feel that they are not maintaining the quality of the food. Last week i visited and they have started buffet in the morning and i did'nt like the food.

This restaurant has very enjoyable vegetarian indian food. I'm not all that familiar with indian food, but I have enjoyed the food each time I went there. It can be quite crowded and the restaurant is very loud and clangy. But it's worth the wait and the slightly uncomfortable setting to give it a try.

This is IMO the second best place in the bay area for south indian food (after Saravanabhavan). The food is very good and the service awesome. Parking for this restaurant is limited which is a bother. We usually call them up in advance, order our stuff and go pick them up after a bit. Because of the parking problem, I am usually sitting in my car when my wife runs in to pick up our order. Highly recommended.

If you like south indian food, go to Udupi. The dosas and vadas are tasty and the halping are large. Prices are not too bad. Parking is worrisome on weekends and evenings.
Overall, good place to eat.

CONS: less parking

South Indian food - no place even comes close to the food served at Udipi Palace. Best deal - get their combo - get a great dosa (tons of options) or a uttapam (abt 9 options and will make one the way you like too ) with a idli and sambar. Open till late on Saturdays and Sundays too, is our default option when we run out of ideas abt where to go eat. Must go for south indian food! I wish they had a frequent eater program, my wife and I would be on top of their list :)

PROS: Great food, quick service
CONS: Less parking

Udupi is for those people who still miss Southern India and crave for the southern india food. Udupi has great options in Dosas, Vadas and other south indian food. Great prices and great services even though service lave a lot to desire on weekends and so does the parking. but all in all a great experience for south indian food. Open till 11 on weekends
