Great kabobs! They even have the yogurt sauce which is hard to find at most restaurants for this nature. The portions are gigantic. Enough to share between two people. They even have a take out window so you can call ahead and take it to

Absolutely amazing Persian/Mediterranean food. Get the Chicken Soltani, and you'll have enough food for *three* meals (I'm not kidding - I get this as take-out frequently, and it always lasts for at least three meals). Very generous

Ok, I read some of the reviews and yes, the decor could be improved upon. But they have nice outdoor seating, which is great during the summer. So, aside from the decor, this restaurant is fantastic. It's got great tasting food. Like

I used to come to Raffi's and get their chicken kebob when I worked in the area a couple of years ago. Service isn't as friendly if you don't speak the language, but the chicken was always amazing. I can't say much for the other dishes

Raffi's Place redefined my pleasure palates for Middle Eastern/Armenian cuisine. After trying out their kabobs (fish, chicken and beef) I will never attempt to have it somewhere else! Their Chicken Koobideh is my most favorite dish from the menu; it's served hot and fresh from the grill. The servings, by the way, are enormous and can be shared by two (if you eat in small portions). Shallot yogurt and eggplant dip with flat bread are so addicting I must say. Lastly, all the items in their menu are reasonably priced for the quality of food and excellent customer service you get!

I gotta say that this place has one of the best kabobs! This place is always crowded. It also tastes authentic too.

Parking is pretty bad, but once you avoid that dilemma, everything is a sweet breeze.

The appetizers are way too expensive. The Shirazi salad is not even flavorful with rough parsley in it. The portions of the meat are big, but it is too expensive. It is double the price of other places. On the weekends the food is better. If you order to go, you don't get as good or as much. Parking is horrible. The chairs and utensils need to go!

Like most "authentic" restaurants, this one was good several years ago when it was new and trying to impress. It didn't take long for this restaurant to rest on its laurels and forget about its partons. The quality of meat - the main dish at a Persian restaurant - has diminished and is now dry and rubbery without much flavor. But most important, that feeling of being welcomed by a host - a key ingredient in Persian culture as well as independent restaurant culture - has been replaced by a busy and careless arrogance. They don't care if you loved the food or not. They don't care about telling you that they don't take reservations but then save large tables for special guests while you sit and wait for thirty minutes. They don't care if their careless Valet staff dings up your car and then says "Prove to me that it wasn't like that when you got here." They just don't care. There are still independently run restaurants in LA where the owners care about their customers' comfort and satisfaction. Raffi's is no longer one of those places.

Pros: Decent Appetizers

Cons: Everthing Else

The food here is simply excellent. The atmosphere is bit on the spartan side and slightly cheesy, and the wine list is both short and undistinguished, but you go there for the food and not much else, and the food never disappoints.

Well for starters this is my first review to post.
In my opinion Raffis Place has the best BBQ yummy tasteful, and you always want to go back for more although it does fill you up. My favorite is the Boneless chicken barg and there eggplant dip.
Love the environment its very nice to go somewhere that reminds you of back home the middle east.
Also the whole crew there is super friendly.
And who knows you might run into a long lost friend at Raffis has happened to me plenty of times.
Try it you wont regret it...

Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service, Great food.

Cons: Only con is that I can't take my little puppies along like some other out door restaurants. ;(

Food is OK. It seems to be the closet to the kabob houses in Iran. Menu is simple and small. Side orders are very expensive. The decor is very poor. The plastic chares and tables need to go. The utensil?s need replacing and at times have food residue on them. Parking is horrible, especially for those with to-go orders. The owners on the other hand, very arrogant. It is a very expensive kabob house and some appreciation would be nice. Unfortunately no other kabob house like this one exists in Glendale so occasionally I order to-go from Raffi?s (they are lucky), otherwise I would avoid Raffi?s. In fairness I should also say that we always find ways to criticize but that?s how things get better and improve.

Cleanness: C

Price: D
Restaurant Decor/Tables and chares: D

It's one thing to be arrogant about your restaurant IF the food is good....but this place? I don't know what all you 4 and 5 star people think kebab is but this place isn't.

The food is mediocre at best...the meat is pretty low quality crap....don't believe me? Take some home and try and eat it the next day...it'll make you hurl it's so greasy and fatty...and poor cut.

The service...oh the service. There's a saying in Armenian...people become very smug and arrogant when their stomach is full. The owners of this place are just that. They got REAL lucky with the success of this place...I know because my sister's friend's brother (who's name was Raffi....was the original owner who, at the time, had a VERY hard time getting it off the ground. These idiots role in, buy the place, and somehow the place takes off. I ate at the orginal joint and it was truly good. This place...the service suc$$s, the food suc$$s, the people who come there are complete wannabe seen d$$chebags.

If you like that sort of thing, you'l fit right in...Lord knows, as an Armenian myself I know too well how shallow and pretentious and judgemental Armenians can be...and "Raffi's Place" is a perfect breeding ground for that...it ain't the food they come for, it's the outdoor-ish downtown Cairo feel they come for...where everyone is looking at each other and sizing each other up. Quite pathetic.

If you want real Armenian kebab, try Carousel, try Helena's, try Olive Branch....forgive this place...it's junk packaged nicely.

This is the second time we have dinner at Raffi's.
Again, the food was quite good, the service was slightly slow but was professional.
The ground chicken was great.
The place was clean and the bathrooms were spotless.

Very tasty, great service, nice location. They have highered their prices recently and now they seem to be less busy, but the portions are large enough to share, so it is worth it.

This is the place we always go to when no one can decide what they're in the mood for. It's a great place for large groups and family since it tends to get a bit noisy, but its still very cozy. Every table gets a plate of greenery which is exceptionally fresh and HEALTHY!! Prices aren't exactly cheap but you get what you pay for. Portions are big and filling! Some say the rice is bland because it doesn't have crazy ingredients mixed in but if you know middle eastern foods then you know this is exceptional rice (try making rice this way at home and you'll end up with sticky Chinese style rice-- no really give it a try!) So, in conclusion, if you want great tasting Persian-Armenian food this is the place for you to be!

We went to Raffi's last night after seeing a movie in Glendale. Many people had recommended this place and it is the time of year to enjoy outdoor dining. It seemed promising, many tables were filled, the waiters were hopping and we were seated promptly. While the menu states that it is Armenian and Persian cuisine, I did not find much in the way of Iranian dishes. The greens and onion served at the start was nice. A saucer of hummus for $5 seemed a bit high. An appetizer platter could add to the menu. The kabob plates were large portions and a fair value for the price ($16). As the steak is thin, it is difficult to have the seak cooked to order. The rice was quite boring. Service was less that expected. Requests for drinks needed to be made twice. We had to wave at the waiter more than once to obtain his attention. But the biggest drawback was that the food was uniformly unremarkable. There are many other more interesting restaurants to try.
No reservations, can be loud, limited menu, large portions, I would recommend you share a kabob plate.

This is a small restaurant, but has really good food. The chicken kabob here is really good. The portions are big, so it would be ideal to share a plate with a friend. Their rice is also very flavorful. You also have a choice of a number of side dishes that you can order from. The ambience is nice as well. The seating is in an outdoor patio area.

after reading the reviews and hearing from friends how great this place was,i ventured in with an armenian friend and wow..what a dissapointment. a wednesday night and it was not crowded so there was no excuse for the dry as a bone tasteless chicken kabob. my friends barg(filet mignon on a skewer) was good but compared to elena's on glendale ave. this place is overpriced and the food greatly inferior. the basmati rice is as always a yawn. the entree prices approach the $20 mark and i just didn't feel the love.

Not only am I impressed by the food, there staff is amazing. I was a waiter growing up and dining at raffi's made me feel like they really get the whole idea about service, which many resturants these days seem to forget and focus on the money. Speaking of money. I was also impressed by the price of eveything. Not over priced at all, actually a steel for what there offering. Not to mention the amazing staff, they make you feel like asking for anything is not a hassel at all. I have taken many friends and clients there and all of them have pretty much said the same thing, that "this place is the best". I STRONGLY agree.

Raffi's place has the best of everything: a cosy family environment, great food and excellent service. This family-run restaurant uses the best quality meat and amazingly fresh vegetables. Their appetizers are amazing and the luleh kabob is the BEST you will ever have! It is so refreshing to see owners who know their customers by name and who always greet you with a smile. Whether you're going solo, on a date, or with a large group, this is the place to be!

Owned and operated by Armenian-Iranians, this restaurant focuses on kabobs. The outdoor atmosphere is wonderful as is the food. The service is not what the first reviewer suggested. I live in Los Angeles and we have lots of Iranian (Persian) restaurants. This place has the best kabobs. Don't miss it.
PS, don't try to park on the street, they have parking on a nearby structure that is less than one block away.

Our waiter took the order, delivered the food and didnt return. We were out of water, I was out of tea, and no one noticed, despite our efforts to flag someone (any waiter) down, and the fact that we were seated in the MIDDLE of the patio, in plain view of the staff, who was constantly shuffling past us to take new orders, as if we were ignored. Despite it being Saturday night, its not right when patrons seated AFTER us at tables next to us were constantly asked if they needed anything. We finally approached the manager, and suddenly we were valued, after dinner was finished, after we paid our bill.

This place is very yummy! Their kabobs are SO good! They have a lot of outside seating so it's really nice on a nice day. They are not cheap but it's worth it if you want to splurge a little on lunch. It can be really busy at lunch during the week and it's not always fast so make sure you have time for a little longer lunch. Yummy!

Raffis has the best kebobs!!!!
The rice and hummos are also great, me & my husband love going there. The price is great also, and the outside patio seating is very cozy. I would recommend this place to anyone.
