Tartine is an authentic and quaint French cafe and pastry shops serving some of the freshest pastries I have ever tasted. I have ordered everything from breakfast sandwiches, butter croissants, scones, and coffee.
Not only is the food amazing, but the atmosphere is warm and authentically French as well. The prices are also very reasonable - a cup of coffee and breakfast for about $5.
I am from Paris France and frequent several time a week this little Cafe in the Hayes Valley. The service is always done by a young energetic and friendly staff. If you are a Francophile you will be delighted to hear and speak French. In the morning, you will find the coffee and patisseries are better than average. They also offer delicious regional French salads served with their ?secret vinaigrette? for Lunch. The menu also includes a variety of sandwiches, quiches and bagels
Pros: great food and service
Cons: close to french school so sometimes hectic
I asked for a goat cheese topped pastry, and the monkey brained people who work here. put it into the box upside down, cheese facing the bottom, and then turn the box 90 degrees so to destroy the food and make a mess out of it. Idiots, complete idiots. I will never return. Food is fair, and there is much better food elsewhere. Go to Citizen Cake, the crepe house, or almost anywhere else where you will get much better food, and much more intellegent people serving you.
Pros: Conveniert
Cons: Poor food, and monkey servents destroy your food.
Being a student of nearby International School, and being a francophone who frequently visits Paris and the rest of France, I can tell you, this is a truly french bistro. Offering tasty, healthy lunches, the staff speaks french, and Marc, the owner, even teaches at our school sometimes.
Overall, a french gem!
Pros: Good, authentic food, Price
Cons: , Small
A great place to grab a cup of coffee and read a little Camus...
Pros: coffee, location
I love Tartine. They make a really good soy latte. They also have excellent food and its resonably priced. My favorite is the fresh baquettes (tartines) with butter and jam. Also their sandwiches are delicious. I would definitely recommend this cute french cafe to anyone who is looking for a little Parisian experience.
Pros: Inexpensive, Great Service, Good Food
Cons: Parking, Crowded
Located behind the French school in cute Hayes Valley, Tartine serves great coffee, teas, pastry, soup, salads, and sandwiches. Here's the deal...
Step into Cafe Tartine and you feel comfortable. Almost every week there is new art on the walls, and you are always greeted with a smile. Owner Marc is there from sunrise to sunset - and the effort and caring can be seen and felt.
During the school year, Tartine is packed all morning with parents ordering lunches for their kids in the International School next door. Tartine actually delivers the lunches at the appropriate lunch times!!
Start your day with a mild espresso or a sweet soy latte and a bagel with eggs (one of the best breakfast sandwiches in town). Try the children's favorite! A delicious baguette with butter and jam.
For lunch the Lyonnaise sandwich is excellent and they have an excellent mayo-free tuna sandwich.
Pros: tables outside, excellent bagels, open early
Cons: closed sunday, busy mornings
