Wanted to mail a package via UPS and bill to a client. Looked up UPS on information and found the closest and walked in. The first woman I spoke to said they do not mail packages there, unless I had a computer-printed label on a sealed package. I said that is ridiculous, this is a UPS store and there are labels on the front counter. She said we get a lot of complaints and I should call to complain.
I called the UPS 800 number and was told that yes, that particular store had packaging supplies and shipping documents, and that I could put another person's account number on the label.
I went back in and relayed this information to a second woman. She said "we have labels, this is our label" and threw a completely blank stick-on label towards me. I told her the 800 number had said they could do this and she said "How do we know that you have permission to use that account number? How do we know we're going to get paid?" I asked her for the supervisor's name and she said she is the supervisor. I asked for HER supervisor's name and she said it is the owner, and they are not allowed to give out that information. I told her any legitimate business provides the name of its manager or owner to customers. She said she didn't appreciate my slandering comments and implying that this business is sleazy or something. She said that if I call Corporate and refer to store number 3689 they will know who the owner is, I don't need to know. I asked for her name and she said "Jen" and I said I suppose you won't give me your last name and she said "I'm not going to give you personal information, I don't want you looking up my address so you can stalk me".
Incidentally, I called The UPS Store 800 number and reported this to a lukewarm reception, and was told the franchise agreement does not require an owner to give out his name, and I wouldn't be called.
And that's what BROWN did for ME!!!
