After writing this review (8/9/10), simply stating the facts, Victor sent me a nasty email accusing me of slander. Of course, he's more interested in others discovering his bad business practices, rather than showing concern for a client. Not only has he damaged my property, now he's harassing me.

Damaged my home while cleaning and vehemently denied it! I do NOT trust this company & would NEVER use their service. Just BEWARE! Hopefully, you won't have a problem, but if they do break or damage something just know they will NOT admit it, or make amends!

The owner (Victor) & another guy, who looks related, came out (8/6/10) to clean my carpets. I decided to try them out after a friend had referred them. As it turns out, I'd actually used them years before when my sister referred them (I must not have been impressed because I didn't call them back). I've been using another company that I've been pleased with, but thought I'd try someone closer so I took my friends recommendation.

They came out & said it'd take 30 mins. because my carpets weren't very dirty to begin with. I wanted them cleaned for our baby. The cleaning ended up taking much longer, which I'm glad because I wasn't sure how they could clean all of the carpets in the entire house and stairs in 30 mins.??? Victor seemed very annoyed with being at my house to do the job. He kept complaining about everything and seemed very inconvenienced. He was on the phone while the other guy did the cleaning. I over looked his attitude thinking it must be one of those days. I even got his business card to give to my neighbor to whom I was referring their services to. I was definitely planning to use them again. I didn't have bad stains, so I knew I'd be happy with the cleaning (trusted my friends' recommendation) and I decided to overlook his bad attitude thinking, "everyone has a bad day."

When they left, my husband, baby, and I left to allow the carpets to dry (not a good idea to let a baby crawl around on wet carpets with chemicals). Upon returning later in the evening I noticed the white baseboards were scratched up severely in several spots. The stairwell is white, with white baseboards and off white carpet, so the big gashes of brown shining through the once white paint was impossible to overlook. I was shocked! I had just had it painted before the baby was born and now it was ruined. It would have been IMPOSSIBLE not to notice and I'm so disappointed they didn't say anything at the time!!!

I left a very polite message for Victor stating that I'm sure he didn't realize the damage at the time or he would have said something, and that it wasn't a big deal, but I just wanted to let him know. When he called back two days later, he was so rude, arrogant, and defensive. He said that he's been doing this for "X" amount of years and he uses corner guards to prevent this from happening, etc. I explained that he wasn't the one doing the cleaning, and it would have been impossible for him to hover over the other guy's shoulder on the stairs, and that it was not like that before. I invited him to come over with the cleaning tool he used and see for himself that they did in fact do the damage. I again told him it wasn't a big deal, I just wanted to let him know. I wasn't asking for any kind of refund or anything. He was so rude, arrogant, and defensive, just downright horrible! I couldn't believe it!

I then told him about how I was raised in a family business and that his lack of customer service surprised me. How did he expect to get business, doing business that way? I asked him how he could handle situations so poorly and wondered how he thought my friends or I would trust in using his services in the future? He said, "I don't care if you use me again. Find another carpet cleaner!"

I'm so appalled, shocked, and disappointed with Nichols Carpet Cleaning. Their overall lack of customer service, and their terrible attitude is ridiculous. Now that I think about it, while I was referring Nichols to my neighbor, Victor said they always end up breaking or damaging things (when they try to move furniture and so they don't do that). He kept saying how they break and damage things...kept repeating it. It makes me think it was his guilty conscience talking. Once they finished the stairs they wrapped up quick because he was aware of the damage. Of course, he couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Overall, the cleaning was good (4days later spots are back), but it shouldn't be too much to ask to find a good cleaner who won't damage your home in the process of cleaning your carpets. Just know that if something goes wrong when you use them, they will NOT do a darn thing about it.

*I could have stopped payment on the ck & I feel entitled to do so, but I've already had a taste of how Victor is & it just isn't worth it. I'm going to inform everyone of my experience with him and move on.
