20 year old furnace stopped working. Technician came out found bad motor. Gave us options to repair vs replace furnace. Decided to replace furnace. Greatly Satisfied from initial call for service to completion of the installation.

BEWARE!!! My furnace stopped working during the first rainy & cold day this winter. I called General heating & Air conditioning. The technician said I needed two parts, One would cost $315 and the second part would cost over $900. I immediately checked the part prices online, The first part was $40.00 and the second part was $149.00 (full retail price). I paid him a diagnostic fee of $95.00 and asked him to leave. Labor per hour would have been $130.00. Although the diagnosis was correct, the charges were outrageous.

I called a factory authorized service place, their parts were within 20% of the online part price and they charged $65.00 per hour, charging two hours labor to install the parts.

With today's cost of doing business...insurances, employee benefits, fully stock trucks/vans, stocked warehouse, office personnel, fuel prices, etc. We find our prices to be competitive with other reputable companies of our same size. Unfortunately you will always find other companies or individuals to perform repairs and installations at lower and/or higher prices. We pride ourselves in offering the best in customer services, warranties, employee benefits, etc.

After installation, the city inspector found that the fuses did not match the breaker limits, and the exiting water line was dragging the ground which could cause it to clog and should've been cut shorter. The company said they would charge me extra to have an electrician come out, saying it's not part of our contract. We got our own electrician. The city inspector was shocked that this was the company's policy.
On the other hand, the installers were very nice and pleasant, which made the 6 days it took to install tolerable. They accommodated my request for the door to be closed every time they came in and out of the house to keep flies outside. They cleaned up appropriately. The AC would not work and a technician had to be called in, 3 hot July days later, to fix it.

(they actually called to see if they could come a day early) and fixed our problem within a few hours. The service tech was polite friendly and not at all scary. I had no fear of letting him into my house and around my wife and kids

CONS: none i can think off
