Good place to go when you just don't know what to eat. There menu has everything from pasta to mexican. New ownership made this place alot more friendly. A little bit overpriced but the food is also very good.

I've enjoyed dining at Hill Street Cafe since 1997 when it was actually located on Hill Street at Foothill Blvd. They moved to the present location because it offered more dining space.
The portions are always generous and the waiters and waitresses are both attentive and friendly.
Hill Street features a full menu so everyone in your party is sure to be satisfied. My favorite entree is the Chinese Chicken Salad. The half order is plenty. If you're dining with a friend, go for the full order. The lettuce is cold and crisp. I recommend substituting "blackened chicken" as it adds a "kick" to the overall taste. Oh, and you'll love the dressing -- it's delicious.
One of the unique offerings at Hill Street is their soft bread sticks. They are addictive.
Breakfast is a delight. Again, the portions are large so prepare yourself by bringing a big appetite!

Seating is easy, service is usually good, food is great - but the coffee? Surprising that a place that caters to a breakfast crowd would serve coffee that is very WEAK and anything but flavorful. I get a much better cup of coffee at Denny's or McDonald's.

Pros: Good variety of food.

Cons: The worst coffee ever for a place that caters to breakfast crowds.

An extensive menu makes this place a life saver. The new owner seems to be trying hard to make friends, and I think there are more seats now than before. Of course, when it's busy, you feel like you're elbow to elbow with the next table. Anyway, it's about a half-step above a standard diner, and one of the better choices in La Canada, but don't expect to have your socks knocked off. The good stuff at Dish is a little better, but Hill has more choices and less expensive.

I've never had any problems here, but for some reason I'd rather not go here. The food is ok, not great, and service is normal. overrated in my opinion.

Pros: easy to find

Cons: Parking lot is crazy

Had a nice, immense Sante Fe-style omellete here. The service was good and the food tasty, though a bit on the pricy side for breakfast.

I went there for breakfast on a Saturday morning, of course it was crowded, but the service was good, the breakfast was good, and with two active kids it's was a good experience. I would definately recommed this place to friend for very informal dinning.

The thing to remember is this: no matter what you order, you're going to finish with the peach cobbler. It's a big cobbler, warm and oozy, with a light crust floating over the top, a scoop of vanilla ice cream already starting to pool around itself and sweeten the mix before it arrives at the table. So think hard before you order the meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes. (You get three slices.) Or the pot roast and steamed vegetables. (The pot roast is piled in a heap). Or the half of roast chicken (they're big birds). Or even the vegetable plate. Because you're going to finish the cobbler.
