The Soj is a lunch and dinner restaurant. It gets a little fancier at dinner time with cloth napkins wrapped around your silverware. The lights dim, there might be live music. The walls are usually covered with local art. A booth is nice,

Based on reviews, we tried Sojourner Cafe on our recent getaway to Santa Barbara and had a pleasant experience. It was a relaxed cafe with a home-like feel. Our waiter was friendly. I was happy to find Vegan options. The Vegan stuffed pasta shells were very good as well as the Vegan Apple Cherry Crisp Cobbler. It was also very affordable!

Pros: Vegan Dishes That Are Very Tasty! Great Waitstaff! Affordable!

I agree with the other reviews that the Soj is probably the best vegetarian/vegan option in town.. Some of the meals I've had there have been really delicious (especially the seafood and desserts) but every now and then they miss the mark - some of their dishes are bland and uninviting, or even inedible (the stale tortilla chips they serve with their sandwiches are awful). But definitely go for the low rent special and some dessert, or splurge on one of their seafood specials. Also come early in the evening if you want a good selection, by 7 they're usually out of almost everything on the specials and dessert menu and you're stuck with the brown rice and veggie burgers.

PROS: Great rotating menu of vegan, vegetarian and seafood dishes.
CONS: Street parking only, a little pricey, some dishes are not too tasty.

Sit indoors or at one of the couple outdoor tables to enjoy any of their yummy menu selctions. Try something from the specials menu, the chefs cook up some creative and filing dishes that won't break the bank. My favorite lunch is the vegetarian sandwich served with chips and tabouleh. The cookies for $1 from the dessert menu are great to take with back to the office for a midday snack! An extensive drink menu with a beverage for every taste too.

PROS: Friendly service, great prices, relaxed atmosphere
CONS: no parking except on street

Great healthy food. Vegetarian, vegan and non-vegetarian food. Open for lunch and dinner daily. Try the tofu wonton pillows with ginger sauce! (my personal favorite)
