One of these drivers came thiiiiis close to crashing into my car today, he tried to change lanes into me going about 30 mph, AND he was towing a car at the time!! Do you really want someone driving around like that with your car behind

Fast and efficient tow company. They came very quickly, were friendly and helpful and even went out of their way to answer all my questions.

CRIMINALS.

I parked in the wrong spot in my new apartment complex and my friendly neighbor called Brent Air on me. I had planned on being up & out quickly but got a phone call & chatted for an hour with my best girl friend & ended up parked there for 1 1/2 hours.

I heard some beeping sounds + rushed down stairs. Saw the truck with my back two tires lifted + in the process of trying to tow. Saw my friendly new neighbor + tow truck driver.

I freaked out.

I was shell-shocked. Mind blown. Kept on repeating, "this can't be happening, you can't do this"

And guess what? HE CAN'T.

I looked it up and have called the police.

Why?

See http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs...

California Vehicle Code Section 22658 Removal From Private Property

"(g) (1) (A) Possession of a vehicle under this section shall be deemed to arise when a vehicle is removed from private property and is in transit.

(B) Upon the request of the owner of the vehicle or that owner's agent, the towing company or its driver shall immediately and unconditionally release a vehicle that is not yet removed from the private property and in transit."

Obviously I asked him many times to release my car. I even threatened to enter my car + see if he dared try to tow it while I was bodily in it and claimed possession. The tow truck was only attached to the car by these two clamps that were keeping the back two tire wheels above ground.

My car was still in the parking spot! In private property - the private parking spot that I had wrongfully parked in. In the parking lot of the apartment complex WHERE I LIVE, hence MY private property. Had not moved an inch from the parking spot.

But here's the real kicker. Subsection C:

"(C) A person failing to comply with subparagraph (B) is guilty of a misdemeanor."

GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR. Probably minor. But still a CRIMINAL OFFENSE.

He refused to release my car. He started putting the straps on to tow the car (ILLEGAL) while I was there to claim possession of it. I backed down and said OK, I'll pay. The resident who called the tow truck company on me was feeling apologetic and so offered to pay half of the quoted price.

What was that price? $200. TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS.

Well I gave him my debit card and he swiped it. When the resident gave the driver his card, the driver looked reluctant and asked him if he had cash. He said he only had 30. The driver said it was OK, pocketed the 30 and did not give him a receipt. Luckily, he gave me a receipt.

Now I'm thinking: Cash? How did he drop from 200 down to 130 so quickly?

And again the vehicle code comes to the rescue.

"(h) A towing company may impose a charge of not more than one-half of the regular towing charge for the towing of a vehicle at the request of the owner...pursuant to this section if the owner of the vehicle or the vehicle owner's agent returns to the vehicle after the vehicle is coupled to the tow truck... and before it is removed from the private property. The regular towing charge may only be imposed after the vehicle has been removed from the property and is in transit."

I've established that the vehicle was not in their possession once I had come down to claim it. That it had not been removed from the private property and was not in transit. So they could've only charged me not more than one-half of the regular towing charge simply for the fact that my car was coupled to the tow truck/lifted off the ground.

What is the regular towing charge? Why, I'm so glad you asked! It is ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES. IT IS NOT UP TO THEIR DISCRETION. THEY DON'T GET TO RANDOMLY COME UP WITH A NUMBER OF THEIR PLEASING, LIKE TWO HUNDRED.

According to the Official Police Garages of LA (http://www.opgla.com/p...):

The towing rate is $109.50 per hour for Standard Vehicles

I have a standard Nissan Maxima. This all happened within 10 minutes.

They couldn't have charged me $200. They couldn't have even charged me $109.50. They could've only charged me $54.75.

Instead, he overcharged me 45.25 and pocketed 30 bucks cash from the other resident.

Here we have a group of morons who got together to make a tow truck company. Absolutely by far, the worst, most unprofessional service I've had the displeasure of dealing with. Any positive reviews you see on here, yelp, or anywhere for that matter, are fabricated by Brent Air employees or out of chance that someone there was helpful for a single moment in time. Such garbage. AAA needs to cut them loose from their program. God forbid I have another emergency and AAA sends them to my aid. Every employee even Mark the owner, have no idea how to help customers or conduct business in a pleasant manner. Save yourselves people!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I have never, ever been in contact with a more unprofessional towing service. Ranging from being called "sweetheart" multiple times by Edgar, being threatened by the supervisor Stu "I'll know when he's mad," and the icing on the cake, being told by the owner "I need clinical help" after he hung up on me three times in a row....it's safe to say this towing company is not only unprofessional, but degrading, rude, threatening, sexist.

After multiple miscommunications, paying for two days of storage over the phone at 10am on a monday, my tow arrived to pick up my motorcycle but... they wouldn't release the bike unless a surprise additional charge was paid. Ok, I try to pay over the phone? Ed the degrading driver tells me in true form "sorry, sweetheart, you're just gonna have to come down and see me to pay." So why can't I pay over the phone like I did previously in the day? Why wasn't I informed of the charge on one of the many calls before my pick up was there on site?

After calling the pick up service driver, he agreeds to spot me for a whopping $165 out of his OWN POCKET. Making me leave work a half day early, loose out on my hourly pay, to meet the driver and pay him back from my pocket.

The simple truth is that had I know about this charge I could have arranged a check from the repair shop which would have been added onto my bill and ultimately paid by the insurance company--no cash out of pocket for anyone and no waiting for a reimbursement. Or, I even could have arranged leaving work to go make the payment, without loosing pay by making up for the hours earlier in the day.

so I call to speak to someone about the issue- Stu, the supervisor, who proceeds to yell at and threaten me -"Oh don't worry, I'd know when he was mad," I "don't deserve anything from anyone." I ask to speak to the owner, and was told I'd have to call back the following day.

Now comes the king of them all: Mark. The owner and king of the unprofessionalism at Brent Air Tow. I did my research about towing companies in California and what licenses you need, and where consumers can go to file complaints. I called, and very calmly tried to explain the issue- that it wasn't the charge, it was the fact I wasn't informed of it on one of the many times I had spoken to the company before my pick up was there on site, and the inconvenience of having to leave work, loose my half day's pay, pay cash out of pocket, and drive to inglewood to pay the pick up driver. Mark proceeded to speak over me the entire time, without listening to anything I was saying. I also tried to explain to him how I felt degraded by Ed and threatened and pushed around by Stu. He then said "thanks for calling" and hung up. I called back immediately and could only get out "this is unprofessional, and I want to resolve this issue. I have also contacted the better business be..." CLICK he hangs up again. Why do I feel like I'm in high school? So I call back one more time, and try to let him know I plan to contact and file complaints at AAA, the Better Business Bureau, The CA office of the attorney general, the CA gov of consumer affairs, and the police department....which I couldn't get out because Mark proceeded to scream "YOU NEED CLINICAL HELP YOU PSYCHO" and hang up a final time.

I didn't call back again, realizing there was no way I could convince Brent Air Tow to mature and act like they are a professional company over the phone. Obviously it was a lost cause. I am, however, filing all of the complaints above, and hope that further action will be taken against this horrible, horrible company. PS--they have one star because it won't publish with none. If there was negative stars...they'd have them.

***OH AND FYI THEY DON'T HAVE THE PROPER LICENSES TO OPERATE IN CALIFORNIA!!!****

I've used Mark a number of times and every time it's been an easy experience and I've never had to wait, which I love. It's already a bad day when you have to call for a tow (or a flatbed for my motorcycle). But Mark and Brent-Air have had my back every time. Never had the slightest problem and have recommended them to a whole lot of people who use them regularly now also.

I've been using Brent Air towing's services for years...at least over a decade. Mark and Brent Air Tow are and have always been fabulous and have always provided me with excellent service...from constantly towing one of my exotics that spent more time on a flat bed than it did on the road to my low profile car tires blowing out. I highly recommend Brent Air Towing services anytime and especially for your exotics...they really take care. I'm happy to be a personal reference anytime.

Rob was very down to earth, and understanding of my problem I was having when he came to tow my car, AFTER, i locked my keys in the car (very bad day)!. Making customers feel better about their situation isn't a part of the job, however, I appreciate his gesture, along with his great service.

"Every day is a new day," Thanks Rob

Brent Air Towing is one of the best in the business. I've used them on over ten different occasions and never had one complaint. I'll use them at least three more times this month. The only towing service I use.

Brent - Air Towing towed my car, when I got to their lot, there were people waiting outside their door. As I was getting closer, their garage door was closing, and I quickly got to ask where was the window or their main door. The man signaled, but didn't speak to me. I founded and I started ringing the bell, nothing... knocking, nothing.... I called several times and left messages, but no one was answering either. Our cars were inside, we were out
I finally called the police, as I was on hold, they opened the door. The man, the only man, Jimmy (his shirt read), was rude, obnoxious, and mocking everything I said. He finally slapped me with a $285 dollar charge, for the towing, the dolly, the use of their lot ( my car had been towed an hour ago), and the releasing of my car to me. When I complained, he said " talk to the owner, he is here on Monday" . I asked for the owners' name and he jotted down on my invoice : Robert de Niro...
This place ought to be shut down, they are thieves and they deal with people with complete disrespect , anything goes and God help you,
