I love the flavors and combinations you get to choose from. They have every kind of ice cream you can think of and the toppings are great. From chocolate chips to gummy worms and fresh fruit you cant go wrong at this location. A+!

On a weekend stay in Santa Cruz, we planned a visit to Marianne's. Locally, many of the ice cream spots in town sell Marianne's but we made the trip to THE store on Ocean Street. which offers the full menu of flavors. Open late on Fridays, there was a line at 9pm. The pleasant staff swiftly took care of customers so the wait was not long. What a variety of flavors for those who like to experiment and at reasonable prices per serving! I tasted a sample of lavender - delicious - but ordered rich-coffee'd Mud Pie. My friends chose cardamon and a coconut-pineapple offering which were tongue-pleasing. Marianne's is a worthwhile, quick stop on the Ocean Street route to Hwy 17 from the Boardwalk any day.

this place has so many flavors.. my favorite is the cappuccino almond fudge in a waffle cone..the price is good and the texture of the ice-cream is SO good. the workers are very fast and efficient..my best friend and i would drive 30 minutes once a week to this ice-cream place last summer. the only downfall is the parking..there is absolutely no parking and if you park across the street (where the cafe is) the manager gets pissy.

Marianne's is favorite of many locals and families who frequent the Santa Cruz area. They've got what must be a hundred different flavors (and all the ones I've had have always been delicious)! Parking can be problematic, especially on a weekend. Be ready for long lines, but worth the wait!

Best ice cream all around! This place makes their own ice cream in that facility. They ship out boxes of their ice cream to other places, but why not come to the original place? They have the best service I have ever seen! They are usually crowded and you get as many samples (and they give a good amount of sample too!) to taste and try. The ice cream here is among the best, and with great service and similar pricing to Baskin Robins, why not come to the original! Great hang out, and open late, best place to be for those midnight cravings!

PROS: lots of variety, good location, good service, open late
CONS:

Whenever we go to the beach in Santa Cruz, my family knows that a stop at Marianne's is mandatory! The ice cream is so good and the service is good too. Though they have the vanilla and chocolate my kids love, they also have imaginative flavors. My favorite is the 10-20 which has caramel and chocolate swirled into vanilla ice cream. This ice cream is also sold by the quart at Trags in San Mateo (near where I live), but it's not the same. I like the feel of an independent ice cream company and thinking that this was probably what my parents and grandparents did before you could 50 flavors of ice cream at the grocery store.

PROS: inventive flavors, independent (not Baskin Robbins or Coldstone)
CONS: far from me (San Mateo County)
