The food here is nasty diner food that you could buy in the frozen foods section of your grocery store, and WAY overpriced. Went there for drinks and appetizers. DO NOT order the calamari. It's obviously processed calamari meat molded into

I only went at Zelda's to have some drinks. Nice service, nice people, great margaritas, reasonable prices...

Great Fish and good Bloody Marys, but expect to pay for the view. The portions seem small for the price, but the Fish is coated with a nice light breading and is fresh. Try the clam chowder!

Capitola is a great beach town. The surfing is great and who doesn't love Surfing Santa the day after Thanksgiving. Zelda's on the Beach has a great location. There are a few other restaurants that also are mentioned in other reviews.

That is a rare commodity - a restaurant with outside seating on the beach that allows dogs. There are 3 or 4 tables along the fence that let you keep your pet next to you. This is great if you want to walk your dog and eat in the same

The fish was fresh, a pretty good local jazz group playing and it is right on the beach. The sides are not much, our fish was spot on fresh and good.

My wife and I had lunch at Zelda's on the Beach at noon on Friday March the 5th. We had a cute young server who is going to college fron Seattle area. We shared a order of popcorn shrimp and it was too much for the both of us to eat. The service was friendly and attentive, we would recomend it. Mardy

Pros: We Got great service and food!

I had a fried calamari plate with a guava and champagne drink on the 4th of July this year. The food was okay, the drink was sugary, but the view cannot be beat. One of the only places we could get into without a wait on a holiday.

The only thing Zelda's has going for it is its excellent location, right on Capitola beach. Any other location, this place would have gone out of business a long time ago.

Food: mediocre. Not terrible, but nowhere near worth the prices they charges. My teriyaki chicken was bland but acceptable; the rice pilaf tasted like Uncle Ben's - not worth $17.95. My date's chicken was undercooked, and the ketchup smelled rank like vinegar. When we asked for a fresh bottle, it also smelled and tasted funny, so they must be improperly stored.

Service: beyond terrible. The hostess where nowhere to be seen for at least five minutes on a Saturday night. We were seated promptly after that, but in front of an outside doorway that was in frequent use, so my date had a constant cold chill. Our waitress was also MIA for 15-20 minutes at a time. It was half an hour before we even got bread - which was four small slices of bland white bread I wouldn't even buy at the store. Our waitress was nice enough, but impossible to flag down, as were the rest of the wait staff. I had to get up and march over to the wait station to request a non-rancid ketchup bottle.

Management: outright rude. When we requested to speak to the manager, she hurried over. We explained about the terrible service and the poor quality of the food. Her response was that they had a smaller "winter staff" and that we shouldn't have eaten the food if we thought it wasn't cooked right. Her attitude was almost belligerant, considering it is HER responsibility to make sure there is enough staff on the floor and our complaint was that the food was poor quality, not unsafely prepared. There was nothing apologetic in her manner. She did offer to remove the higher priced item from our bill.

Nor were we the only table afflicted. Several nearby tables waiting listlessly for over an hour for food. The family next to us received the children's meals, but the adult's meals never arrived.

We ate at Zelda's a couple of months ago. The food was pretty good. We ate burgers and fries. We sat on the patio outside. It was pretty crowded. I thought the food was a bit pricey for what we ordered, but otherwise, it was good.

So, haven't been there yet. Really wanted to try it out. Food supposed to be good along with location. However, service is a deal breaker. I called to see if they could take care of a large party.
Rude little twit was not helpful or forthcoming with answering basic questions. It was like extracting teeth!
YOU LOSE ZELDA!

It gets busy, especially during the summer. But you can't beat sitting on the beach, eating calamari crab sandwiches and watching the ocean. The service is good and prices are all right. If you are just visiting the area, this is a great icon to check out.

On Monday myself & my husband went to Zeldas for lunch. We were seated next to the bins which stunk, we couldn't move because there wasn't any more seats available under the umbrellas (it was a hot day). We ordered fish & chips which came in a small basket, the chips were ok but the fish was horrible. With our order we got a 7up & a Corona, this all came to $36 .. so that's 2 "small" baskets of fish & chips, a Corona & a 7 up for $36. Not only were we NOT impressed with the food but the waitresses were rude. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
