i am i student here at paul mitchell. i was so excited to go here before it started. i thought it would be great! now that i am almost finished my experiance here is as follows:if you are going here to get your hair cut is really is luck and a 50 50 chance of your hair looking good. i go to night school which is 20 hours a week. before students go out on the floor they are in the class room for 6 weeks! thats not long considering no one has ever touched hair before this. here is an interesting fact. each student practices about 6 different styles of a cut one time only before trying it out on customers! so on time praciced trims. one time practiced layers ect. now color... before a student trys it on a client they only use shaving cream! never real color so you really are practice.
as for being a strudent there. you learn nothing you need to know afor state boards. they infridge on student labor laws. when u see students out on the floor doing hair they are told to be there and do it or go home. the school makes a profit off hair services and students pay 18000.00 to go there. they also tell you to clean or go home(if you go home you dont get hours clocked in and you need 1600 hrs to get a licene)
they are shorted staffed.
the staff is young and most teachers are 21 or 22 and just finised school themselves. it would be like going to high school and graduating them going back to teach other students a few weeks later!
teachers belittle students, play favorites, and talk behind students back with other students
there is a day maker who is supposed to help students. i saw him once. in core(first 6 weeks)
you park on the street as there is no student parking, and there is no security guard ethior. hmmm a school campus and no security guard!
you do not learn anything else at this scool than you would at any other school. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go to school somewhere that is more established and organized!
PROS: you can say you went to paul mitchell the school. good speakers
CONS: unskilled poorly trained unorganized staff and addministration
