Preschool is excellent here -- young students will learn very much. However, many teachers there are underaverage, although as you get higher in the grades they do get much better. Some of the teachers in the lower grades do not even know how to correctly teach simple subjects such as math, and when they do not know how to teach the ciriculum, they simply make material up. My children have come home telling me that their teacher has taught them something about American history or addition which sounds totally outlandish, and after Googling it, most certainly is. Two children once used a computer in the school lab to try to report a teacher who cursed and frequently lost his temper during classes. However, the school was able to track who submitted the comment, and THEY were the ones who were severly punished. Horrible. What were they possibly at fault for? Creativity is very suppressed here -- "corporate" has ordered teachers to remove all colorful or "distracting" posters and decorations. Lunch teachers patrol the corridors and sometimes do not even let children converse with eachother during lunch! (even for the middle school students) At one point, they even gave students assigned seats to eat at during lunch! The middle school students here have not had an ounce of freedom and will have a very difficult time adjusting socially in high school. The school even gives children of all grades surveys, asking questions such as: "Which is better - A) Should we have a strong military to display our power to other countries and defend oursevles or B) Should we have no mlitary so that we are prone to attack but can become friends with other countries *Or* Which is better - A) Should money be evenly distrubuted among people, which could result in some people not working or B) Should people work hard for their own money and compete with eachother so that the economy will prosper " In these scenarios, the answer is obviously A and then B. These surveys are subtley forcing Republican values on the children, and a few of them have realized that. It is not the school's job to influence a child's political opinion. After all, they are only children! This school cannot just force their ideas onto children like that. Although, I admit, this school teaches children very much in comparison to other schools, they are doing it in a very wrong way.

Also, the two five star comments written below mine were created by teachers who work for Challenger. I recognize the alias and then the name.

Challenger is the awesomest school in the world!!!!!!
especially the sunnyvale campus
the english teachers there are very good
one good thing about challenger is that the classes are small, so teachers and students form very tight bonds over the years.
the academic curriculum is also very advanced.
Challenger rocks!!!!!

Challenger School is pricey, but not when you understand that the fees charged are the ONLY fees you pay. There is no sales of candy and wrapping paper or other money grabs to hide a higher tuition.
Challenger School makes an effort to provide a service to its customers. Those customers might not be you. That's fine. Target or JC Pennys...hum...why do we choose? Every type of education is not for all people. Challenger is what it is and does not pretend to be something else. I and 45 years worth of students think it is pretty cool to go to Challenger School!

AVOID this school if you can. Everyone you deal with has an attitude, including the minions at the front desk. Teacher turnover is alarming and $$$$$$

This is not a school, but a drain hole for our hard earned money. Some Teachers are hi-tech industry drop outs with no training whatsoever, no social skills.

Overall the structure and the standard is very good. But they don't work withe average students and try to bring the best in them. They only promote the brainy students for everything. This includes quiz, bees, Christmas /spring programs. They only encourage their best kids for all these activities. The teachers do this so that they can present a good picture. So again and again the same kids win. The average kids are not encouraged to do their best.

Challenger teachers should be trained not to be partial with children. This makes the other children feel inferior.

Our children attended the Sunnyvale campus of Challenger. We had a universally great experience. We loved the principal, Mr. Grapes and found the teachers challenging, helpful and genuinely interested in our children and their learning and success. They finished at least 2 years ahead of their public school counterparts and with a love of learning and reading that their friends just don't have. We would highly recommend Challenger School.

Steer clear of adminstative staff, rude and unhelpful including the principal. Very dissatified with the very people who are suppose to teach your kids with example of good behavior.
