The day of the wedding we didn't have ANY COMPLAINTS! Then we got to the reception! We already knew that Barbara was going to be at another reception in Corona and would be jumping between the two (ours was at their venue in Santa Ana). Chris, her son, also our dj, basically ran the whole thing. Poor guy had to run the music, serve us, and stay on the timeline that we had for the wedding. He also had to fit in time to work the DvD player to play two of our montages. Seriously, Chris was awesome because if it was not for him I would have been running the event. Soooo... we didn't get our head server like we paid for ($150.00), we didn't get the three servers that we paid for ( about $300.00 --- we got kitchen staff dressed in white --- supposed to be dressed in black) and we didn't get ANY bartender. If it was not for our SUPERB FLORIST (BELLA FLEUR DESIGN) we wouldn't have had a bartender at all! So... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to our DJ (Chris) and our FLORIST (Donna - Bella Fleur Design) our guests had NO idea that we didn't get a little more than $700.00 of our $$$ worth. Then to make matters worse, around cake cutting time, Barbara comes to me and informs me that she will be sending me my updated receipt/bill. SHE IS TELLING ME THAT WE ARE NOT PAID IN FULL. A WHOLE $1,700.00 not paid in full! WHAT!!!?!! So, I went and found my husband at this point to have him look into this! Barbara ended up telling my Mom that she never told her that we were paid in full and that she doesn't do the books. We ended up paying the money and having to cut our honeymoon a little on the cheaper side. We sent them a letter asking to be reimbursed the $700.00 that I feel we didn't receive in the service. Thus far, we have not heard anything from the site and I plan on resending them the letter once more. If we hear anything or get our money back I will come back to this site and update my review.

Basically, they have good prices, good food, and a nice venue. Downside is that they need to take Barbara out of doing things on her own. Her short term memory has really gone downhill in the 2 and a half years we have been with CGC. If you decide to go with CGC ask for Diane. Oh, and they DO have an accountant! Stay on top of your cost and how much you have paid! I just really thought it was unprofessional to come up to the bride at the END of her reception and inform her that they owe another $1,700.00.

Later on that night after the wedding was over, a friend of ours also informed us that they had a wedding at CGC the weekend before. She informed me that the bride was organizing everything and running around with her head cut off. Maybe over dramatic but, at this point ... I don't think so when we are $700.00 in the hole.

Pros: Good Food!

Cons: Owner needs to have someone else take it over!

We just had our event there this past January 10th. Overall it was a nice wedding reception but there were a lot of things that happened that were very unprofessional. I worked with Barbara in the beginning and when I began working with Maggie on things we were told about all these charges that weren't originally supposed to happen. Then Barbara tried to charge us for stuff that it said was included in our contract because they decided not to purchases the things as a company because of the "bad economy".

The parking situation is a hassle as well. The facility has a very small parking lot so they tell you to use the one in the church behind it. So the day of the wedding people began parking there. One of our groomsmen was there and the lady from that church said that she was going to have all the cars towed because country garden never told her about an event that night. And a lot of things seemed to go this way. The place is very disorganized and you have to be the one to follow up with things if you want everything done. Granted, Maggie was very helpful to me.

Also, you have to use the house dj for the place and he is not that great. It cost us $600 bucks and i practically had to write out every song i wanted played. I was always having to follow up with him for everything. I sent him an email weeks before the wedding and he never got back to me and i had to follow up again. He then didn't open a document i emailed him until the night before the wedding and he called me while we were at the rehearsal dinner. THen at the recpetion he told me that he lost the playlist for the songs he was supposed to do and he had to find them all again. THe songs that were supposed to be played for the bouquet toss and for the garter toss also were played switched around. He also repeated the same songs over and over for dancing. If you used the place, i would not recommend the dj.

Overall, the food was good and the servers were ok, but there was supposed to be someone serving drinks at the bar and he was usually no where to be found. Also, they did not have enough chairs set up for our number of guest and not all of our guests showed up.

The price is good for this place compared to others around but i would get everything in writing, and stay on top of everything that happens.

I am doing my wedding reception there! Service is more than perfect, response time is superb (email or phone call, they are willing to work with you, price quotes are phenomenal, food is crave worthy, and if I EVER need a caterer again (which I think I will) I will be back!

Pros: If you love food... you can't go wrong with them!

Cons: The only bad thing is that the bathrooms are small but, it's a historical venue. I can't think of anything else though!
