Loose Caboose is the best choice in Salinas for a good deli sandwich. Awesome atmosphere with interesting train memorabilia. A great place to eat lunch.

Are you looking for a good sandwich?? This is the place to be. Lots of choices and all with titles having to do with trains. The Conductors Wistle is one of my favorites. Check it out in the PArk Row shopping center in Salinas. Yummy

Had the opportunity to visit the Loose Caboose just one time for lunch during the summer. The place was packed and we were lucky to get a table. Seemed to have a crowd of regulars there who knew the menu and didn't mind the crowd. The food was great, but the service was a little slow. Would definitely try this place again. Prices were reasonable.

My favorite sandwich shop in Salinas and a frequent haunt during my high school lunch breaks.

The hot pastrami on rye is as good as it gets in a city that has only two Quizno's, four or five Subways, and an Erik's Deli Cafe for sandwhich shops. Subway doesn't even serve hot pastrami and I'm pretty sure Quizno's doesn't either (I could be wrong), and Erik's offering of pastrami is passable, but pretty standard, so Loose Caboose is the place to go to satisfy that craving you have for the salty, rich pastrami bedded between nice sharp and pungent slices of rye.

The soups and the desserts are a mixed bag, depending on what they're serving for the day, but you can always count on it being fresh!

The Loose Caboose sandwich shop is tucked away in Park Row behind the hustle and bustle of Main St. I used to eat here twice a week during high school and always make it a point to stop by when I'm in the area. It's a quaint eatery packed with less than 10 two seater tables and walls covered with train memorabilia. Their menu consists of sandwiches, soups, and salads. I've always preferred the egg salad sandwich, while my friends and majority of the customers opt for the Iron Horse - a huge roast beef sandwich. The lunchtime lines are always out the door and tables are scarce, but service is prompt and courteous and prices are reasonable, so it's definitely worth a try!

PROS: homemade sandwiches
CONS: be prepared to eat on the road!
