Excellent facility. The prices are some of the best in town. Thank goodness that the YMCA has come into my town. As the Village People once sang, it all happens here.

I went to the Chinatown YMCA for about a year, and first off, let's talk about the bad things: it's old. Really old. The machines suck. It's tiny. The atmosphere is depressing. It can wear on you, but it has enough good aspects to keep it a good average gym. For example: you don't have to get dressed up like you would at Crunch or 24 fitness. There is absolutely NO social scene here. And if you're under 50, in relatively good health, with no major amputations, you WILL be the strongest person here and you'll feel like a bodybuilder every day. It's basically you versus the guy with a rolling oxygen cart. You're here half-heartedly working out trying to get girls, he's here to stay alive. Makes you feel pretty good about yourself, that's all I'm going to say.

Business Response:

Sorry to hear about your poor experience in the past. We have now reopened and hope you will come visit our brand new facility with a new fitness center, two group exercise studios, and a new swimming pool! Happy holidays!
.

The YMCA gym is the best deal in the city! On top of that, they also offer discounts for different age groups in addition to financial assistance. The Chinatown gym is hardly ever used and often you will be the only one there. It is also very unintimidating. They also have a pool and fitness classes.

PROS: Financial assistance, no waiting for machines
CONS: Close earlier than most gyms
