Ok, let's get this out of the way. I'm a slacker by nature and never met a gym I could stick with. Optimal is amazing. Owner, Brien Shamp, has created a fitness center that meets the needs of a variety of people. There are many individualized and group programs. I don't have a lot of time to spend at a gym and he has introduced "30 Minutes to Success" and Yoga with Ranya, recently. I need structure and "30 minutes" suits me and you still get personalized attention to learn the right techniques. The yoga classes are very intimate and I'm learning so much more than I ever did in larger classes. The staff and trainers are exceptionally helpful and friendly. There is so much going on at Optimal, I can't imagine why anyone would choose another facility. I am so happy that I took a chance to join Optimal last year.
Brien and his team at Optimal Fitness are incredible! They are unlike any other gym or work-out facility. Brien really looks at the over all well-being of each individual, analyzes your diet and lifestyle, and comes up with a customized plan to reach your goals. And the entire staff is so friendly and welcoming. It's a place where everybody knows your name! The atmosphere and vibe makes working out FUN!
As a health professional I am looking for a gym that will deliver the same care and attention as I do for my patients. And the gym to go to on the peninsula is Optimal Fitness. Well, calling Optimal Fitness a "gym" is an understatement to Brien and his highly skilled team. It's more than a place you can "work out"... it's the personalized approach in customizing to achieve your physical goals. I highly recommend it!
I was very impressed with the one-on-one training and personalization offered at Optimal Fitness. I highly recommend the boxing classes offered there. The first hour is concentrated on plyometrics and the last half hour is punching a bag.
PROS: Great personal trainers, awesome workouts
CONS:
I recently went looking for a gym in the area. As I looked for a listing of gyms on Insider Pages, I came across this gym, so I drop by. This is definitely the top of the line experience; it has everything from blood chemistry analysis to touring a Trader Joes? to find the best foods to meet your personal goals.
As I walked in, I was met at the door by the owner Brien, which I thought was more of an accident but, a great personal touch nonetheless. You would think he would not have the time to give me a tour, being the owner, but this was not the case. He not only gave me a tour of the gym, but he gave me a 7day free pass with one hour with a personal trainer (as I understand it a $220.00 value).
The gym?s set-up was great and the front desk person was very nice (which is important to me, seeing that I am very put-off by the high school front desk person, who looks right through you as you come in). I definitely recommend this gym.
