I LOVE Tokyo Sushi- prices are reasonable- quality is great- I've tried many other places in the San Diego area, and Tokyo is one of my favorites, since there isn't mayo mixed in every roll!

So after reading all the "great" reviews for Tokyo Sushi, I decided that since my fav sushi place in the SDSU area, Oshi, was closed, I would go try it.
I have never been more disappointed with a food place-ever. The prices were horrible as well as the quality of the food. I got a dinner combo for 14.00 with the chicken teriyaki and 8 pieces of cali roll, and it was a total 30 bucks for two plates for me and my boyfriend.
At Oshi's, located on Montezuma and College, they have a similar deal-teriyaki chicken, rice and 10 pieces of Cali Roll and more for about 8 bucks per plate, and the quality is better, in my opinion.
Honestly, I can see why Tokyo Sushi is so expensive, as my boyfriend and I were sitting there, they brought in two new 20 in. t.v.s. I thought the point of going out to eat with friends, family, significant others, etc. was to enjoy each others company, not to watch a game.
Oh well lesson learned, never again will I eat at Tokyo Sushi and pay such a high price for crappy food. =[

I've been to this particular sushi joint more than 5 times in the past 3 months. The sushi is amazing - it is yummy, and the portions are pretty huge. Maybe the price is slightly on the high side.. but overall it is really good.
The people making the sushi at the sushi bar are really nice! so sit at the bar and you might be next to enjoy a complimentary salmon tempura =)

I really like how they have a variety of sushi rolls. The best one has got to be the Pink or Hot Kiss Roll. The service is okay... sometimes the servers are a little slow and that gets annoying. But for the most part, when the music isn't too loud, it's a great place to go.

I went here for dinner, sushi was good, the Tokyo special roll is my favorite of what i have had there. Beer was reasonably priced, overall good food. Service was pretty good, not the best, but definitely not the worst i have had at sushi places. They present the food really well, which is a good way to get non sushi eaters to try the more unique rolls.
My only complaint would possibly be the lack of wasabi, but you can always ask for more. I believe all the rolls we ordered came with some kind of sauce on them, so no real need for soy sauce, but I still would have liked a bit more heat.

Tokyo Sushi is pretty good. Decent prices but the atmosphere is nice; great distance away for SDSU students. Servers are very friendly and the rolls are awesome.

This place has pretty good Sushi. The food is pretty good too. The atmosphere can be kind of loud because they like to blast the music but if you want to go have a good time, Tokyo Sushi is the place to go. I always order the bento because i feel its the best for my money, but the place isn't badly priced.

After reading a couple of reviews, my wife and I decided to check this place out. Let me tell you, if you're looking for a quiet, relaxed evening, don't go here. This was definitely a college type place. They played hip hop and techno for the most part, and very loud at that. For a Friday night, it wasn't that busy, of course we went at 9:30, so we missed most of the crowd. Still, there was about a 5 minute wait. The food itself was ok. They had a large selection, with a good number of original rolls. The wife and I tried 5 rolls in total. The spider roll was good- it was served on a bed of tempura flakes which was interesting. The other rolls we had would have been better if they hadn't dowsed them with so much eel sauce. The food was pretty well priced too. The only hiccup of the evening is when bottle caps landed in front of us (there was a server opening beer and letting the caps go as they pleased). Overall I would say this was a decent experience. If you decide to go, prepare yourself for loud music and a younger crowd.

Hands down this place has great sushi. Even their california rolls are the best I have ever tasted. Whenever I go here I typically spend around $12/person which is reasonably priced in my mind.
I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone!

The sushi here is awesome! I think I like every single sushi item I have tried. I'm a complete sushi lover and have tried many sushi restaurant. This one is probably my favorite and worth the effort to get here. And on top of it all, the prices are great!
What is even cool about this place too is that every night I think about 6pm they lower the lights and turn up the music. Its almost like you just walked in to a club. This place is definitely popular, so go there for lunch or get there early for dinner.
