This is a wonderful little restaurant, offering delicious dishes. It is literally a hole in the wall -- I probably drove by here hundreds of times before my buddy pointed it out to me a year ago.
I highly recommend the lamb kabob -- that's my favorite. All of their vegetables dishes taste great, especially the eggplant. Another good dish is the chicken kabob. Don't leave without trying the dessert pudding.
Delicious food, attentive service.

I thought it would be an interesting experience to try Afghani food, but it was just kind of average...This is my first time trying Afghani food and I'm not sure what is "good" for Afghani but the food here wasn't horrible, it was simply edible. We had kabobs and it tasted like something you would get at a family BBQ. Some beef, chicken, and bell peppers. The scenery was an attempt at elegance but didn't quite make the mark. Parking however wasn't easy to find, we ended up parking on the street a block or so away.

On a positive note, service was excellent and the waitress was nice enough to look over the fact that we accidentally broke a wine glass. If you want to be in a quiet place, there is a private room by the door facing the window that is quite cozy.

Pros: Service, and cozy room

Cons: Food was average at best.

The food was very good. My girlfriend found a hair in her pudding, which other wise was very good. I had already sent back a tea cup with the rim covered in chap stick. The waitress took the pudding away. The owner then brought it back to the table, insisted that it was my girlfriends hair and could not have been from their staff. He also refused to take it off the check and then just left it on the table after my girlfriend politely said she didnt want it. All in all I am disappointed in how they do business. We would have gone back again. But they lost our buisness over a five dollar pudding.

I've eaten here a few times and each time I try something new, and have never been disappointed. The hot tea is great too. It has an elegant but family-owned feeling that gives it great charm. There's a lot of love and care put into every aspect of the food and service.

Our first time trying Afghanastani food, and maybe it was because I was craving Kabab, but this was really good juicy chicken kabab. The rice with it was sooo good too. I came home trying to find recipes online for the rice but couldn't find anything as good. So go check it, it's worth it. It's really quaint inside, and our server was soo sweet and friendly, it was like visiting a family restaruant.

I first tried Afghan cuisine up in Santa Cruz, and ever since, have been searching high and low for a place here in LA- and this is it! Azeen's was a fantastic experience; my parents and I had a very nice, elegant dinner. Our waitress actually grew up in Afganistan, and answered our questions about what it was like living there, the cuisine, etc. The food was amazing- it's a wonderful mix of persian and indian influences, but has it's own edge that makes it so deliciously unique. I really hope this place continues to thrive and do well- it's definately worth checking out! The decor is very nice, with images of the country and painted murals, but it's a very classy place to go with a date/ good friends.

We decided to try this restaurant based off Citysearch Reviews, and it was our first time trying Afghani food. We were worried at first (not sure what to order, and what it'd taste like), but after the warm, hospitable welcome by the staff and the first bite, all our worries melted away!

From the dishes we tried, Afghani food is pure delectable delights! There's some influences of Persian and Indian, but it stands on its own as well. We started off w/ the Sambosas appetizers (essentially similar to Indian Samosas), with a Ground Lamb marinated filling. It was very tasty. Then came our 2 entrees: A Lamb Eggplant Stew (Badenjan Challaw) and the Lamb Shish-kabobs (Kabob-e-Gousfand). Let me just say: It was AWESOME! :) The Badenjan Challaw (Lamb Stew) was filled with so much love and care, the Lamb meat literally melting in your mouth, soft, and extremely tender! I was truly blown away. The Lamb Kabobs were very well done as well, but naturally firmer than the Lamb Stew. But the quality of the meat, the spices and flavors, as well as the wonderful fragrant Rice+Herbs sealed the deal!

For 2 of us, the Appetizer and 2 Entrees were more than enough (and I'm a big eater)! The interior decoration was charming and warm, and I'm more than excited to come back again very soon. A+!

Working in Pasadena I thought I had been to all the local restaurants. Boy, was I mistaken. In an area that is quickly becoming devoid of character, Azeen's is a shining star. I know what you're thinking, "what the hell is Afghani food?" Let me tell you, it's good. Their lamb, chicken, and beef are without question the best around. The place is clean, the service is great, and I've never left hungry. Working in the area, I generally eat there about 2-3 times a week for lunch and never get bored of the flavor.

If your sick of the Cheesecake Factory, want something more substanital than Louise's, and like good food with great flavor, give Azeen's a try. It's a little off the beaten path, one block north of Colorado on Union, but well worth it. Go there once and I guarantee you will return.

Lunches range from about $9 - $13. A little more than I liike to spend for lunch but the quality makes up for any premium spent.

PROS: The food, the owner, I love it all...
CONS: Having to wait until 11:30 to eat lunch

This is the best meal I've had in a long time. We were welcomed by a charming hostess who oozed afghani culture, asked us if we had ever eaten afghani before, and gave us a brief but informative introduction to the food. I wasn't very hungry at the time so I got an appetizer platter, and I couldn't help but finish it all. The leek scallion dumplings were unique, delectable, full of flavor, and unlike anything I've ever had at restaurant before. I had some of my brother's lamb and rice dish too (can't remember the name of it unfortunately), which also was delicious. both came with a salad topped with a tasty yoghurt dressing. the meal just kept getting better and better. best of all was the rosewater pudding, which I highly recommend. our server was very nice, helpful, and efficient. it was more than a great meal: it was an experience that left a smile on my face the rest of the evening.

This restaurant is a phenomenal place to eat, by far the best that I have been to in the Los Angeles area, and I eat out ALOT! The meat on the kebabs is so flavored and tender that I found myself taking miniscule bites as to make it last forever. I highly recommend the leek and scallion dumplings (aushak). The flavor is different, but favorable. Also, the restaurant staff is so friendly, accomodating, and humble. I am doing a little experiment where I eat at a different restaurant every time I go out, but my thoughts keep wandering back to Azeen's. I really cant say enough good things about it.

Succulent isn't a word I toss around but it is the only way to describe the chicken kabob. I'd never had Afghani food before and this was a very welcome introduction. Start with some sambosa and enjoy the chicken, rice and the bread. There was nothing on the plate that was left untouched. It's off the beaten path and closes between lunch and dinner but it is a culinary treat for your tastebuds.

PROS: Juicy, succulent chicken and great bred.
CONS: Off the beaten path a bit.

I was so excited when my friend suggested we try eating here. It was so good and the service was friendly and personal. It made me want to go to Afghanistan myself. I love the cardamom tea and the kabobs with all the spices. Go here and support the family that runs the place!

The reviews on this place are accurate-- The lamb is great, not gamey at all. Their bread is also very soft and mildly sweet, a good compliment to the dishes! Service is good, too.

Good food, great staff. It's cool that this place is there. The eggplant is absolutely delightful- full of flavor, almost curry like.

Nice place to go for lunch.

Fantastic! One of the best restaurants I've been to in Old Towne in a long time. The meals were universally tasty-- the Chef's Special and the Lamb Kabob had rave reviews (the rice with the kabob needed a little extra yogurt sauce). We also ordered a side of Kadu squash), which was delicious. For dessert, the pudding provides a
yummy treat, though the rose flavor takes a little getting used to; the baklava was the best I've found in the area; while the fried pastry was something it was felt could be passed up. The service was flawless-- quick, friendly, and accurate. The Afghan tea was also served from separate pots and had a pleasant aroma. The Pasadena.com discount we got was a free dessert (pudding), but this didn't hamper our enthusiasmfor the place.
