I have been a faithful Save Mart shopper for 30 years and tonight I was very disappointed. We did our shopping at around 8pm to beat the Thanksgiving rush and the store was almost empty. I had the rudest encounter with a checker I have ever had..she simply did not listen to me when I asked about a new "share card"..she explained that the store did not issue share cards and I said that I was confused about the card and meant the other card that gives you a discount on gasoline. I told her I needed a new card and she just blew me off and said nothing else. I paid for my purchases and waited for her to say something about the card and she was already on to the next customer before I could say anything else. She then told me that it was too late to do anything about putting my larger purchase amount on a reward card. . She was like a robot..no wonder she works the night shift..I certainly couldn't
keep a job if I treated people like that. She had a major attitude. I went back in and started to wait in line to try to add my large grocery shopping amount on a reward card and she said to me..we can talk now ,( I was not wanting to make a scene)so I stated my case in an appropriate manner and she
started arguing with me and was even more rude. She said that it was too late now that I had paid for my purchase. She called the asst manager over and tried to talk to him on the sly..probably stating I was a nut case..and he looked at me and called me aside to ask what had gone on. I simply told him what had happened and he apologised for her and took care of my reward card immediately. She had basically lied to me and was too lazy to take the few seconds it would have taken to satisfy me.
So in saying that..they were quick to make this customer happy but I will think twice about ever going in HER line again..there are too many people out of jobs in this county to keep an employee like her..

The clerks are helpful to my husband who does not know where anything is in the store. I cannot shop at this time due to a foot injury. Everyone in the store stop to help him find things on my list. They clerks, bag boys and girls are all friendly and helpful. The produce is fresh and consistently tasty. Thanks for a great job in our community.

I shop there on a regular basis, and I have found that their produce is the best in town. Best selection, best quality, reasonable prices, and helpful staff. The store is also larger, cleaner, and has a much more appealing presentation than any of the other grocery stores in the area. Just be aware that Tuesdays are Senior Discount days, so if you have to go then, you may need to be a little more patient, as we have a lot of elderly folks in our area who do the bulk of their shopping on Tuesday.
As for the bakery portion of the store, I can attest to the fact that their cakes are awesome. We served one last year for my daughter's birthday, and people are STILL asking what kind I got and where I got it! If you want a decorated cake for a party or event, it is best to order it a few days in advance. They can be a little pricey, ($20.00 and up) but it is cheaper than most bakeries, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Their selection of fresh breads is very good, but can vary by the day. I especially like the croissants and dinner rolls.
The staff are usually extremely helpful and friendly, but just keep in mind that even though they try to run the store like a well-oiled machine, they are only human, after all, and may have the occasional off day.

Leslie...one of you check out clerks was very RUDE 05/22/07!
First of all she DOES NOT greet you!
As she was picking up my items she hit the button that controls when the groceries move along on the belt...smashing the lady's bread behide me...she said nothing to her...did not even look at her! I told leslie that she was smashing her bread...leslie said, "I"M AWARE OF THAT! leslie continued to smash her bread as the red basket that I had used to put my groceries in was still laying on top of that lady's bread...leslie said we'll get her another one...NEVER once addressing the lady.
Only as I was walking off did leslie finally address her and offer the lady another bread, however the lady said it was ok.

having just moved here from the bay area, this is the most complete grocery store i've found. it has things like rice dream and organic items - stuff still hard to find in sonora. the staff is always so friendly and the manager even gave me a refund on on OPEN container of cake frosting, with a "wink". they have my business each week!
