I have been to shuei-do many times and it was one of my favorite places to go growing up. With fresh manju made daily, you won't be disappointed with the product they offer. When it is summer time they also offer really good shaved ice. With flavors ranging from the usual strawberry to the adventurous bubble gum, root beer and milk, they will satisfy almost anyone's taste. One thing that I like about their shaved ice is that with another fifty cents or so, they will put in a scoop of ice cream or add sweet red beans (an ko) into it which gives it a really good kick. great manju and yummy shaved ice, you can't pass up this place.

This place is great! I love their manju, because it is so soft, and not prepackaged like other places. This is one of the few places that still make their manju daily. They make great gifts too!
5I was delighted to find this place in the states.\r\nMost Mochy offering in the US are the factory packaged, either the not bad made in Japan products, the so-so made in China ones or the medicore ones that are made in L.A.\r\n\r\nShuei Do's Mochies are very good, much better than the factory ones, and at the same level of the private shops I visited in Japan (not the high-end ones though).\r\n\r\nAt terrific value for money, and quite addictive, I highly recommend this place.

Pros: excellent mochy
Cons: wish they had better selection
these are beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. I like the smooth sticky rice outside and the lotus bean inside. green pink or white. fresh can't get it better. except in SF J-town or in Sacramento where they have an even better shop, but don't know it's name.
5If you like Japanese sweets, the Shuei Do Manju Shop is definately a place to visit!
They have many varieties of manju and they will even let you try a free sample of one item if you want to try before you buy.
The only major downside is the hours it's open--they don't open until late in the morning and close early in the evening.
PROS: Delicious treats, friendly staff, free samples!
CONS: Really limited open hours.
