From Shelly T.

by Happy R. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,889

We have had our daughter at Marina View Preschool since she was 18 months old. We love all of the teachers that she has had, and have found them all to be very professional, caring, and proficient. The academic program at MVP is above and beyond anything I might have expected. My daughter has learned so much over the past two years, that we decided to enroll her in their all day Kindergarten Program last September 2008. She has continued to progress and was reading mid-way through the school year. The school itself is kept very clean and organized, and the management are always very helpful. We will certainly miss MVP next year when our daughter moves on to the First grade. Shelly T.

Not Impressed!

by Michelle R.

I went for a tour - the D. that toured me was not very informative, seemed slow. The students seemed crammed and the gym was nothing impressive even though it's for tiny tots! How can they serve fruit cocktail as a snack when that's full of sugar and have no nutrients even though their brochure encourages parents to feed their kids healthy lunches?! What hypocrites. They claim to have degreed teachers but I didn't buy into it! They looked more like assistants who all wore the same thing: aprons! Was this a preschool twilight zone nightmare tour? I would never send my child to this place. Also, the location is not situated for a preschool, come on a shopping plaza?

Horrible Pre school

by kristin b.

My 2 year old went here for 2 days. On the second day, I dropped him off and he was very upset and distraught. Although leaving didn't feel right, I was encouraged to do so. I drove home and called to see if my child had calmed down. They said he was find and playing. i had a feeling this was not true, so I drove behind the school and peeked in the fence to where my son was. I was horrified to see him standing all by himself, crying uncontrollably - not a wining cry, but a terrified cry. A teacher walked up to him, told him to stop crying and walked off. Needless to say, we never went back. I wish I would have read all these reviews since all I have heard is bad things ever since.

Do what is best for your child!

by linda n.

Inexpensive, convenient, facility has a nice appearance, and the staff is ok with the children. Although the staff could show more sincere affection, and be more truly qualified! The owners have the facility for purely profit. And careless about the children!

Toured school/looks professional but not impressed

by Anonymous

I toured this school with my child. I was given half an ear during the tour and was left alone several times! My son was a bit energetic and the D looked nervous. I got an uneasy feeling. The rooms were packed with kids and I expressed an interest for low class size. I am a child development professional and although the campus is impressive, I was not.

Caring teachers

by Rionegro

Since day one when my little one was a 3 years old, they have been nothing but caring. The teachers are always paying good attention to the children's needs.
My daughter loves her teachers, loves to go there and always talks positive about her school.
I can notice how advance she is compare to other children that don't go to her school.
If other parents have had problems with this school I think it comes from their own homes, when they teach children to be nothing but brats. If the parents don?t give them good education at home, don't expect the school to correct what has been done wrong it their own houses.
Remember, children are a reflection of their own family.

The Kids Liked it

by thaves

I understand the concerns that I have read from other posters, I too had concerns. At the end of the day my boys loved Marina View Pre School. It was rare that they cried when I left and if they did I would hide and watch someone comfort them. In a few minutes the crying would stop daddy would be forgotten.

The school played a big role in the potty training and developmentally I noticed a huge change in them.

You can tell if your three year old likes a place. They had fun, they loved the teachers and enjoyed showing me around.

If it were not for financial constraints they would still be there.

Could the front desk work on being a little more friendly, I guess, did they help out and step up when we had an emergency and needed an extra day here and there, of course they did and that is exactly what you need.

Just like any School its not for everyone. Overall we had good experience and were sad when we left.

Gathering complaints

by cusarights

There is a common theme in how this school's philosophy has impacted parents and their children. This school has put many parents through traumatic experiences by refusing to recognize that every child is an individual with individual needs. Safety is mentioned over and over by the directors as a response to parent postings here as an excuse for masking the fact that developmental individuality is not welcomed.
It is in fact discouraged and criticized, and the child is punished by being excluded and even thrown out, hurting the child's self esteem and confidence.
Intelligent and bright children were not allowed to develop at their pace. The directors are not willing to adapt or tailor the program in any way at all or work with any child in an effort to support the parents.
Nor have they demonstrated any willingness to participate in the development of a child who does not conform to their perceptions. Directors are not interested in what is best for the child and working with the parent to identify areas of opportunity, therefore they do not communicate with parents and instead a parent gets a "surprise" letter notifying them that the child is expelled for reason that the parent had no knowledge of and that could have been easily resolved. Many children who were declared "potty untrainable" by them, were fully trained within 2 weeks after leaving their school with minor effort. This shows that they don't work with a child to potty train and blame the child for the teachers' lack of effort/skills. Please let me know your experience for more information, contact me by email in my profile.

Avoid!!! Very unprofessional and uncaring.

by zeeaba

We enrolled our child in this school after moving to the area. Initially things seemed to go well but then our child began to get ridiculed for their late potty training issues. We spoke to the Teacher and Managers at the time and they encouraged us to continue working with them at home and they would do the same at school. But then one day they left our child's soiled underware in their cubby with their feces still rolled inside. I thought at the time it was to remind us there was a problem but then later I thought I should have reported the school as doing such an act raises a health issue not only for our child but also for everyone else there. Why couldn't they have just flushed it and then spoke to us about it later? After that things calmed for a while until our child had a rough day - crying and kicking furniture. It's funny because it was the first time this ever happened but yet the school never called my husband or I and we never heard about it until a week later when we got a letter from the school asking us to leave. They said it was due to our child's potty training and behavioral issues. They seem to use that excuse a lot. It seems convenient for them when they don't know how to explain their unprofessionalism. Well thankfully after we left a week later we found another school with very supportive teachers and within three weeks our child's potty problem stopped and they are about to start Kindergarten in the fall. Marina View told us we would have issues getting our child into Kindergarten if they were not potty trained but we knew it was only a matter of time. Educators are supposed to be positive role models. Our child has never had behavioral problems and continues to thrive today no thanks to your school. Shame on you for not being more supportive. Not all kids are cookie cutters and not all kids are on your potty training schedule. Our child still remembers your school and refers to you as "The school with the teachers that that tease kids."

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Uncaring and lack of communication

Heartless Daycare!

by dberens

Heartless!!!!!
Watch out for these directors. If you don't have a "perfect child" they will throw them out. I was open about my son's special needs from the beginning and they welcomed us, but they after a not so perfect incident occured were very unwilling to help and partcipate in any state wide "shadowing" help. They never set up a meeting to go over any issues with us and teachers and informed us our son was no longer welcome. Very unprofessional and heartless. The teacher said he was fine but they didn't want any imput from her.

I would not recommend this school!

Pros: Cheap you get what you pay for.

Cons: Unwilling to help children with special needs.

Great Preschool

by icke2012

This is a great preschool. The teachers are highly educated and treat the kids with kindness and respect. The owners are terrific people who love what they do and know how to run a preschool. The kids in this school have a high advantage. I would highly recommend this preschool to all parents.

Do your research - below standards

by lgjonbalaj

The center is run unprofessionally and owners lack customer service skills and dedication in maximizing each child's development. It became very clear to us that the owners' philosophy is all about generating maximum profits.

BEWARE!!

by resartoris

I have worked in daycares for several years and have a graduate degree in education. This center is run very unprofessionally! I was very disappointed in their directors lack of "customer service" and people skills and would not recommend this daycare to anyone! If you want the best for your child, some local alternatives are: Children's World, Tutor Time and Pacific Preschool. Thank you.

Pros: NONE

Cons: Uneducated Staff, Unprofessional, Old toys
