Pros: fast delivery, nice staff, good prices

Cons: this is your typical vegan/thai fusion place

I have eaten here close to a dozen times. Me and my friends love this place. The staff is very friendly and are genuinely happy to see us. I love the pancakes and the tofu scramble. Like me my friends always order the same dishes: the Pai Thai, Cowboy buger and the Chicken Nugget type dish. All of these examples are well done. I have had many other dishes that I also have greatly enjoys. Very small dining area with counter service. Very Clean and well maintained.

This is probably my favorite place to dine in LA. Not great for a large group, but perfect for a couple of friends or take out. I've never had a bad meal, the service is fast, and the prices are cheap. My personal favorites are the seitan wrap, breakfast burrito 4, the pancakes, the fajitia wrap and the pad thai. All amazing! Also, all of the desserts are great and always taste fresh. I definitely recommend this place.

If you eat vegan, Vegan Express has A lot to offer. I have many favorites off the breakfast menu, but I love the pancakes. They have lots of great sandwiches & wraps. I like the chicken sandwich, which is very good with their homemade french fries. The noodle dishes are great. My favorite is the See-Yew noodles, flat noodles with brocolli, bean sprouts, tofu woked up with a fantastic array of seasonings. They have great desserts and the service is very friendly. It's kinda hidden away, giving it A comfortable off the radar charm.

I happened upon this restaurant accidently--noticing "Thai" on the sign. (I love Thai food) Vegan Express is definately a hole in the wall but once you get inside it feels like home. I chatted with the staff for 15 minutes before diving into a "chicken" sandwich. I've never met nicer staff at any restaurant in LA. I've lived in Los Angeles 10 years and suddenly I felt like I was back in Santa Cruz--where I went to college. Now about the food... It was easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! I eat meat nearly every day, and I have to admit WOW did it taste like chicken. I was so happy with the chicken, I ordered the coconut soup and took it home. Delicious! This restaurant will easily be a staple of mine--plus it's very affordable.

Pros: Great Food, Awesome Service

Cons: Parking, easy to miss because of location

Their food is amazing, it is so tasteful. I highly reccomend the cowboy burger with the cheeze (yes spelled that way, as this is a vegan restaurant). The mock chicken dinner is also very good as is the fake chicken sandwhich. I love this place, I try to go as often as I can. P.S. the fries are great too! And the staff is so freindly. =) I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee loveeeee loveeee loveeeeeeeeeee this place <3

Pros: small location, sort of hard to find-stick in the wall joint, limited parking

Cons: AMAZING FOOD, a great treasure when you do find it

.

the food is awesome. i highly recommend the glass noodle dish or the "chicken" nuggets, which tastes just like chicken! the staff is extremely friendly and prices are really cheap. it's true the dining area is small, but it creates a cozy atmosphere. being a carnivore, i was skeptical at first but now it's one of my favorite places to eat. definitely worth checking out if you're ever by universal studios.

Pros: food, service, price

Cons: parking (although there is a small lot around back in the alley)

I have been coming here for years. The food is good, the staff is extremely friendly. I love the breakfast - not too many places offer tofu scramble! Only complaints - could open earlier, and I enjoy a less health-conscious selection of beverages. I am vegetarian but I don't like kombucha and would like to be able to have typical options like a soda or coffee, but according to a staff member, most customers prefer the healthy selections offered. Maybe they do, but I feel that anyone taking offense that coffee or non-decaf tea is available in a restaurant should consider their mental health as well as the health of their diet. But this is a good place to eat, and has a large selection of vegan fare.

i knew of vegan express even before i moved to LA, through my trusted vegan channels. probably the best pad thai i ever had (and i had many). inexpensive. scott, the lovely young man who works behind the counter, knows me by name and always chats with me when i dine at his restaurant. everybody else in the kitchen is friendly and recognizes me when i show up. it feels like home, just with much better food. i wish they stayed open later than 9:00PM on weekdays. also, they take credit cards. i love vegan express!

Ever since we entered this place, we keep coming back. Brought carnivores there too - everyone is happy! And if you happen to eat in the back, they have 3 little tables in the cutest balcony - great place to sit down. The place is friendly and the food is just great. I usually eat the Thai salad - addicted to it, I guess. Anything else we had tried there has been wondrful. When we come in a big group we order a lot and share!

I eat lunch at Vegan Express frequently. They serve very good vegan fare and have an extensive menu. The noodles are excellent. The only drawback is that the service (food prep) can be slow. However, it's good enough to be worth the wait. The interior is no-thrills going on bare-bones, with counter pick-up for your food. As long as you're in the mood for a very casual meal, I recommend it.

I've been here with my meat eating friends and THEY liked it too!! Which is very rare. Tasty treats, a wide selection, reasonably priced, and the lil' asian lady that runs things is adorable. She also steered me away from a dessert item she said was "no good" (they've since removed it from the menu). Get Nayonaise on everything. The menu has traditional Californian/vegetarian dishes, as well as some Thai/Chinese staples. I'd go more often if I lived closer.

any people are food prejudice when it comes to trying vegetarian or vegan dishes. This place ends all of that. I have treated some of the biggest carnivores to lunch at Vegan Express, and they always want to go back. The food is just amazing. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and have not been disappointed. The food is mostly Thai and American dishes. Its a little place; you may drive past it three times trying to find it. Celebrities have been known to stop by. I highly recommend.

The food is good--when they actually have it in stock. Eating here reminds me why Santa Cruz used to frustrate me so much. Hippies are sometimes very slow on the uptake and then can't get through a sentence without spacing out at least once. If that's not one of your pet peeves and you're trying to eat healthy/vegetarian/vegan, then this is definitely a must-stop for you. However, it can also be frustrating when you try to order three different things and at least one of the crucial ingrediants for each of them is not in stock. Maybe I'm just a bad carnivore who doesn't understand their esoteric ways.
