I only go to Jody's for the fried chicken. It is truly the best I've ever had. They take out the fat but leave the skin and then fry it up in some special spices/recipe that is to die for. The only problem is that sometimes the wait is so long, I'm lightheaded from hunger...!

I have been going to Jodies for about 8 years now and it I never grow tired of it. The food is ridiculously good and there are so many choices you have no choice but to keep going back for more. The atmosphere is like sitting at a family table where everybody knows everyone. The place is tiny, the most it can fit is between 6 and 8. The line can be long, especially on Saturday and Sundays. if you want the Fried Chicken, call in advance and order it, otherwise chances are there won't be any left.

Jodies is a great place to eat, but his prices are pretty high.

As another reviewer noted, Jodie does get to know everyone who comes into the place. It only seats around 7 people, so things get pretty cozy. Many eating there are regulars, and they often take on the task of helping out (explaining the menu, handing condiments and plates out to folks sitting at an outside table). The fried chicken is awesome, I must say. The fried chicken breakfast (Saturdays and Sundays) consists of chicken and another item. I've had it with french toast a couple of times. Very filling but delicious.

PROS: fried chicken, friendly atmosphere
CONS: a little crowded, not cheap for a "hole in the wall" type place

Jodie's restaurant seats eight people max. I think that Jodie knows everyone that eats there personally. The first time we ate there, the counter was manned by one of the "regulars", who proceeded to give us the 411 about what to order. We were told that the first timer can order something off the menu, but after that Jodie will probably cook something up that he thinks you should eat. It's one of the most unique places I've ever eaten. Sat and Sun Jodie serves his world famous friend chicken. You have to have this for breakfast w/ his pancakes. Most weekends, the chicken is sold out before the day is through. No wonder, you'll be coming back for more once you've tried it.

PROS: Authentic home cooking w/ a cast of regulars that could be on a sitcom
CONS: Fries were soggy once, uncomfortable place if you want your space

Great little local diner off of Solano Ave, across from the BART tracks. Pancakes w/ syrup are to die for. Jodie will make you feel right at home with his friendly demeanor and cordial smile. Great for Sunday brunch.
