I have been going here for approximately 2 years and I just can't take it anymore, as it has gone completely down hill! I agree with the girl below. They are only trying to make a quick buck. If you want to be rush out, treated like you don't matter then go here. \r\n\r\nThe people that work here seem miserable with their job or life, I don't know what it is. But I am WILLING to pay top dollar and STILL DO NOT get the service I request!

I have been to Changes twice for a full body massages and they were AMAZING! I highly recommend going to your appointment at least 20 minutes early so you can go into the steam room before your massage. The spa is very nice and peaceful! I also recommend to plan on staying for about an hour or so after your massage in their relaxation room. The room has lounge chairs for you, a full wall water fountain and snack bar with cereal bars, tea, water, chocolate, dried cranberries and almonds. From the relaxation room, I headed to the steam room then to the showers. The bathroom is fully stocked with everything you need to get ready! My full experience here was WONDERFUL! I didn't score higher than 4 because I've never been to another spa so i can't say this is the best. But it was pretty darn great!

I have been going to Changes Salon for several years now, and I I am completely satisfied. I use to live in San Francisco, and after we moved out to the East Bay I had a very hard time finding a salon that I was satisfied with. I actually had bad hair for those years, which if you knew me says a lot! I am extremely picky about my cut and color, and wasn't satisfied until I met Lauren Davis at Changes. She fixed my previously poorly highlighted hair, and gave me an expert cut. She has never disappointed me in all the times I have gone to her, and I see her every 10 weeks without fail. She is a master at color, but her cuts are just as good, and grow out perfectly. I am very happy with Lauren and Changes Salon!

I went here to celebrate becoming employed again, and found this spa to be a pleasantly run, albeit a bit noisy establishment. That's always the risk you run when the spa is attached to a shop. The foot bath was nice except for the ladies sitting next to me yakking like they were in a nail salon. Ladies: Spa etiquette: If you are in a dimly lit part of the spa where people are quietly relaxing.....please do so yourselves! My massage was perfect, and the massage tech listened carefully to my needs and kept checking with me throughout. My only complaint is that for my manicure, the nail technicians are out in the lobby of the salon, which is a bit jarring when you've just been in a quiet massage. Pedicures, however, are done in the quiet part of the salon, and I did have a wonderful ""dozing pedicure"" where she reclined my chair back while she worked on my tootsies....never had that before! Overall, nice people, however, and great afternoon!

I have been getting pedicures at Changes for several years. The few experienced technicians - and make sure to ask - are great! They are super friendly, and do a top-notch job. The pedicure lounge chairs are fabulous, the place is clean and strerile, and the technicians really take pride in their work. The setting is tranquil, and you're pampered with eye pillows, neck wraps, and blankets, which makes the whole experience very relaxing - well worth the price (spa pedicure $65).

The hair stylists are far inferior by comparison - even the 2 they tout as their best. Pleased with their nail services, I decided to give Changes a try for my hair. The manager recommended one of their 2 executive stylists/trainers. The cut was a disaster. I made two trips back for the stylist to fix it, and rather than being apologetic, each visit became increasingly contentious. Eventually the manager suggested the other executive stylist try to fix it. The other stylist was not open to discussing how my hair had been cut in the past to avoid a repeat of the bad cut - telling me "I already know how I'm going to cut it". Another $90 later, I had the same bad cut. What's worse is this time Changes refused to correct it, and left me scrambling to find someone at another salon to fix their mistake. The owner defended the skill of her hair technicians and made me out to be an overly-picky client. I finally found another salon, Tribez in Danville, who not only fixed the cut (it's perfect!) but questionned who had cut my hair because it was so bad.

I get both my hair and waxing done at Changes because the staff is incredibly professional. As soon as you walk into the salon, you don't feel like an outsider (as some salons can often make you feel like). Everything is incredibly sanitary and modern, and the products available for purchase are some of the top names. They always make me feel like a superstar, whether getting my hair cut or waxing something. The prices are a bit steep for its suburban location, but I only go once in a great while to make my money stretch. They understand that and always take it into consideration. In addition, they have late hours so I rarely find them completely booked.

I too was a very big fan of changes salon. I went in for a facial, which was heavenly! The massage, the treatment, the friendliness.... All very well done! The salon is also clean, and very inviting passed the front desk!
Afterward, I had purchased some products for my face. These were a little pricy, but I decided to give it a try anyway. The instructions on what to do when I got home were wonderful. I was now ready to pay. Not only did I catch attitude coming in to check in which I had blown off, but I had gotten it leaving too!
Also... My face was burned and very dry on the lower part of my face. I had 2 Christmas parties to go to, and when I had my makeup dont for the first one, the artist had commented on how burned my face was on the bottom, and not to go back there. The patch of dry/burned skin was there for around 3-4 weeks!
Needless to say, I needed to take the products that werent working for me, and when I went to do the return, I was told that they would need to take the amount used out of my price that I would recieve back. I have ever heard of such a rule! Also, since the products were after the supposid 30 day return policy which I was never returned, they would not do a thing for me! Not only was I unhappy, but will never be going back again!

The atmosphere at the salon in Changes is very friendly. It's a beautiful salon, and as far as I've noticed it's tidy as well.

I've only had haircuts at Changes. The first time I came here, I chose to have an "executive" stylist cut my hair. I was blindly placed with VENUS. I put my trust in her and Changes (The price forced me to trust them, ha), and I came out looking fresh and confident. I've gone back to Venus twice, and she's never failed to disappoint me. All the of the stylists, and even other customers, would compliment myself and her on how good my haircuts looked! I'm telling you, if you want a great haircut, or something more daring, Venus is a great stylist. She could make ANYTHING look good on anyone, I'm telling you. She'll pause at certain intervals of the haircut, and tell you what she's going to do next, and ask if you'd like add some sort of variation. Also, she's not one of those stylists who'd hack off your hair a foot more than you asked for. I trust her so much, I let her cut off THIRTEEN inches of my hair. She's also a sweet woman, and definitely has a lot of character.

I'd like to speak on my sister's experience as well. I'd been gushing to her about how much I loved Venus, and I convinced her that she should try Changes. However, she chose a stylist named ELISABETH instead, because she was in such a hurry to get a haircut that she didn't want to wait a while to schedule an appointment with Venus. Suffice to say, she was very disappointed. It's not that the haircut didn't look good; it wasn't the haircut she wanted.

If you haven't the money to invest in a $52 executive stylist, there are three more affordable levels of experience.

Changes also has a center for well-being, and a wide variety of massages, facials, and various other treatments.

For other services, the prices range from affordable to very high-priced.

Thus far, I have had no bad experience with the staff here. Everyone seems to be very nice, courteous, and positive.

Only reason I took off one star, is because I've only had haircuts here, and no other services. However, if I were to receive other services here, I'd be confident I'd come out satisfied.

It was awful until I found Jim. He was great! My hair is very asian - straight and on top of that thin too. So I like short haircuts with graduated bob at the back and an A line in the front. I've never been happy after the haircuts until I found him. Once when he wasn't available Rachel had cut my hair and I left very unhappy. First of all, the woman wore extremely uncomfortable clothes (tight jeans and high heels) that prevented her from bending down. And she used a razor blade the whole time, even though I kept asking her to use the scissors.\r\n\r\nWithout knowing that Jim has left the Changes I called the place last week and was told that he is not there, but they insisted in finding someone else who could cut my hair. That someone else was Elisabeth. She was clueless what I wanted! In a minute she started to cut I knew if was going to be a fiasco. I was ready to cry when I saw a stylist next to us cutting someone's hair. That was basically the haircut I wanted and I told Elisabeth about it. And then that stylist next to us - Caron looked what I had and I think she knew Elisabeth's incompetence and stepped in and cut my hair! And saved my day.\r\n\r\nElisabeth can't cut hair, maybe she is good at coloring, but she is not a good stylist. But it's not fair that she charges $52!

After being 15 mins. late for my appointment because there was NO parking with in 6 blocks things went from bad to worse. Me being late seemed ok because the hair stylist was 30 mins late her self. \r\nI asked for some low lights and my hair is so dark... I cant even stand to look in the mirror. \r\n\r\nThe hair stylist knew I was not happy and yet did NOT offer to fix the problem because she thought my hair would become damaged by what she had done. \r\n\r\nAnd if thats not bad...... $200 dollars later I will have to pay someone else to fix my hair......\r\n\r\n\r\nBottom line . \r\n\r\nBad Parking, inexperience, Over priced

I have been going to Changes for a while now. My first experience was HORRIBLE. I had extremly long, thick, and naturally curly hair. I told my stylist, Jim, that I only wanted a trip. He kept insisting that I get more and more cut off. I told him no! Not only that but I was kicked out before he was even done drying it because he said he had another client coming in. I then received a gift card from someone and decided to give it another chance. I called and asked for a senior stylist who could cut natually curly, thick hair, and I wanted enough time to have my hair dryed straight. I saw Jack, and was WONDERFUL!!! He knew exactly what I wanted and I absolutely loved my hair cut (I had about 8 inches cut off). Jack's hair cuts are about $20 more than anyone else there and his schedule is booked for months out. That being said I have started going to Lauren and she does a great job too. If you don't mind waiting 3-6 months for an appointment I would highly recommend Jack..NOT JIM! But Laruen is great as well. Overall, I always leave with a great cut, which can sometimes be very hard with naturally curly hair. If you need your hair dryed make sure you tell them when you book or you will be kicked out.

I had a gorgeous haircut that I had gotten at a very fine salon in New York. 2 months later I needed a hair trim. I requested a senior hairstylist who could work with curly hair. She was shown closeup pictures of the original haircut from front, back, and both sides, and asked to follow the lines of the original haircut. She was also told that I specifically did not want many layers, because my very curly hair would frizz if she did that. I ended up with a misshapen hairstyle, so much layering I couldn't see straight, and my beautiful, elegant original hairstyle completely butchered.\r\n\r\nOn top of that, the stylist was so lost, that she piled on hair product after hair product while blowdrying, until eventually my ridiculously styled hair was gunky, flat and sticking out funny. I rushed home to wash my hair, just to keep from looking goulish.\r\n\r\nAfter calling and comp-lainging to the manager, I was offered a free hairstyling to correct the mistakes, but my hair had been so completely chopped up that the new stylist and I both agreed that we would have to wait at least 2 months before he could even attempt to correct the problem. \r\n\r\nThe manager expressed surprise when I told her my haircut was so bad and told me that she herself would have recommended that particular stylist. Knowing that the manager would recommend someone so inept made me uneasy. However, I must say that the second stylist was genuine and straightforward and seemed to understand what had gone wrong. \r\n\r\n IT will be 6-8 months for my hair to grow enough so that I can have the original hairstyle I loved, because the stylist cut the whole thing up so bad.\r\n\r\n

I came in desperately needing my color fixed. My roots were grey, then I had a band of color (I ashamedly admit I did my own color at home), then the rest of my hair was a different color. I was scheduled with Robin who just finished the training program at Changes so I was a bit nervous. She did a great consultation and then met with a educator about my ""formula"". I couldn't believe how perfectly she got the color to match! The band is gone, the grey is gone and it was a bargain compared to the place I used to go. She also sold me a Bumble product to spray on my roots to cover the grey since I wait too long...I highly recommend Robin and Changes.

I went to changes salon, excited to get my hair colored and cut. Unfortunately I left very sad, disappointed, and distressed. The colorist did not listen to what I asked for (and we discussed for 10 minutes) at all. Normally it takes about an hour for a colorist to do highlights on my thick hair, but it took this lady over 2 hours! When she was done my hair was not Blonde....it was ORANGE. I was still expecting to get a haircut (since that is what i scheduled 3 weeks in advanced), but I was told since it took so long to do my highlights I was going to have to reschedule because she had another client waiting. I was basically kicked out of the salon with terrible highlights, no haircut, and the rudest service I have ever experiences in my life.\r\n\r\nI then called a manager to discuss what could be done about this. I agreed to come in and meet with a 'senior' stylist to figure out how to fix the color. Coming in the next day the stylist tried to fix it, but only made my hair even more yellow/orange. It was horrible. I explained my frustrations and the lady then told me 'it could be impossible to reach the color you are wanting' (which it isnt due to the fact I have had it all my life...and went somewhere else the following week and had it corrected perfectly). The only redeeming quality at Changes Salon was that they issued me my money back. I would never send anyone here for anything. It seems like all their stylists are untrained and just looking to make a quick buck. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!

Cons: Untrained stylists, Rude employees, just out to make money

I love this salon, I have been going here for years and truly enjoy each and every visit. It is located in a great part of Walnut Creek, although the parking is a bit hard but otherwise its great. Once you walk in the door you get greeted immediately and feel right at home. They offer everything from mani/pedi's to hair removal to color/cut, to permanent tattooing, they have everything you could ever want. Although there prices are a bit high you get what you pay for in this salon!!

PROS: Good Location
CONS: Expensive

I've been a customer of Changes for many years. The salon and day spa's atmosphere is friendly and relaxing with a new color scheme of light blues and chocolate browns with a modern, yet comfortable feel. I've been getting regular facials from one of the most knowledgeable aestheticians, Cat. She is on a constant quest to find the best skin care products and make them available to her clients. She not only provides excellent service, but educates me on the best way to keep my skin looking its best. The ""Only Natural"" manicures and pedicures are a luscious and rich experience not to be missed!

I have been having my hair cut and highlighted/lowlighted by Lauren at Changes for a year now, and she is by far the best stylist I have ever been to. I am extremely picky about my hair, and usually was never satisfied before I found her. She highlights my blonde hair into a natural shade of light and darker highlights that grow out with ease. She cuts my hair in long layers that frame my face, and it always looks beautiful. The salon is clean and peaceful, and has just been recently remodeled. It is connected to a day spa and it always smells delicious--like lavender. They have cucumber water to drink in the waiting area, and the staff is attentive and polite. Best of all, they are open 7 days a week, and there is a receptionist on staff during all business hours to schedule appointments.

I bought a gift card for my girlfriend from Changes and I set appointments for us both to go in. I was blown away by how nice everyone was to us. We both had massages and then she went on to have a facial, pedicure and her hair done. I was very impressed with my massage, and my girl friend said everything she had done was great. My girlfriend is very picky so I won some major brownie points from this gig. Good job!!!

I've been seeing Joyce for haircuts and style for 4 years. She is terrific, listens to what I want, makes great suggestions, very professional, personable, always prompt. I've also had several pedicures and while expensive, they are very relaxing and worth the money as a special treat. Their chairs are so comfortable, you can sip on wine, relax in very dim light (they only light your feet) and listen to the music. I have fallen asleep a couple times. I highly recommend Changes.

Get ready to get pampered big time! C H A N G E S is a really nice spa where you can get your nails done get a massage, laser hair removal, waxing, facials, all of that self- pamperment stuff! They are moderetally expensive, but you feel really great when you leave. You DO need an appointment for most things, I would suggest calling in beforehand to get prices, etc. You get welcomed right away and the people are very warm and friendly and professional!

I had an excellent facial and multiple wonderful haircuts at Changes. My manicure was subpar, mainly due to the person who performed it, but I still highly recommend the hair salon.
