It's great to have a neighborhood Japanese market. I can get rice (white short-grain, brown or sweet rice (for making mochi cakes)), tofu, veggies, fish as well as the plates to serve them on/in. If you get there early enough, there is a nice selection of sushi plates along with rice bowls, seaweed salad, Japanese pickles. They sell my current fave brand of loose green tea (Maeda-En) that is either made in the teapot or they sell the packets of tea bags that you can fill yourself, which is a brilliant idea. The staff is very prompt and helpful.

Even though this Japanese grocery is small, they tend to carry everything I need. It's the size of a larger convenience store but they carry produce, frozen foods, and they have a decent seafood counter. I stock up on staples and check out any Hawaiian goodies they may offer - and I always make sure I pick up a package or chopped green onion. (I wish other places would start doing that - it's so convenient!)

PROS: chopped green onion!
CONS: smallish
