Blue Mango is one of my favorite Thai Restaurants. It has a wide selection of vegetarian options. The prices are decent. The service is great as the waiters are very kind and friendly. Whenever I go to Blue Mango I always look forward to their dessert menus. I've tried almost everything and all of them have not failed me. It's a great place to go and check out.

I came here with a group of friends for dinner, and they accomodated us well. It wasn't too crowded either. There are a handful of vegetarian options, as well as non-vegetarian options, so it's great for anyone! I ordered the Pad Thai and was pleased. The prices are okaaay, but not the cheapest deal. Worth a try.

This is nice place for Veggie Thai lovers. We had tried the Simply Vegetables soup to start with. Later on dish that we tried and liked are Bamboo Mountain, Devoted Vegetables which is surved in yellow coconut milk curry. Overall food is of good quality and nicely presented.

If you go bit early for dinner, you will be able to get hold of nice place and will enjoy your food.

PROS: Veggie Thai lovers can have many options
CONS:

We love thai food of any kind, but the reason we end up going to Blue Mango again and again is caz of their dessert - mango samosa with coconut icecream. They have small samosas made of sticky rice and mango, fried and served with amazing cocunt ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce- its the best dessert!!

This Thai restaurant has won the best silicon valley vegetarian thai restaurant for a couple years already. I went there two times and I love the food there. Usually, I don't drink thai food because they are so strong and spicy. But, I love the soup there, esp when you stir in some rice! The vegetarian dishes are great but they have a bit of chinese taste. I love the blue mango fried rice with yummy minced pork on top, which is very unique. They also have live free jazz peformance once every week. It might hurt your wallet a bit more but it's defintely a good one to try if you are around the area or afer shopping at Valley Fair Mall.

The food is okay, expensive, but the service is really bad. Few servers make you feel as if you are eating for free..very bad behavior.

The tall lady , she even appears in the picture on blue mango website, 4th from the left, someone like a manager , I think she is called Amy, extremely rude and unprofessional.
We had been waiting for 20 minutes on the table, with no water and no menu. And when we requested her to bring some water, she ignored us few times and then replied very rudely saying she has no time for all this.
She never came back to our table to ask what we wanted. ..sucks..really bad.
Why waste money and get bad attitude from people..
We would never go back again.

Horrible place, they over price you unlike I have ever seen before. If you are not of asian decent you will have to wait forever and get horrible service. They go as far as serving a Asian group 5 times before they serve you if your white. If you ask for soup and they say 2 bowls or a pott you better say 2 bowls or you will get ripped off.

Friday eve four of us went to Blue Mango at 8 p.m. to have dinner since it was my son's 24th birthday. We were told to wait for 20 minutes which was acceptable since we had not called earlier to make reservations. Eventually there was no place to sit in the waiting area so we stood up for some time making place to accomodate others. I kept checking with the attendant and he was not willing to give a proper answer. The people who came after us also got a table but we still kept waiting till 9 p.m. I again asked the guy why we were made to wait so long and he said that he had a table which could seat 5 people but not 4 so he had another family occupy that table who had just walked in. After which there were other 3 tables given out to different families who came in after us but the guy would not seat the 4 of us. We finally left at 9 p.m. hungry and disappointed and decided never to go back to Blue Mango again.
The staff there first should be taught hospitality and appropriate behaviour. It seems as though they are not concerned about their customers instead looked like they were obliging us. I have never come across such a hostile behavoiur in a restaurant. NEVER NEVER AGAIN.

We made reservations a week in advance for 8 people on a Sunday at 4pm.. They called us back and asked where we were on Saturday at 4.. Day too early.. So we made the reservations on Sunday for 5 pm when they opened. We get there, and they didn't have our reservations still. We sit down and order within 10 minutes since we were on a time crunch. The place was soooo hot. We literally were sweating. Water didn't come for a good 30 minutes after we had to stop someone to get it for us.. but the drinks that we had ordered still hadn't shown up. 40 minutes after we ordered, our food finally came; portions were small, the "spicy" wasn't spicy at all, and worst of all, there was a BINDER CLIP in the curry!!! My garlic chicken had something really hard in it, which I feared chipped my tooth. My friend, who had the same dish, also ate something hard which is still questionable on what it was. Our drinks finally came after our food was consumed (minus the binder clip of course). When the check came, there were items charged that we ordered, that never came.. I demanded that they be taken off, and the food with the binder clip was taken off too. They also gave us 15% off since I threw a fit that it took so long. They added a 20% gratuity to the check, which I refused to pay because I wasn't grateful for any of the service that was provided.. (or lack there of). I would never ever EVER go to this place again... and take my advise.. don't go there yourself.

Cons: food, service, bathroom, drinks, binder clip

Blue Mango has a huge variety of delicious items, including many vegetarian dishes! The simply vegetable soup (with silver noodles) is the most soothing, BEST soup I have ever had. Sweet potato sticks are just, uh, YUM! Bamboo mountain, with mushrooms, veggies, and tofu is out of this world. I might just have to go here every day and bring a container of the soup home!! The service is friendly, quick, and with smiles. I love this place!!

I'm going to keep it short! I loved it here! The curries are yummy and so are the stir-fries. I also like their pineapple fried rice, and how it is NOT served in a pineapple shell because I heard that restaurants who use them reuse them. GROSS! So i'm glad mine comes on a nice white plate! Also, I ordered the spicy garlic chicken too spicy and the waitress asked it I wanted her to bring it back! Thank goodness, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to finish it! WHen here don't forget to leave room for dessert.

Unfortunately, in 2006 the San Jose Mercury News readers made the inexcusable mistake of rating "Blue Mango" as the best Thai Restaurant in San Jose. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The Tom Kah Gai (Chicken) Soup arrived mildly warm with very little spice. The Chef used only half of the usual Thai ingredients others Thai restaurants use for flavoring. The result was a bland tepid uninspired start. (Compare Tom Kah Gai soup at Thai Pepper or Krung Thai, in San Jose, and you'll see that the presentation should be on a burner with the soup simmering with a bounty of Thai herbs and spices with a kick.) The Won Ton Soup and Chicken Satee were competently prepared though not inspired with any flare.

The second big disappointment was the Heavenly Stuffed Chicken Wings. I've had the same dish prepare by Thai Restaurants from San Francisco down throughout the Silicon Valley and I can say these wings were among the most bland I have ever tasted. Each bite was dry and without flavor or spice.

Both the Pineapple Fried Rice and the Pad Thai Noodles were swimming in sauce. Where did the Chef learn that fried rice should be wet and soggy? The Pineapple Fried Rice was also not served in a pineapple bowl as you would find at many Thai restaurants that cared about food presentation, which Blue Mango does not. The Pad Thai Noodles were almost inedible having been so heavily coated in a tangy sauce that no amount of bean sprouts or chopped peanuts could have tamed.

The Volcano Chicken ended up being roughly chopped bone-in chicken parts with coarsely chopped veggies on a warm iron plate, so that there was nothing volcanic about it; no steam rose from the dish and the taste was worse than bland. The Chicken Curry was acceptable.

Bottom line-no flavor, no visual presentation, and no creativity. Pass on this one.

YES it's very busy on Friday nights! So I go on Saturday nights! I caught a live music night which was very delightful. I've been going here since it opened in 2002/2003 and it's changed a lot! But the food is great, and the service is awesome. I can tell that on Monday there are like 2 waitresses but on Friday and Saturday there are 6! I love the Tom Yum and Tropical Curry (which has mangoes hmmmm). DOn't bring your kids if they're rowdy because the place is small, and the staff will walk them back to their seats! Someone was complaining about it, but I think it's wonderful!

I was once a big fan of this resturant . It used to be our favorite resturant reserved for all those special occasions . Now adays the SERVICE QUALITY has deteoriated and so has the TASTE of the FOOD . The red curry is very salty and prik king stir fry was very very bad . There are only 2 people serving the whole servant on a busy day and sometime they tend to show their frustration on the customers which is highly disappointing . Well when you pay such a high price you atleast expect a reasonable service and good food !

The food was good, the portions also were huge, but the waitress was very unfriendly with our friends 2 yr old kid!. First she gave crayons along with a sheet with colored animals to the kid , and then later came and told the kid not to color that page as it was supposed to be a kids menu! Then after some time she again comes and tells the kid not to play with the chopsticks and asks her to keep the chopsticks away! Other places give kid friendly chopsticks and are not bothered whether the kid is playing with it or not! We have never seen such kid-unfriendly restaurant anywhere!

Although Thai food in America never compares to the sidewalk stalls in Thailand, I think Blue Mango does a pretty good job. Although not everything they serve is Thai (they have some new creations of their own ie the creamcheese wonton-very very good), I love most of their dishes. I would recommend to you the coconut soup (thom kah) hmmm, and try to save room for desert! I sometimes do take out just so that I won't be tempted by it, but sometimes it's just too hard to resist. For main course, I love the Seafood Feast!

I haven't been here since it first opened (moved out of town, but just returned) and it's changed lots. The restaurant is much busier, but their staff has greatly incresed to accomodate. I can't remember what the food use to taste like, but I remember I liked it back then too. There are many more items on the menu. The place still looks the same though, and I love the huge painting of the temple in the middle of the room. PS if you want to know what's really good there, ask the waitress what she had there last or will have that evening.

I've heard about this place and decided to stop in and try out the Blue Mango. They offer a good variety of food options here and the appetizers and the prices are reasonable. The serve the food Family Style and expect to pay around $5-$10 for Appetizers and for Plates $8 - $14. Portion sizes are decent. They do a good job in flavoring and the curry was done with just enough spiciness for me.

Though the food was good the service was slow. We waited about 30 minutes before we were seated and then 15 minutes for our order. But once our order was taken the food came out very quickly. There is also limited parking.

Overall, I would come back here again because of the good food and reasonable prices and will hope the slow service was due to coming on a busy night.

Thai food are very tasteful, delicious, creamy but not fatty rich. Each menu has its own distinctive flavor and aroma that differs from the other. It's very different from chinese food that just garlic/onion/salt/pepper/soy sauce - saute all meus, ohh some are deep fried. I would say that this restaurant makes good Thai food and excellent price. Probably not elegant dining but for someon who does not cook like me, this one goes on my daily list.

My waitress was nice. We got the Bangkok Platter which has an appetizer tray, which was good. Great peanut sauce! I got the pad tahi noodles which was tasty, and the pking pork which was a little different for me but still good. they even have brown rice option. Our dessert was a chocolate pyramid which was a perfect ending.

Overpriced small plates and superbly slow service. What started out as a much-anticipated Thai food adventure ended in sore disappointment. The spicy noodles were clumpy, the spinach and mushrooms too salty, and the basil chili chicken was just underwhelming. The tom yum soup was ok but definitely not Bay Area's best. The mango samosa is a creative take on mango and sticky rice but definitely not worth our 20-minute wait.

We went to Blue Mango twice, had different stuff from the veggie menu, ranging from appetizers to desert..on both occasions, the food was ok, but what makes us keep going back is their desert menu. We had Mango samosas, which was the most amazing desert for someone who even slightly likes the taste of pineapple, coconut and mangoes

This place has the hughest dessert menu I've ever seen!! I loved all of them! They have this new one - mango samosa. Hmmm! The place was softly colored, and the staff is really nice. I've been there many, many times, and I've seen it when it's been super busy and when it's super slow. Of course everything is faster on the slower days so I recommend not going FRI or SAT if you're the impatience type. I also would recommend NOT getting everything mild (because Thai dishes are best with a bit of spice), or else be prepared for things to be bland (that goes for all Thai & Indian food). But don't take my word for it, make your own opinion and try it yourself! My favorite dish is the Spicy Waterfall Beef - very flavorful, and especially yummy at spicelevel number 3! (any lower and it's bland).

The food was rather overpriced. The dishes were small and were not very tasty. The Calmari seafood dish was yucky. The beef salad was bland. The SPICY & TANGY SOUP(TOM YUM KAI ) was not spicy and very salty. The COCONUT SOUP (TOM KAH KAI) was bland as well. The dessert was ok, but the best part about my meal was the Thai Iced Tea.

I also have to say the service was slow to fill my water since the place seem to have 10 to 20% occupancy.

I try to make it here at least once a week. My favorite dishes are: chicken with chili and basil - great chunks of chicken, perfect blend of spices; beef or chicken prik king - great flavor, fresh vegetables, curry flavor but not heavy/oily; and stir-fried calamari w/ basil - lots of nice big chunks of fresh squid cooked up with fresh thai basil. Kick back with a couple Singhas usually, but the wine list is pretty good (and reasonable). Pretty popular Fri/Sat but you can usually get seated in 10-15 min even at peak times.

Easy to find. Great location. Friendly servers providing excellent services. The restaurant offers wide variety of mouthwatering entrees and appetizers. Comforting setting and Thai decorations are perfect for romantic dates, family get togethers, or friend hangouts. Delicious food with one affordable price. A place I would definitely dine again and I highly recommended.

What a surpise to find this place. It is not easy to find, but it's worth the search. The waitresses are really nice, and the food is great! I ponder whether to share this treasure. I had the Basil and Chili with Beef and it was so good!!! The walls are so earthy toned-made me feel very warm. Will be going back for sure!

I had experienced the worst Thai restaurant at Blue Mango. I would not recommended to anyone simply because the seafood were NOT fresh and the NOT fully cooked. I had the Squid appetizer and it tasted raw in the center. The asparagus and shrimp dish I had was the same, raw in the center and not fresh. I was not happy with the food. Although the service was good but the food was NOT well prepared.

This place is great! Kicks butt on any other Thai restaurant I've been to, and I've been to a bunch. I wish they were closer to some of the attractions I like to go to..like movie theaters or Santana Row..but it doesn't matter, I'll be coming back...the food is so fresh and light, not greasy like some others..plus, the waitress's are really cute...not that it matters

This is oneof the best Thai restaurants i have ever eaten at. The service is friendly and fast and the food is simply amazing. On top of the already delectable fare they have they let you customize your order with no fuss. Also they have complete vegetarian menu with delightful options.

in short.. a must go restaurant..will make for a very pleasent and satisfying meal.

After living in Asia and plenty of trips to Thailand, I've tried lots of Thai restaurants in the Bay Area. Blue Mango is definitely the best. Great food, just like you'd find when dining with locals in Bangkok. Extensive menus, great staff, down-to-earth owners. Good Isan and Veg selections, quick friendly service. If you want to try something new, let the wait staff make a recommendation. I always take friends and visitors here.

Eating in the restaurant, I thought it was some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten it was fantastic! However, the past three times that we made an order to pick up we have been quite disappointed with the food. It just didn't taste nearly as good as the food we were served in the restaurant. It's a mystery :)
At any rate, I still highly rate this restaurant to dine in for it's quality of food, service, and value.

I heard great things of this restaurant and had to go see for myself what all the fuss was about. So I finally there and found the decor, service and food was outstanding! It was easy to find and I loved the thai tea. I had the Nad Ra and I highly recommmend it. The other dishes that I had had a wonderful blend of spices, fused with fresh vegtables and tender meats. I can't wait until the next time I go...The best Thai restaurant by far! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
