Payless Car Rental

Rented in San Bruno, CA (near SF Airport).Was quoted one price when I booked the car online; however, this location charges an EXTRA $5/day if you pay with your Visa debit card. My Visa card is all I have, so I got stuck paying them the extra $$$.The car was very smelly and dirty with stains and cigarette burn holes. The passenger side floor was dirty (looked like sand on the floor). While I was at the counter another lady who had just gotten her keys to her rental came running in to inquire about the bad cigarette smell in her rental. The manager said the cars are all non-smoking. I had to use incense to get the smell out of my rental.The "good" part of my experience was that I did not have to wait long at the rental agency.

1-19-08 I just got back from my trip to the Bay area. The car I rented from Payless had bald rear tires. I found this out when the air pressure light went off on the dash and I pulled in a gas station to check the tires. Upon returning the car, I noticed many of their other cars also had very worn tires. Not very good when you have to drive 80 just to keep up on California freeways.

The car also had a few pounds of glass in the passenger side door. Sounded like gravel eveytime you closed the door. Not impressed with this outfit.
