I have purchased 3 bikes in the last year and a half from this place. In addition we buy our inner tubes, handle grips, helmets and more from there as well. Today I sent my 13 and 10 year old over to have a loose goose neck and chain tightened on a bike that we purchased from them 6 weeks ago. It's early Sunday morning and he told the boys that he can't do it for at least 2 hours. This repair job would take him 5 minutes and there was no one else in his store, but he was too busy building new bikes that he hadn't even sold yet! I try to keep my business in the neighborhood (to avoid the Wal-mart effect) but when they are too busy to help a couple kids whose parents "paid" for the personal service of a neighborhood establishment, it's very disappointing. My business is going elsewhere, Dad's Bike Barn is overpriced and refuses to provide good customer service. As far as I'm concerned they are out of business!

If you are looking for customer service, look no further. These guys do everything for you. They can recommend the right bike for you based on your needs. They can make repairs (sometimes on the same day, but go in the spring or winter for your tune up, they get really busy in the summer) One major element of DBB is they will not over charge you. Unbelievable prices. Oh yeah, no cell phone usage in store. Highly recommend them.

When my husband and I moved to Redondo Beach almost three years ago, we stopped at Dad's Bike Barn to get a beach cruiser. The owner was incredibly helpful and even helped us put the bike carrier on the back of our vehicle. Two years later he tuned up the bikes and installed a child carrier on the back of my bike. Every time I stop in I am treated with respect, even though it is pretty obvious that I am not a serious cyclist. As soon as our baby is old enough to cycle, I plan to get her bike/tricycle from Dads Bike Barn as well.

I've been going to Dad's Bike Barn since who knows when for regular tune up on all my mountain and street bikes - these guys really know what they're doing!

Unfortunately, as bikes evolve it gets harder to teach the 'old dog' new tricks. With the advent of the disk brake I've had to take my bike elsewhere for a more comprehensive maintenance but I highly recommend Dad's bike barn for the more casual biker. They also offer great rental rates for out of towners looking to cruise down the Hermosa Strand.
