Here is the e-mail I shared with the quilters corner staff.

Our first visit into your store: Sharing an experience.

While taking my mother out for her first time in several months due to her having stage 4 cancer and getting through chemotherapy and out of the hospital, she was excited to go to the quilters corner. While there my mom ask for a bolt to be taken down off the shelf and "one of the owners" sighed and rolled her eyes. The owner who was helping her did not know I was her daughter and looked at me and made a face to my like what a bother my mother was to her. My mother shared with her she would be making a cover for her ironing board and this woman said "this is a quilting store why don't you just go and get an ironing board covered?" Mind you she said this loudly and with disdain. What did my 79 year old frail mother do to deserve this kind of treatment? I went to the counter to ask who the manager was and to my surprise the lady at the registered pointed to this person as one of the co-owners. My mother was oblivious not realizing why anyone would treat her so rudely. I took my mother's arm and escorted her out of the store and said we will be buying nothing there ever. My mother asked me why the woman was mad at her and why would she say go elsewhere to buy an ironing board cover? My mother was hurt and disappointed on her first outing. How unbelievably rude can another human being be to another? What kind of comment is to tell a customer to go elsewhere to buy a pre-made item she is looking forward to making by hand? How about go buy a quilt in the stores instead of making one if that were the logic?

I can assure you I will tell this tell far and loud. I find it abominable, especially to someone who was so excited to see your store because she does quilting and sew. She wanted to start with this simple project to get back into sewing after her ordeal with cancer. This person should be ashamed of her behavior. I am now going to post this on everything I can possible along with sharing with the news media. I am horrified at how someone treated someone else who was simply so excited about doing a project and being in the store and talking about future projects she would like to do. Looking forward to a future after a dismal point in her life where she even was in the intensive care unit on a ventilator. This was her new day out. Some day you made it for her.
