I went to Lam for a routine service maintenance after speaking with him earlier that week. Taking my car to this crook was the biggest mistake I've ever made. No doubt, Lam is a knowledgeable mechanic. But, PUBLIC BE WARE! Lam knows the law and how to take advantage of unsuspecting customers. Do not leave his shop without thoroughly inspecting your vehicle because once you accept the keys and drive away - YOU ARE SCREWED. He knows that as long as he does the appropriate repair work he is shielded from most legal authority the Bureau of Automotive Repair has. He also knows that once you accept the keys to your car and drive off his property, most if not all of his liability is removed. My experience and opinion of Lam, is that he is crooked and running some sort of chop shop. The only proof I have is that many parts on my car were either stolen, switched, or damaged while at his shop. Trim parts, skid plates, speakers and stereo system, rubber gaskets, door trim, dash board, mirrors, steering wheel, knobs, windows, name any part and chances are Lam stole, switched or damaged it. Impossible, right? When I confronted Lam about missing parts and conflicting parts numbers, my experience was similar to Kris C.'s. He became hostile, angry, and agitated - then walked away saying my car was probably in an accident, and "not my problem." My car was never in an accident.

Public, head my warning and don't trust this crook. He may know about cars, but he knows more about the law. Once you drive off his lot, it was no longer his problem. Good luck trying to file a police report. Doesn't matter what damage you later discover Lam did to your car, you are screwed because you will not be able to connect Lam to the damaged car you will be stuck with.

I would highly recommend Lam Auto Repair. He knows his stuff and is always straight up with me. I don't trust very many mechanics but I trust Lam. I question the fellow with the complaint posted, it sounds like a smear.

I read good reviews about this business so I took my car in when it was running rough and losing power.
Mr. Lam told me the diagnosis would take a few hours so I got a ride and left. He called me later and said it needed a mass airflow sensor and an air filter. He said the labor would only be $60.00. I foolishly approved it over the phone.
When I picked up the car the next day he had charged $150.00 for labor. When I reminded him of his verbal estimate he became agitated and began yelling at me. This went on for 5 minutes and since I did not have a written estimate I just paid it.
The second problem is that when I started up the car to go, the air bag warning light was on. That light has never been on. It had to be due to something he did while he was working on my car. I showed it to him and he immediately went into his agitated, angry, act. All he would say is "Not my fault and shrug his shoulders". Then he walked away. I should have paid with a check so I could have put a stop on it. This is a hard case businessman who doesn't care what situation he leaves you in once he gets your money. Public beware!! You will have to sue him if there is a problem. He had no integrity in my opinion. The other reviewers were just lucky there was no problem.

I recently moved to Sacramento from Southern CA and did not know where to take my 1993 mazda 626. It was shaking on the freeways and everytime I stopped my car. My friends recommended that I take it to Lam auto repair, but I still wanted to check out other mechanics first to compare prices. The other mechanics on Stockton Blvd charged more, so I eventually decided to go with Lam. He gave me the best price in town and he was open 7 days a week. My car now is running smoothly and I still have money left to go to Starbucks. I highly recommend.

I really recommend this auto shop. I checked out other mechanics around the 916 and found this one to be the best deal. Lam (the owner) is this thin guy who is dedicated to the cars he fixes. His place is open 7 days a week and he has the best prices. Unlike other mechanics who don't show you what they are doing, he will show you what is wrong with your car. The shop is not fancy, just straight to the point of fixing cars. You should go check it out the next time your check engine light goes on.

My car has been running smoothly ever since I brought my car to Lam's Auto Repair. During the summer, my car was constantly on the verge of overheating. I first brough my car to a big name auto repair company, but I had a feeling that they were trying to cheat me because they pointed to many different sources of problems, some of which I though were completely irrelevant. Feeling discriminated and unable to pay for their high estimation, I continued to drive my car without repair.

One day while I was driving to work, my car overheated and the closest place was Lam's Auto Repair. I was desperate and asked them to check fix whatever was absolutely necessary. Lam, the owner, pointed out to only one source of the problem, and that was my radiator. Luckily, my car was a common Honda Accord and he had a radiator ready.

I appreciated how he was very fair with the labor and parts price and admire his truthfulness. I have not needed any repairs since then, but I often suggest him to my friends.

PROS: Honest Mechanic, Good Prices, Fast Service
