BEWARE of Naader Shagagi!!!

This man is a predator who believes he is a Guru.
He will lie and cheat to get your money and volunteered time.
Born in Iran where woman were unavailable and repressed.
He came to The USA at the age of 16, when developing his sexuality.
A whole new experience with woman obtainable.
He learned to use and devalue the opposite sex and continues to do so.
I encourage you to stay away and not to support his hypocrisy.
He's older now, well over 50 but continues to use an old picture to represent his failing business.
He's a parasite, living in his office and cheating his students, girlfriends and employees.
If you choose to attend his classes
BE CAREFUL!!!
He will steal your energy!!!
He has NO education as any kind of teacher and may hurt you due to his lack of knowledge.
Again.....
BEWARE!!!
BE AWARE!
More to come.....
If you don't believe - do your own research.

I've taken classes here on and off over the last 5 years. Often in the past the classes have been very enjoyable. Over the last 3 years the owner seems to be suffering from some kind of problem, very moody, not too yogi like.
He hasn't really been there too often and the space is friendly, but poorly run, and very dirty.
The biggest disappointment is the constant loss of good teachers, they don't stay. The classes are often taught by students in training which can be hit or miss, but we still pay the same!
Looking for a yoga place that's clean with good teachers. Does anybody know of one?

I came to YKS for the first time this week and found the teacher and class outstanding. I am looking forward to coming often to such a wonderful/peaceful place.

I do not recommend this studio at all. Similar to the reasons of the person just before me, this guy is a total scam. I am a teacher and have given adjustments without touching them improperly. This in addition to the "master" teacher's enormous ego makes all of his classes painful to sit through. They become completely boring, if not slightly menacing to sit through. If he's not trying to cop a feel and turning on the charm, he becomes menacing and casts terrible looks your way. Avoid at all costs!!!

Pros: non

Cons: scary instructor, boring cookie cutter classes

I have been practicing for a few years and just moved to the area, unfortunately the classes here are lacking in every way. The "master teacher" has the biggest ego of anyone (teacher or not) I have ever met, in fact, his classes (AVOID) are led by his monster ego and his ability to come very close to molesting students and passing it off as correcting their poses. In addition to the very overt creepiness, almost all of the classes are the exact same....they follow a set routine that no one dares stray from....on the schedule the names of the classes will be different, but in fact the "curative yoga" class is the same as "classical hatha" class...which makes no sense. Overall, this was a very disappointing studio, if you're a beginner, it seems as though no one has the knowledge or desire to help you learn, and if you're intermediate or advanced, there is no reason that you would want to do the same exact poses and get touched inappropriately when you could be enhancing your practice somewhere else.

Pros: if you must go here, take a class taught by Christy (beginners)

Cons: pretty much everything

Naader sometimes says that his classes are church, therapy, and exercise, all rolled into one. He's right. I've been to a number of studios in this area as well as other areas. YKS feels like it's what yoga is really all about: yoga as part of a balanced philosophical/spiritual lifestyle, not just a 3X/week destressing exercise. And I don't mean lifestyle in an over-the-top, New-Agey, disavow-modern-civilization way.
All of the teachers are terrific: some incorporate more or less of the overtly philosophical/spirtual aspects of yoga, but they are all very much emotionally engaged, and all of the classes really feel like moving meditation.

I bought a great Jade Harmony natural rubber yoga mat here. A lot of yoga stores sell only pvc mats which are not as environmentally responsible to produce. They sell the owner, Shagagi's DVDs for Hatha yoga here too. The 2 studios which you pass to arrive in the back where the store is are kept dark and there is a mysterious quality to the lighting and incense in the place. It seems intimidating as a beginner to contemplate practicing there. If your are looking for a more spiritual place, as one reviewer put it, the atmophere may certainly aide you.

My advice for you is to run quite far from YKS.

The studio advertises "curative yoga" but I'm curious as to the number of injuries that are really taking place. The students in my class could not perform most of the poses, and the teacher did not seem to know how to lead the students into them either. Their alignment was atrocious, and thus, they were sacrificing their bodies to achieve what looked like the pose. In most therapeutic yoga classes, the students have access to blocks, straps, and blankets, but here there are none.

Secondly, the teacher spent much of the time doing the yoga practice with us. A teacher should be walking the room, observing and helping the students.

Finally, there is a teacher training program where many of the YKS teachers are trained (see website). The program, however, is incomplete and is not yoga allilance certified. The teachers do not seem to have much knowledge of the basics for constructing a yoga class, nor do they understand basic anatomy. The trainees memorize the series of poses that are used by the owner and leave with little or no knowledge of each pose's affect on the body.

I think what attracts many people to Yoga Kingdom is the presence of spirituality as the owner repeats alot of phrases and ideas from Paramahansa Yogananda. However, does spirituality in a yoga studio compensate for physical injuries? It might be better to read Yogananda's books or whatever yogi attracts you, and find a studio that knows about hatha yoga and focuses on the safety of its students.

Every single person enjoys the class, the atmosphere and most importantly the Instructor. Naader Shagagi is the owner & the instructor of Yoga Kingdom Sanctuary and he is one of the best Curative yoga instructor, you have to try so that you know the difference from other styles and instructors.

He is very genuine and very caring pays attention to each single member in class, very peacful, spiritual, united "body, mind and spirit". Results with Naader is exceptional.

Some are teachers and they just do their Job, but Naader goes beyond he shares his knowlege with his members and helps every single one in class.

After each class, I not only get a great work out but feel so much peace and joy on the inside. Finally I have found a yoga teacher than can effectively take me (and it seems all others in the class) to the next level physically and spiritually each time we attend class.

Before I went to Yoga Kingdom, I thought Yoga was boring and a waste of time, my friend dragged me once and I can tell you forget anywhere else, if you really want to feel better and do Yoga the proper way, go to Yoga Kingdom and take a class with Naader, first of all you get a therapy session as well and when you leave the class you have energy and feel like you can do anything you want, its the best
go and try it for yourself. Marie V

Naader Shagagi, owner and instructor, has the unique ability to make you feel like he is paying special attention to you even in a group. No matter where I go for a class (even alone at home) I can hear his voice guiding me through my practice. To him, yoga is a spiritual as well as physical practice. Always encouraging, always paying attention to each in his class, always bringing together body, mind, and spirit. The atmosphere in his studio is very special - quiet, wonderful aromas, peaceful, respectful.
Some instructors are very good, Naader is exceptional.

This is a treasure trove of a place-- hidden, almost, up the stairs above Pasadena's uber-famous Burger Continental (enter from the back, next to Pavillions). They have excellent hatha yoga classes-- the focus here being spiritual enlightenment-- as opposed to most places where yoga is taught as merely an exercise. On Sundays, they also have belly dancing classes that are lively and dynamic. The schedule is very open-- classes run from early morning til 9 at night, so it is very flexible. You can pay a class at a time or buy a series and save money. The first class is free! They also have a newly-opened store in the back with books, cds, dvds, beautiful Indian clothing and colorful wraps, as well as handmade, absolutly breathtaking jewelry-- at prices for everyone-- the necklace I loved was 350$-- the necklace I got was 19$. Namaste!
