Small town Chinese food... about what you'd expect. The decor is extremely dated. I'm actually embarrased for them! We've been going here off and on for 14 years and wonder why they don't snaz-up the joint just a bit. The food is OK, nothing to write home about. Charley is a character and we like him. Some menu items are good, others we've learned to avoid. You'll have to discover these for yourself as tastes vary so widely.

I'd be reluctant to take someone here if I wanted to impress. I guess this is what you get when there's no competition.

I've heard Charley's sister runs another shop in Crestline. We've been to it and didn't know they were affilliated. We won't ever return because of the extremely rude service and mediocre food. It was as if we were doing her a big favor being there to suffer her rotten attitude. We were there with a larger party and none have beren back. It's really a shame.

Seriously, this place is just awful, and it's a damn shame as it's the only option for Chinese food on the mountain. It's not the decor (which IS dated, but who cares) or the service (which is friendly enough), but the food. The food is canned/frozen, institutional crap coalescing into an unimaginative, greasy mess that is typical of the type of food that was passed off to unknowing customers prior to the epicurean awakening of Americans (think pre-Julia Child).

An enterprising entrepreneur that set up shop with good food and a delivery service could EASILY dominate the Chinese food market up here. We pray every day for something better, and have become pretty fine makers of General's Chicken ourselves for lack of a decent option for purchase. Were we in LA or OC there would be 15 better alternatives in any 15 block radius and this cliche would have gone out of business 15 days after opening their doors. Why are we willing to settle for such mediocrity on the mountain?

The owner Charlie is always there and always greets you as you walk in. The food is always good and always consistent with portion size and price. The egg rolls are so good ! And they make a great house special sauce that is not too spicy. This place is very authentic and easy on the wallet.

The won ton soup and Pu Pu platters are incredible. The kung pao chicken and szechwan beef are what bring us back each time. However, because it is small if anyone orders something that can be cooked at the table (i.e. a Pu Pu platter), the smoke goes everywhere. There is decent parking out front.
