I lived in Mirada apartments for a year. I moved out last week. With all good and bad memories, I'd NOT suggest this residence to anyone, due to the following reasons :

1. Mirada is expensive in compare to similar residences in La Jolla Colony. You most probably can find a more luxurious residence with similar rent, if you start looking early (in Juneor July). In late August or september, Mirada is the only residence with vacant apartments though. But that also tells something about how expensive Mirada is.

2. Mirada is much more crowded and more noisy in compare to other residences in the neighborhood. Now I'm living in residence cross the street, and I'm relieved from the noise late at night and early in the morning. According to the landladies, the apartment I was living in (2226) was one of the least noisy ones, so I can not imagine how much more noisy the rest of them are.

3. Mirada is probably the only residence in neighborhood that would charge you a full extra 30 day rent, if you want to move from one of their 1 bedroom apartments to one of their 2 bedrooms. This was originally my first reason for moving out, but now I'm really glad that I did move out.

4. With all respect,. the landladies at Mirada residence are NOT trustworthy : They would make wrong promises, and they only care about their self benefit, completely ignoring their residents. In my case they deceived me to turn in my keys 38 days before my move out day (I had to move early) and they promised me to find another residence within a week and return me back the rest of my rent. They ended up charging me for the whole 38 days. I blame myself for being decieved and returning the key early.

5. The laundry cost in mirada is 1.5+1.75 = 3.25, while in the more luxurious place that I'm living in, cross the street, the total cost is 1.25$. I'm not talking about the 2$ difference, but it tells me something about principals of how mirada is managed.

This apartment complex is probably the best value in the La Jolla area. The rent is on the low end, the complex is well-maintained, and there's unlimited parking (none of that 1 spot per bedroom nonsense that usually is the case). It can get a little noisy if your specific unit faces the street, but its not a big deal.

This is a great apartment complex that is on the rise. There is lots of covered parking for everyone, the rent is reasonable, maintenance keeps the place clean, there is a pool and small fitness facility, and the staff are super nice. They even throw parties a few times a year for the residents and give away great prizes like free rent. Its not luxury accommodations but the units are well kept, clean, and in good condition. Highly recommended for this area.

PROS: Friendly staff, feels like home.
CONS: Watch out for units facing the street - they can be noisy.

La Mirada provides a beautiful large community of apartment homes with frequent breezes brushing through tall trees and patches of colourful flowers. Gated parking is available for tenants, ,and there is plenty of outdoor parking for visitors. Several community jacuzzis are perfect for entertaining a small gathering of friends. There are also multiple lap pools for swimming. The apartments are quite standard, though the washer and dryer are strangely situated so that you must walk all the way through the kitchen to do laundry.

You pay a good price for what you get-- parking is unassigned but there is plenty so that you and your guests can always find a spot. Also there are remote controls for the underground parking so you do not have to worry about your car getting broken into or stolen. Also there is a small gym and pool for those interested. Management expects the rent a couple days after the 1st so its not exact (at least thats how it was for me); they were very good about coming to fix things (sink was leaking) and polite. Rooms are a bit small.
